various ideas

Archive: 4 posts

well, i figure it would be verging on spamming for me to suggest every sensible idea that popped into my head, so here is all of them at once. or something. forgive the lack of explanations for each feature; the programmers at mm are probably intuitive enough to realize how each one would contribute to level creation. i honestly dont know why anyone else would read this anyway.

so yeah, list time:

a 'min/max' variation subparamater for each paramater within the emitters object

multiple emitter types to complement the above feature. i would recommend using 3dsmax's particle systems (superspray, p-array, particle cloud, etc.)

plasma balls that harm the player despite z-axis position

plasma balls that can pass through solid objects.

a 'real' particle system for things like sand, dirt, and so on. this wouldn't necessarily be adjustable, just a type of material that could be used.

animated stickers

a music creation editor (this nullifies any problems with copyright a simple 'import song' feature would cause)

an autoscroll game object

an option to modify level dimensions (i.e. you can make the maximum width smaller and increase the maximum height, and vise versa)

a sticky material

an option to import .obj files into the game to be used as decorations. obviously they couldn't use any collision, but for decoration it would be nice. same goes for backgrounds

screen filters

and/or and if-then switches that would attach to the wires of other normal switches.

an invisible material (that doesn't require us to glitch the game to create)

harmless gas, and the ability to modify it's density

gravity modifiers

wind

i would say liquids, but i do realize that its extremely difficult to model water effects, let alone program a realistic looking liquids into a physics system without completely destroying framerate. however, if mm could pull it off, it would be pretty awesome.

Not bad

A lot of that has been suggested before but there's a few things that would be nice

I don't think particles like sand have been suggested before but i'm not sure how that would work on 2D planes

Yes, great stuff, with some option that I define thermo friendly like and/or if switches, auto-scrolling, etc...2009-07-26 07:59:00
