SuperSACK Market [Spotlighted!]

Archive: 48 posts

SuperSACK Marketdajdaj03
Walk through a little market shop but be careful,
it's not the safest place for little sackpeople...

A very short and simple platform level : Jump, run, swing...
The long work was to create all the different visuals and products packaging using stickers...

Hope you like it!

Wow! that looks amazing, the shopkeeper o_o awesome, i'll try it.

EDIT: Tryed it heres what i think:
Very nice VERY nice..

I only think the grab switch on the bar, should be invisible, and so should some of the other stuff like motor and wobble bolts.

You're right, I'm so used to it,
that certain details didn't caught my attention anymore...

It's fixed now!!

Thanks!

I pesonally loved this levels everything was so fluid and worked well together.
Now the only problem I had wasn't really a problem at all it just seemed out of place.
At the end of the level were the cash register is mgs stickers on the cash register, it just seemed really out of place, and again that is'nt really a problem it just felt out of place.

Wow you notice that detail...
Maybe you're right, a little out of place on the cash register, i'll see how i change that...
But you know i use those MGS stickers on each product packaging, as little writtings and signs (you know the kind of small logos or informations we find on food boxes in real life..)

Thanks anyway! glad that you liked it!

:star:What?! nothing hidden behind the big sign by the player post? it'd be a cool spot to hide some bubbles. also, the player post is loose.

:star: I had a lot of fun making a mess in the first bin after the ice cream sign..I like the fact that it can be knocked over to produce a clean-up in isle 3. it'd be nice to have more opportunities for the player to be a nuisance to the store like that.

:star: there's a check-point just before the fruit chiller. I'd move it back from the top step a bit so it didn't hit the players as they are landing on the top step..not sure if you noticed it, but there's a little Pause in the game when a check-point is activated and can throw off timing.

:star: I really like the bottles section. It's a nice take on the standard crushing pillar obstacle, and makes sense. really nice!

:star: personally, I LIKED the stickers on the cash register. I see that sort of thing in little mom + pop stores where the distributer gave them a freebie and they just stuck it to the register or counter.

this is a really enjoyable level, the couple things I found were pretty minor, but easy to implement.

That's a pretty good remark!
So I've just published an updated version where I changed some little parts to make it more fun...
I'll try to do more when i'll have some time.

Give it a try!

I love this level!!! The visuals are outstanding and it just oozes charm. I had a smile on my face the entire time I played it!

I loved your use of stickers from the many advertisements and your creative use of some often overlooked objects. The coffee bags you made using the objects from the Monster Pack were great! Oh, and your shopkeeper was awesome!

The platforming was pretty simple for the most part, but that's how I think it should be in a level like this. It's so colorful and fun that I don't think you'd want it to be too difficult, or too long.

Very well done!

This level hasn't gotten the feedback it clearly deserved.
I played this and this was absolutely fantastic, so much fun!!

You sir, are the king of stickers. You used them so well in this level!!
The visuals were beautiful in this one and had some of that typical LBP charm.
I especially loved the stickers on the apples for some reason, that's attention to detail.

The level wasn't difficult, but that would have been distracting in this case.
Took a smile with me through the entire level.

Gave it 5 stars, hearted it and tagged it beautiful!

Very well done, dajdaj03!!

I'm playing this level as I'm typing

Pros:
+ Jad is well done!
+ Awesome usage of stickers.
+ Everything is well detailed and eye popping.
+ All the fruit is rotten! lol
+ Everything is well proportioned to the sackboy.
+ I like your spinning score bubbles.

Cons:
- Couldn't find any.

I had a great time with this level. Wish it was longer

I gave :star::star::star::star::star:, "Fun" tag, and a heart. Would like to see more!

I really enjoyed this level! As a graphic designer I'm a sucker packaging and clever use of color and text and your level is bursting with all of that! Loved how you had it so colorful but not so chaotic I couldn't appreciate the items I was seeing on the shelves. Fantastic attention to detail and some very clever sticker usage. Not a whole lot of ways to die but it's more of a "how do I get over there?" kind of level than a "must kill baddies" level.

Very charming atmosphere and I really like your store clerk. Great use of decorations on him. I have to say it's done in a lighthearted way that made me smile and laugh the whole way through.

I gave it 5 stars & hearted it! Thanks for sharing it!

I'm glad to make the 20th post as I played this last night and feel it belongs on Cool Pages. While the gameplay was pretty passive, the real star here is the visuals.

Like Morgana, I too am a sucker for packaging and your great use of stickers made a number of truly believable objects. I especially liked the various bottles. I spent a considerable amount of time making a label for bottles in my level, so I understand that they're not the easiest object to work with, but you pulled it off brilliantly.

Looking forward to your next creation.

I thought you might be a graphic designer with your awesome signautre!

"I'm a sucker for" means I like something just because it is what it is, even if sometimes I don't want to. Like a girlfriend/boyfriend that has red hair. A person can be a sucker for redheads (treats them nice, buys them stuff, stays with then) even though the person may not be the nicest or the right one for them. They can't help but like them because they are red headed to a certain degree... That's the best explanation I can come up with.

