The Robot Apocalypse Is Upon You!Big_Hawk97
Sackboy finds himself trapped inside a secret abandoned robot assembly plant. Unfortunately the only way for sackboy to get out, is to turn it back on.

Technically this is my sixth level (actually one level was created by my wife and another is a revised version of my first...but anyway). I think I'm getting better at the creation process, but I have the biggest problem filling up my thermometer before I'm finished. I can never do all I want or add in those finishing touches because I have no room left. Having said that, I think this is
my favorite created level so far.

I like the robot models and the gas room which took me about 2 days to figure out, but works wonderfully, if I do say so myself.

There are a lot more devices and robots that I wanted to add. Guess it'll have to wait until the sequel. Anywho, let me know what you think.

This level's great... super fun for me. I played with 2 others, and I think it's great for multiplayer. Everything has a not-so-serious sci-fi feel to it, some good humor and fun mechanics. I really like the mechanical point coffers, the way they charge up and then spew points out - probably the best treasure chest kind of thing I've seen. All the platforming was fun - I saw a molten factory bucket in mrsupercomputers level recently, but I think yours was just as cool for doing it with fairy lights instead of fire. I like the robots danginling on hooks, and the whole assembly line feel.

Visuals are just good enough to look pretty nice, but not so layered and nuanced that the level would end up short and boring - so you balanced it just right IMO. Funny dialogue throughout, and as usual... the cake is a lie.

The whole gas room section was extremely well done, great mechanics there and rock solid gameplay. Nothing broke or messed up throughout the whole level, and everything kept you moving at a brisk pace the entire time. Good stuff.

I really like the way you showed the scoreboard and the level really was 1/2 over... usually there's just 5% more or something to go, but this was a real trick.

I can see you were having fun making this, and probably DID have tons of ideas left that you'd have liked to put in. 5 stars and hearted.

Hey thanks for the love. I really appreciate it. I probably put more time in designing levels than I do "playing" over games...which is kinda funny when you think about it.

And yeah, there were a lot of ideas (mostly other robot designs) I had that I couldn't use (the level overheated...apparently emmiters eat up a lot of space) so hopefully in my next level I'll add them.

Anyways, thanks for the info. I'll be sure to play your levels too.

Played through this last night and really enjoyed it. You've got some pretty unique stuff going on in it.

+ loved the gas/radiation room - neat idea and that last one is hard!
+ Cute robots on the conveyor belt you grab and ride up. Nicely designed.
+ Love the sense of humor from the main robot guy - has a lot of the feeling of the portal computer humor - and I'm guessing that was the inspiration with the cake reference.
+ good material usage
+ lighting in the fire section was really nice

I did find a few things that you might want to look at.

- The paintinator after the gas room isn't glued down
- The last elevator throws you up really fast and if you let go you can fall between the elevator and the floor on top which leaves you stranded with no way to get the elevator back down. I'd suggest throwing a checkpoint on the elevator. That way even when played in multiplayer mode you can't get stuck with no way to finish.

Some of the areas you had were a bit bare and blocky but it wasn't a huge deal since it's a mechanical themed level - I just tend to like more decorated levels.

Overall I had a lot of fun playing it. Gave it 5 stars. Thanks for sharing it!

Every time I tried to glue that paintgun to that moving platform, It always glue it to the wall also. SO I just left it there. Those robots don't really need to be destroyed to move on in ways. To be completely honest, I had MUCH bigger plans for that area, but by the time I got there, my level had overheated, so I had to come up with something else on the fly and thats what happened. Its not a bad fix but its not a great fix either.

ANd thanks for telling me about the elevator. I always meant for it to go fast but I didn't want sackpersons to fall off. I'll have to fix that.

I understand about the glue thing. Could you throw two invisible rods on it then to connect it to the platform? If it knocks over you can't get the paint gun. I suppose it's not necessary but it would improve it imo. 2009-07-29 23:02:00

If the 97 in your ID is your date of birth, and you're not from 1897, man, you are a real genious with a superior IQ.

Anyway, as Ninja said the level is awesome and very fun, the speaking robot is really really funny.
The only thing I would address, is that in the bathing poison room you should delay at least half a second the gas, since many times I got caught by the gas while I was pulling down the switch lever.
As it is, it's maybe too punishing, since just less than half a second would solve the problem without making the section easier

LOL No, I'm not a super genius. I graduated high school in "97. I was actually born in "79. "97 just happened to be a good year.

I understand about the second gas room. My wife played it and she didn't have the timing down either. I just have to remember how to fix it. lol I'm a pretty sloppy designer (which might explain why my levels overheat so often) and I have so many switches (some that do things and others that have no purpose) with that device that I forgot what does what. But I think I found the problem so I'll take a look. Let this be a lesson. Keep those levels neat.

Well, you did put a lot of stuff in your level before overheating!!!

Guys, try this level, so when it will be spotlighted on episode 19 you can say:
"I've already played it! I knew this one one would have made it!"

Sorry for the bump, but this level (along with Night Of The Monsters) is going really under the radar and it really doesn't deserve it.
I completely take the responsibility of this hijack
