i think halo is going to die

Archive: 25 posts

now befor i start i have to say this is my own opion do not take it the wrong way.

ok i dont know if you have noticed but microsoft is bleeding halo dry.
they have 3 new things comming out in the halo univiurse.
ok halo odst was anoused than halo reach and now halo legends. cmon man rely.

now most people would think that this is a good idea to have everything released within a year but this is not the best way to go.

think about it. people are going to get tired of all the halo and end up quiting on the siries.
what i think ms should do is wait a few months after odst then anounse halo reach, few moths later releas reach an...you know where im goin with this.

what im sayin is they should prolong the seires over a couple of years and keep the hype up insted of dish it all out at once

remember this is my ownopion and feel free to burn me or goin and disagrea with me i like hearin what other people think

Yeah i sort of agree with you that there's too many Halo things announced in a short time, but I don't really know as I don't like the series too much. Completed Halo 1, and a french Halo 2 (lol) but it never did much for me. Halo won't die though as MS will keep pumping the games as long as people will buy them (which they will).

Btw, your spelling and grammar is getting better pal keep it up.

I'm a complete Sony fanboy, so I have no opinion on this matter, but I'll just throw this (http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/video/halo) into the mix.2009-07-25 17:17:00

I agree. Seriously, Halo is being milked dry, 'makes me wonder how much they'll make this year.

They even announced a Halo Anime...

I kinda agree that they're milking Halo this year, but I don't think Halo will be going anywhere anytime soon. Halo has a MASSIVE fanbase, and most of those fans will buy pretty much anything Halo related if they can.2009-07-25 18:29:00

Halo is going to die since Bungie will left it.
Anyway it's always the most played 360 game, so they have to **** people a lot to make it die.

It will obviously die, Halo Reach and Halo 3: ODST will be the last two Halo games.
Or Bungie will pull a fast one and make Halo 4. But that'd be the last one.

That's believable. Bungie is an independent company now, so if they say they'll be done with it, they're done with it.2009-07-26 02:26:00

What a deep video they referenced. It's all so true...

It's moments like these I am so glad we have alternatives. I've played through Halo 1 and my conclusion that it was overall rubbish, with one exceptionally lame plot and relatively boring game play. Halo 2 is good enough for multiplayer, but that's only because it was so heavily purchased that it became a kind of default multiplayer game. Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo et. al. I could hardly care less about. Lame story and generic staples hardly interest me at all.

The premise behind the Halo universe is interesting. Alien technology, cyber-warriors, a purpose built planet not fully understood, and intergalactic wars. It's just such a shame that instead of developing all those plot hooks into an amazing story, they use it as an excuse to shoot aliens. Or humans. Why oh why?

Bungie might leave it, but what about the other companys with their Halo Games/Tributes?
Bungie might approve of the use of Halo. Or sell the character.

It seems like many don't know what happened with Bungie and Microsoft and where the Halo franchise is heading, so I'll lay it out:

Microsoft announced on October 5th, 2007 that Bungie had officially made the shift from a first-party developer to a third-party developer. However, publishing agreements remained intact - Bungie was still required to finish Halo: ODST and Halo: Reach, and Microsoft officially owns the Halo IP, which means they have the rights to develop (and/or outsource) anything Halo-related. After the launch of Reach, it is believed that Bungie will focus on development of an as-of-yet unannounced IP with no existing publishing agreements with Microsoft, meaning it could be developed for multiple consoles and Bungie will retain rights to the IP. Microsoft recently announced an official division (not just a studio, an entire division), named 343 Industries, dedicated to the production and management of everything Halo-related. This includes future games (other than ODST and Reach), action figures, comics, anime (Halo Legends (http://kotaku.com/5320898/details-about-halo-anime)), online destinations (Halo Waypoint (http://kotaku.com/5322449/halo-waypoint-further-detailed-by-microsoft)), and other assorted items.

And, yes, I completely agree with you guys - I think Halo 3 should have been the end of the Halo series, but as with anything that generates a profit, it will be squeezed and squeezed until there's nothing left to profit from.

Halo is dead:

Let's face it, folks -- ten years is a long time to be working on a single franchise. That ten years could feel like a lot more when you're rarely on break, back in the development seat for another new Halo nearly every two years. Such is the tale for ex-Microsoft developer Bungie Studios, who told IGN UK at this week's San Diego Comic-Con, "After Reach that's it for us." Meaning that after next year's Halo: Reach ships to stores, Bungie is out of the alien killin', FPS genre -- at least those starring members of the UNSC, that is.

Though Bungie's Lars Bakken doesn't go into tons of detail about the studio's next game, he does say, "We're already working on a new IP that we can't talk about yet ... we've done a lot of different styles - first person to third person to RTS - so it could be anything." Eurogamer found out earlier in the day from Bakken that the upcoming game has yet to find a publisher, though Bungie is currently in talks with various companies and he says, "those talks are, I guess, close." Future Halo titles (you thought Reach was the last?) will be handled by 343 Industries, the recently trademarked, Microsoft-owned studio.

We contacted Bungie for comment on Mr. Bakken's comments and were told, "While it's great to see so much public interest over what the future holds for Bungie, we're not ready to talk about any plans or games beyond Halo 3: ODST or Halo: Reach. It's no secret that we've had multiple projects in development nor that we've also been working on original IP in tandem to our Halo titles but our focus right now is on our two upcoming releases. We'll have more to say when the time is right."

Funny how Halo isn't even ten years old yet and is dying, but has anyone thought about Metal Gear? 21 years of win. 2009-07-27 19:07:00

Metal Gear on the MSX in 1987 Metal Gear 2 followed after (and Metal Gear: Snakes Revenge... but that wasn't konami and it sucked).
Kojima did all except Snakes revenge.

MG1 & MG2 are on MGS3: Subsistence
I love them!

I personally love the Halo games and while I think Microsoft is milking it, I don't think they are doing it on the same level of say... Activison with Guitar Hero or the Tony Hawk games. Halo 3: ODST is basically an expansion for Halo 3. A short new single player campaign, new Firefight mode, but the same Halo 3 multiplayer with some new maps. Reach won't be out until next year and will essentially be a whole new game, new single player campaign and multiplayer.

So, I don't think really think it's been too bad. They've been spaced out just about right for me.

You should add Lego on that list.

I know this is your opinion on the topic and I respect that but there someone makes a "halo is dieing" thread on the Bungie.net forums everytime a shooting game comes out or when they get bored of the game. But this is LBPC so I should never speak of another forum for hope that the sack lord strikes me down.

Whenever bungie announces something even just a little detail about a new game people will remember Halo and goto play it or go talk about the new game with friends. Then there's recon which is often teased. And even if Halo: Reach is Bungies last halo game it isn't Microsoft's.

But whatever. And Halo is 10 years old and the Lego Halo was an April Fools joke so it might not happen...not that I won't buy it