Long story short - I like packaging. I pick it apart visually. I can't help it.

Loved the visuals in this, as everyone has said, there's some mean stickering going on here!

I also really liked the parts of the level where there are piles of cartons and boxes to just knock over and jump on. I always like levels that integrate the randomness of the LBP physics like that, it gives it a more knock-about and spontaneous feel.

Hmmm.. I saw this one keep floating up on some folks on my friends list the past day or so getting quite a few plays... (looking up the thread at some folks)

I think I will have to give this a try once my girlfriend allows me access to the controller again later this evening.

Ok.. having played this this evening and I found really enjoyable and fun for any age. Especially great for 4 player I suspect and will give this as a recommendation to my girlfriend for when she takes a turn with her friends this evening. Marvelous array of candy, milk cartons, and other assorted groceries as you gad about the market. I loved how there were still a few challenges, but still able to roam the pantries to your hearts content in search of point bubbles. Even a freezer section! Wonderful !!

I love how you actually found a good use for most of those stickers I rarely have used and thankfully they have to do with food!! Great detail down to the trademark sticker on the apples. Can't wait to see what you might have in store for us later! ewww.. that was a bad pun and didn't even mean it!! LOL!

5 stars and hearted for originality. ..and thanks to Zwollie for discovering this gem and probably got the ball rolling!

Since you have F4F enabled, if you could leave some comments on my level Space Escape. I would most appreciate it!

Thanks again everybody! That's kind of you!
wow...looks like I've got some feedbacks to do, got to find time for that, but I'll do this for sure!

By the way, I was thinking of adding a little section in the level, cause I felt there's a transition missing between the bread section and the cash register (the end), and it will also make the level a little longer!
I thought of a magazine section (TV, tabloids... you know the kind of cheap ones) cause I can keep up with the stickers use to make the covers...

What do you think? is that weird in a "supermarket"?
or if you have some other (simple) ideas...

I don't think it's weird - most US supermarkets keep the tabloid newspapers/magazines right at the register so you can read about "Branjolina" and "Tom-Cat" while you unload your cart onto the conveyor belt..... not that I ever do that......

I don't know if it would add much to the level though - depends on how you do it I guess.

I would agree with Morgana. I love it the way it is.. To answer your question, it would not seem out of place at all in a market. Just out of place in YOUR market. Tabloids are the favorite things I see at the market. I think if you leave it alone it will stay amazingly charming. If you just HAD to get your controller busy on something before the end, maybe some candy and gum and mints. ..unless that was in there and I missed it! ..and if you still had to, maybe some magazines minus the tabloids like SackTeen or Sack and Garden or something.

Oh!! I forgot to mention this in my review! I loved the shopping basket ride to the scoreboard!! Wonderful touch! Scan me sold!!

oohh.. maybe some lasers like a scanner thingy? ..nah.. I would leave it alone!

Thanks for the reply you both....
In fact I was talking about tabloids just as an example for the the type of magazine we found in supermarket, as long as TV mags too etc...
It's like this here in France, so I wanted to be sure that magazines in supermarket doesn't look weird for others countries..

For the level, i'm just going to make magazines LBP style, not realistic tabloids and it's going to be a very small section, just a transition...
It certainly not going to had much to the level, but I'm going to give it a try.
Also the main reason, is that I want to "create" and as I'm not having time to start a new big level,
I can a least have fun with updating a little the existing ones...

Just tried it as a F4F member.

Very good recreation of a super market! I especially loved the cash register and the employee, the buckets of fruit and vegetables and the little basket at the end where you had to swing on the handle to get to the finish of the level.

very good job!

it's nice to see some colourful original levels still exist

feed back for feedback, please try one of my levels in my subject.

I recommend dead ocean, boogeyman or space fortress as those three are my best levels. If you like cute levels try my smurfs level, its really relaxing

Finally...! A showing for the most underused of all LBP objects - the banana!

It was the first object I ever stuck wheels and a rocket onto.
But I don't think I've ever seen it in a community level... until now.

This level is superb. I have no idea how you made all the objects look so good.
While playing, it reminded me of happy days spent on classic, colourful platformers, like Zool and James Pond.

I got the video made today, but something went wrong when trying to get it ready for you to download, appprently you can't save your uploaded movies as MP4 if you movie contains 3rd party content. And the consider the Get it Together music as 3rd party.... It took me forever to find a converter website that worked, either something went wrong or the file it saved it as didn't contain sound or it was very low quality. But i think i finally got one.

Oh my god! I just played your level and it's one of the most beautiful levels of LBP (yes, Mm levels included). You're the first one who really uses all of those great objects and that reminded me of such wonderful 90's games like "microcars".

Oh my. I'm really late on playing this level! And I have to say that I've been missing ALOT!

This level was fantastic! The visuals were pure gold. Best looking LBP in the year! There is no 1 good thing because EVERYTHING looked good.
The gameplay was also great! Simple and cute!
And I think that the length is perfectly fine! I'd rather play a short and sweet level instead of a long and tedious one!
One of my new favorites! Hope to see more!
