Annual Competitions (Peferably, Team Head-2-Head)

Archive: 2 posts

This is an idea I want to bring over to LBPC.

At the other site I post to, once every year, they hold a HUGE competition consisting of about 6 teams (about 6-8 members each), each with a leader and substitutes. They play RCT2, which is similar to LBP since the creation aspect is key in the game. Knowing that, this could probably be transferred to LittleBIGPlanet easily.

What they do in the competition is that about once every 3-4 weeks, they pit team against team, giving them a due date to complete the park (or, in our case, level). Working together, about 2-3 members from each team would work on a park/level to submit, complete with it's own theme, ideas, etc. Substitutes can be used to replace members who aren't capable of working on the project. Once time is up, the submissions are pitted against eachother, leaving it up to the public to decide which is better. The winner(s) of the round would recieve +1, while the loser(s) recieve -1. There would be a chart that would keep track of standings, just in case someone were to forget who's where in the competition. There would be about 2 practice rounds, to get everyone oriented, and then the actual competition would start. After about 8-10 rounds, the top 4 teams would make it to the semi-finals, knocking off the other 2 teams. Then, there would be a round which would pit 1 team against 1 team, and whoever would win that round would advance to the finals against the other team that won. The losing teams would then go 1-On-1 for a third place standing. The final 2 teams would compete against eachother, usually taking their best park/levelmakers and submitting the best park/level they can offer. The public would vote, and the comp. would end when both a 3rd and 1st place team have been decided by the vote. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams would probably win XP or stickers (depends on what the mods/admins would want). It's all great sport, it brings the community together... and it really displays what can be accomplished in the game.

Note: Teams can drop submissions if they:
A). Cannot meet the deadline
B). Are uncapable of working on the park for any longer
C). Other events that would make the team uncapable of submitting the park

Everyone is equal, in many different ways. But this competition can really make their potential shine. These are really fun to partake in, and anyone can join the competition (so long that they have LBP). I just wanted to throw this idea out there, since competitions are really what bring the best out of people.

With all due respect,
Outlaw-Jack

Well, seeing as it's a competition designed by another site, we can't exactly just take their ideas and adapt them for this site. Don't worry - we have a ton being worked on right now, lots of which I can't discuss, so we'll see some LBPCentral fun soon.2009-07-29 00:46:00
