Logic Gates and Two Towers idea !

Warning: This contains some idea's, but mainly this post is to inspire others to make more idea's.

Welcome to this post ! This post is meant to let the people out there know what is possible, this post is meant to make people think about the levels they can make with the simple things that are easy to make in LBP.

Well, i first wanted to talk about a challange map, because this is going to be awesome. Everyone knows that you can make a map where you can put a object from you're own as trophie, that object can be won by other player. You dont want players to get you're object in an easy way, because you worked hard on it. I've thought alot the past few days and i've been applying alot of real idea's to a level in LBP, and so i would like to start with logic gates.

This will be a modified version of it because logic gates works slightly different but it comes close to it. You can make a system in LBP that would require a certain amount of people to get passed it. Logic Gates are a good example of that. Imagine a gate that would open when you operate a switch, and on the other side there is a switch aswell. Now, in order to open the gate and to get passed it with 2 people is that one needs to hold the switch to open the gate so that the second can get passed it, and the second one needs to hold open the gate on his turn. You might think that this ain't going to work because if the first sackboy is evil then he can leave the second behind, BUT this is where the good part comes. You can also make a gate that would require 2 people to hold a switch to open in order to get passed. Thats what i had in mind.

Thats a good system to let people solve the map with more people, because this would be a map that would / must require 2 people to complete. Now, this will make it very interesting for level developers because now alot of options has been opened for them. Making logic gates is a very good system if you have a good object as prize. Also, gameplay becomes more interesting because now you can make puzzles that would require 2 people to solve or to make cross-linked puzzles. Let me explain you what i think on cross-linked puzzles. These would be cool levels that also require 2 people to complete, imagine it as 2 towers. 2 towers with each its own traps, tricks and enemy's. But the players need to co?p in order to get to the top. The switches in one tower would open the gate in the other tower if you get what i mean. This way you can make fun levels that would require people to work with each other, this also makes it more competitive. This was my vision on these systems that i was thinking about. I have lot and lots more where that came from and i will upload a picture of those two towers to !

I like that idea but I don't think people would be evil and leave but if they did I would just put a spawn point just ahead of the gate to fix it. But yeah good concept and it would work very well.

But I do think I want to just have a major enemy at the end and that by getting through them it would give them the reward and so it won't be easy. Or adding a good puzzle system to get through also would be good.

You have some really cool ideas man! The towers sound great, and you could make them really really tall, and have this elevator that only gets activated when the puzzle on each level is completed (or something original on each level to put you up to the next level). As long as you didn't make them too big or too wide apart you should be able to see both towers on screen all the time. And then when you get to the top there's a boss that requires both players to defeat and a princess that they can fight over when it's over! Co-opetition for the win!2008-09-08 14:44:00

The towers do sound great. The finish should be between the 2 towers so when they get to the top they dont just run along and finish. Make them suffer longer.

I thought of a similar idea but one thing about it is flawed the spawn point unless there is no spawn point at any other point then the beginning then its fine. but otherwise the sackpeople share a spawn point oh wait just thought of something you could connect the towers so as to make a shared spawn points and then the sackpeople would go to either the left or right tower.2008-09-08 17:56:00

in the meerkat level they have a logic gate system thing where one person needs to hold a block in place so they can get up onto a ledge. The person who gets up onto the ledge then drops another block so that the other player can get up the ledge.

I like the logic gates idea for making levels for multiple players, but the two towers thing seems a lot like lingue's idea. I just want to say this because he designed one amazing level, and I think he deserves credit for it. Im not saying its where you got the idea, but he did design an entire level using this concept called Cruel Contraptions. Here is the thread:
