Strange things are happening

Archive: 16 posts

A very strange glitch happened to me today. i came home from being out all day and switched LBP on to do some more on my new level, but what i come to find is that half way through everything is coloured black and that i can't remove the blackness. no matter what i do is will not go away. and the strangest thing is there isn't a single sticker in the level anywere yet, so were did it get this black colouring from. it will take me hours to sort this out and remake the parts that are ruined.
I hope this never happens to anybody else....

Weird. Sorry to hear you've been duped by one of the infamous lbp mysteries. Hope it works out for you.2009-07-29 00:55:00

Do you mean like the back half of the floo is all black?
If so i have this glitch as well, but apparently only the player afflicted by the glitch can see it.
I remember i was playing with someone else when i noticed this but they said they couldn't see a thing.
Weird thing is when i took a pic and showed it to them toey COULD see it, but otherwise they couldn't.

No, he's not crazy, i had this happen once too. Any area that wasn't stickered was black... i have no idea what caused it, but it went away the next time i checked the level after rebooting.2009-07-29 03:20:00

Well think about it....
This is a game where you can do ANYTHING really, and there are only a couple glitches....
But EVERY SINGLE GLITCH is a pain in the ***!

Sounds similar to the one I ran into - I was halfway done with my level and a big chunk of the level suddenly became "ghosted".... that is, you could SEE the parts of the level but you couldn't click on them and the game treated them like they weren't there.... except for the switches that were ON the material, which were still functioning.

I had to make every single part of the level into an object and place it piece by piece into another level. (this also happened in Vertigo, but it was in an area off-screen so it didn't matter)

I experienced the exact same thing on my latest project. A whole part of the level was "unselectable" and impossible to delete. You can still see the element, but as Ccubbage said, it was as a "ghost" element. You even can't walk on it.
It ruined 20 hours of work and the bug was so extended that i have to rebuilt the whole level...

Very, very annoying!

Same here... I've had whole sections unselectable until I'd rebooted. Also, I've had instances where I've saved a level, published it as a backup, and when I re-open the one on My Moon, it's reverted to an earlier version!

All part of the fun, I guess.

I've had this happen, but thankfully not in a level. I was messing around with some stuff in one of my workshops and a huge chunk of the object I was working on just ghosted for some reason. I think I quit, discarding all the changes and after rebooted. When I came back in, things were ok again except I obviously lost a bit of work in progress.

I think I would have a heart attack if I came in a level in progress to find half of it was ghosted though!! Do you have a backup of that level you can pull in?

Wish you the best of luck!!

(For some reason, the quote thing wasn't working first time)

I think I kinda had that glitch before. It was only one object in my level that was "ghosted". It was as if the object became a part of the background, although I think I could fix it with a simple rewind.

Back to the original topic, I'm sorry to hear about this, and I don't think I've had it before, but I hope the problem gets sorted out for you.

Yah... Can't you just rewind when you get into the ghosted level?2009-07-29 16:27:00

Well after going on it today the problem has gone and everthing is how it should be, thank god. now on to the new topic... i've had that happen to me before but the problem accured for me when i tryed to move everything ,and selected an object that was being emitted over and over again, with it all. i'm guessing that the emitted object's lifespan and so on coursed the glitch. but i've never had it happen to me any other means, so there isn't really any advice i can give anybody about proventy this from happening apart from what i''ve mentioned.

has anybody ever experianced this: after using fire in a level something strange happens and there is what looks like ash floating up and down the level. it kind'a ruined things really, i couldn't get rid of it

The ghosted/non-selectable glitch reared it's ugly head on my Chroma Stone 4 level. Lost the whole scoreboard area. Thankfully I had a backup of an earlier save and was able to salvage it. Come to think of it there were emitters in that section too. Later on I had two big blocks of dark matter ghost on me too which as I recall I moved along with some expeimental emitters for the boss in that level. Leads me to think that emitters are the key to this little glitch. They don't need to be emitting the stuff that's ghosted but whatever you move along with them seems to be affected.

I have seen the ash of which you speak as well. Not sure how I got it but I ended up redoing a section on Chroma Stone 2 that was doing it pretty badly.

Hmmm.. now that I think about it, I was playing with an object that had an emitter spewing out lots of plasma balls. I think I had duplicated it while in play mode in the workshop and I might have grabbed some of the plasma at the same time or something. I don't recall grabbing any other dark matter, but it was quite a huge piece and anything is possible. Usually in the actual level I am working on, I rarely hit play to avoid the 160 hour issue. Possibly it might help avoid this? Not sure..

Glad the issue got sorted out though!!
