New usergroups? :D
Archive: 7 posts
Since LBPC is GROWING... I was thinking of adding new usergroups, about 2 or 3. It's kinda necessary cause the Donors usergroup is just pretty useless. I'll give you some ideas... LBPC Assistant Tech Team Graphics Crew Clan Manager Map Making Team? Level Making Team. Feel free to add. | 2009-07-27 04:27:00 Author: Unknown User |
We've already removed usergroups in the past, so I don't think adding more back in would make a whole lot of sense. We are a community of equals, and creating different user groups tends to create an atmosphere of elitism. So, I vote no for this idea. Also, I don't think it's very kind to the people who run this site to make claims such as "the Donors usergroup is just pretty useless." Why are things that aren't broken always the target for fixes? | 2009-07-27 04:57:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
I've already brought up the subject as well, and was denied, and i can understand why. Also was explained again when they removed the "Distinguished Users" usergroup recently. In other words, not gonna happen m8. | 2009-07-27 05:00:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |

Thank you - couldn't have said it better myself. Regarding your (probably rhetorical) question, I can't say for sure. We tend to live by the same credo that Wikipedia does (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:If_it_ain%27t_broke,_don%27t_fix_it): If there is no evidence of a real problem, and fixing the "problem" would not effectively improve [the site], then don't waste time and energy (yours or anybody else's) trying to fix it. | 2009-07-27 05:27:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
This was also tried at LBW, when I was a member there. The User Groups tended to be exclusive, and did not foster or support the "community" aspect. In fact, it resulted in the creation of other User Groups that were in direct competition with each other. Textual Wars ensued with relentless verbal volleys...riots broke out in the threads...and the intelligent, in some cases more mature members, began a quest in search of the Citadel of Enlightenment. And if I'm not mistaken, they call it "LBPCentral.com". | 2009-07-27 06:41:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
I probably don't need to contribute anymore, but CC has always lived by the philosophy of the smallest team to get the job done. We only have 6 or so mods despite smaller sites having lots more. We don't NEED more, so more just for the sake of more is, well, =_= | 2009-07-27 14:34:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Oh I see, I never knew these things. I joined late that's why. -Request Lock- | 2009-07-27 14:36:00 Author: Unknown User |
