Support for the PS3s Screenshot Capture tool

Archive: 13 posts

As some of you may or may not know the PS3 got a Screenshot Capture tool added to the firmware in last year's 2.50 firmware update. Funny thing is, that not a single game or even the XMB supports this tool (According to an Article). It would be nice if LBP supported it. Yes I know there is already one built into the LBP game but it kind of stinks if you ask me. The Screenshots it captures are tiny and low quality. A proper Screenshot Capture tool would be great.2009-07-26 07:55:00

I would like it if the screenshots were in actual size. It's similar to what you are asking, but with an optimized and improved version of the ability to export screenshots to the hard drive, I don't really think we'd need an implementation of the "proper" screenshot tool.2009-07-26 12:31:00

I would love a proper screenshot tool. Exporting LBP photos to HDD makes them all blurry and is really annoying, so here's hoping.2009-07-26 16:52:00

I happy if stays like is as long as they increase the size of the screenshots. It works in other games (MSR and Wipeout to name just two) so I couldn't be implemented with a patch.2009-07-26 17:26:00

Press Square to open up the Pop-It. Go to Stickers, and at the top, hit "Take A Photo". Now hit R1 until you are at "My Pictures". Find the picture you just took, and hit Square again. Select "Export To HDD" and you're done. Now go to the XMB and go under Photos. It will be in there, and possibly in a folder depending on how you have it organized.

I think it's in Noby Noby Boy.

It is. Great game by the way.

It will be there in a folder named whatever month it was when you took the photo.

Depends on how your list is sorted. Mine are all in a folder named Littlebigplanet.

Well ya it doesn't have to be the PS3s Screenshot Capture Tool . All I really want is a way to take proper full size high quality screenshots, without the need of a capture card.2009-07-26 18:12:00

not a single game or even the XMB supports this tool.

It would be pretty cool to have decent quality screenshots. I'm sure someone will find a way to unlock it anyway, like with the PSP.

YES it's really annoying. The capture quality of the LBP tool is beyond atrocious and with the PS3 firmware tool we could have had screenshots straight from the image buffer!! This means perfect quality like the screens you see during promotion of new games from publishers around then world.

Even Motorstorm 2 could benefit from this even if their in-game screenshot tool isn't bad at all.

Yeah, i wish one could just press "Print screen" with a keyboard and take a "screeny" kinda lik ein the computer.

The only geames i've seen you can take pictures are LBP, Noby Noby Boy and Metal Gear Online (MGO actually uses thys "screeny" feature, but you have to tur on "camera mode" first.)
