1 Million!

Archive: 25 posts

That's number of community levels as of this week, apparently (http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/07/22/littlebigplanet-community-reaches-one-million-creations/). If anyone is interested.

Something is being announced at Sony's gamescom conference. Probably the GotY edition and maybe something else too.

Hello from the LittleBigPlanet team here at SCEE.

Each week the boffins in our IT department send us a big spreadsheet full of numbers. Some of the numbers mention stuff like ?concurrency? and ?peak measures?, which are all very nice although not, for the most part, tremendously exciting. But there is one number in particular that we?ve always kept a close eye on: the number of levels uploaded by the community. And this week, that number became very, very special indeed.

Since the headline for this post ruins the suspense a little bit, I?ll just get on with it: the LittleBigPlanet community has now uploaded over a million levels.

One. Million. Levels.

Utterly amazing, isn?t it?

If you are a member of the LittleBigPlanet community, then please can you give yourself a big pat on the back from everyone at Media Molecule and SCE. We are in awe of the creativity, effort and invention that you have all shown in making LBP such a great place to have fun.

In case you were wondering, those million levels have been played a total of 244 million times.
The fact that you keep coming back to play, create and share makes us feel all warm and happy.

To those of you who haven?t yet tried LittleBigPlanet, let me ask you a question. Sackboy has won hundreds of awards, has a metacritic score of 95 out of 100, and now has over a million different levels to play ? don't you think you might be missing out? :-)

If you aren?t sure, then can I suggest you check back on this blog around the 18th August? We might have something for you... Thats a lot of plays and levels...

I wonder what's happening on the 18th of August?

Don't get your hopes up
It's nothing majorly Mm related as far as I can tell. So could be something rubbish. Or something we already know that others don't

I'm gonna say a Game of the Year Edition as well. They say that it's for new players, so there's really no better way than through a new, better version.2009-07-22 18:46:00

Hell yeah, that means that I have published no proper levels, and one of them (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=11861)* still has an aobve average number of plays!!!

*yeah, that was a shameless plug

Probably the vast majority... but still, the bigger the numbers involved in the ratio, the bigger the smaller number is. More bad, more good... it all works out. I mean seriously... think about it. In this day and age, you can buy a game called Little Big Planet $60 new and probably $20-30 used, and get access to a MILLION levels... at least a small portion of which are good to great, and that's still a huge number compared to a regular game's 40 or so levels.

That was a great video to watch... lots of cool memories, surprisingly nostalgic for how new the game still is - levels like Nobody's Home, and Pixelation (by the awesome JackIsBack team, and I wish jack would come back again)... Scary Factory by geosautus made a quick cameo. Congratulations to Teebonsey for getting his brief cameo with the movies, and I even saw wexfordian's Wizard of Odd level icon pop up in the final level shuffle at the end.

lol that video really put a positive spin on things.

Even if it's only 0.1% good, just a tenth of a percent... 1,000 good levels at 5-15 minutes a pop is a whole week playing 24 hours a day.

Now I just need a good searching mechanism to find them and a week off work to play them
