1.17 is out

Just turned on LBP and had to download 1.17

I reckon they have released this update staggered in different regions and that's why people are having problems.

Or maybe it's a glitch/error with the update.

That might be it, since they've resumed testing.

And if that's not it, then [robably they found a really bad bug/ glitch/ problem in it and recalled it ASAP, so it might actually be a good thing not to have the Update.

Don't do anything. If there's no update that pops when you start the game it means you don't need it.

Yeah i got asked to play online last night. I got the update, and my American friend didn't. So we couldn't play. I suggested waiting a couple of hours in-case it was like a delayed regional thing... Has anyone other then EU got this update yet?#

If it is only a DLC patch, then it doesn't explain why we're no longer aloud to play online with other regions. Didn't the different regions have unique sack-boy content in the past...?		2009-07-24 10:36:00

In your PS3 go to "Game Data Utility" then go to the "LittleBigPlanet" icon, (Not the LittleBigPlanet Downloadable content", that's another thing.) then press "Triangle" select "information" and it should show you the details, with the version you have at the bottom.

I'm still in 1.16 apparently.

So it would appear that this is amd European patch only eh?

Guess you already know it has nthing to do with this by now, but just confirming I'm not in the BETA........

Wich quite frankly...sucks!! I can't join most of the people on my friend list because of this.
Oh, at least I still have you Dorien!!

I do hope they fix this soon and release this patch overseas as well.

Well, I have been tweeting for a couple of hours now but no one seems to notice.

...and no Morgana, it will not let me join.

The paintsplashes from the paintinator seem to look different... they change shape when you shoot them. I think they were different in the old version (pretty longish and didn't really change much if i remember right)

or am i dreaming?

I haven't noticed paintball differences but has anyone else experienced extremely buggy behavior from their game since the update? I haven't noticed anything different since I installed it. The strange behavior you're seeing Morgana is probably general lag from the online create beta. Ryutei, you said you're still having issues connecting? Are these with EU or US players?2009-07-25 05:29:00

Yup.. I noticed that as well. Mostly the preloading for quite long periods of time regardless of playing or create mode. Possibly their servers are getting hammered delivering the update and causing lag on loading game elements. I suspect that is why they do a region at a time to minimize the load on their servers.		2009-07-25 06:03:00

Funny! Same here as well... weirdness, preloading resources, bad lag, freezing screens... oh and I could be dreaming but was firing a paintanator close to a wall and it seemed the impacts were smaller and squatter with different hue varients...idk my eye picked up a change made a mental note then came on here and voila...2009-07-25 09:21:00

I got it this morning. The only thing I noticed was that it preloaded game resources more often. It didn't change anything else though. It was probably in preparation for a new DLC like the history pack as mentioned...2009-07-25 09:43:00

You're right Morgana. I've had the same problem with the preloading and game diverging since the latest update. I've also had the PS3 freezing completely again several times. I used to get this before but they fixed it with a previous update and it hasn't happened since but it started happening again immediately after the latest 1.17 update. That's no coincidence.

No matter how small the update seems they always manage to introduce a new bug or in this case reintroduce one we had before which had been fixed previously.

That's why I keep saying , and I'm going to carry on saying , MM should always tell us exactly what the update is for every time. It wouldn't help me identify the problem but I'm sure there are people on here who are savvy with programming and would be able to pinpoint possible problems if they were told exactly what was in the updates.		2009-07-25 10:53:00

Yeah, amoung other strange things, my PS3 froze completely three times last night. I didn't have a freeze like this since at least....Hm...perhaps two month...

I've noticed that with a lot of new levels they are not showing the star rating for it, for example poms Miracle of Life has no rating and I think it was just released yesterday. Anyone else noticing this and does the patch have anything to do with it?2009-07-25 18:49:00

The no star rating is indeed something new, and isn't caused by lag. All new levels published after the patch don't receive a rating, I don't know why.2009-07-25 22:57:00

The strangeness continues. Major game diverged problems last night with 3x attempts. I cleaned out a bunch of my levels on my moon and decimated my pics thinking it's connected to our combined profiles and it seemed to calm down a bit. Still happening occasionally though. Two lock ups on the PS3, and lag seems to be showing up more frequently - to the point where it's affecting the audio from other users.

Yes - no stars on level published post 1.17. Hard to tell if it's a bug or intentional at this point. I wish someone from MM could post an official "hey - we know there's issues with this patch and we're working on it" comment somewhere so we know what is intentional and what's buggy. It would be nice if they did a patch log but in lieu of that just a note saying they're on it would make me feel better.		2009-07-25 23:40:00

I don't have any problems here. I use a Linksys wireless game router that connects to a computer filled with anti-virus and security software, so I'm good. If you use wireless, try disconencting, wait 30 seconds, then plug back in. Works everytime I have a connection problem. Wired, and you could probably do the same thing. I disconnect from time to time, but my PS3 usually does that on a daily basis. I log straight back in when that happens (usually takes me 2-3 times), and everything is fine. But, I have been recieving more level and costume corruptions, and also I've disconnected more often than usual. Then again, those are on a small scale, and most of the time the corrupted levels are just pieces of junk I don't work on ayways; the costumes are easily re-creatable. I may not be recieving problems as major as you guys, but it would help if Mm released a letter saying they're working on these bugs. That way, everyone won't have to feel as if the developer has abandoned all hope on the update.2009-07-28 19:41:00
