Vector 0.1miltonTPS
Navigate your way through this series of colorful circular Vector Art inspired levels...
all
A complex platformer for 1 player, this level is the result of a month of trial and error...hopefully the gameplay and puzzle factor blend well together, and its not too confusing. Its geared towards players who understand the mechanics, and who like to explore, rather than travel left to right...

Collect all 8 glowing prize bubbles to get the key...(tried to cater to those who turn off prize collecting) Prizes can be a real bummer (unless theyre creative, or perhaps rare glitches) Anyway, hope you enjoy it...the rest of the series is underway w/more object-specific themes on each one!

Enjoy, and also try my PAC-MAN level for something else fun to do.

The design looks absolutely fantastic from those screenshots. I'll give it a go and then get back to you.2009-07-22 13:36:00

Jaeyden showed this to me the other day, and I've played through it a few times. 5 star level IMO... totally unique look, beautiful material and sticker combination, unique mechanics and obstacles, awesome layout and design, tons of variety, good challenge... and it has a subtle, artsy feel to it. Everything is fresh, solid, sharp. Just the right level of challenge IMO - the whole thing being designed around a single moving checkpoint is amazing to me as well. Haven't found all the secrets, but I plan to revisit this quite a few times.

Also, wonderful choice of music... it fits perfectly everywhere, because of the stylish look and creativity, and you don't normally see a cold, metallic and sterile environment fit so well with the more ambient tracks.

I do like the 1st half better than the 2nd half, but I enjoy both parts, and I like what seems to me to be a creative spin on "breaking" the level by falling out of it. This is probably the most well-rounded straight-up platformer I've played in good long while on here.

Well, it looks super cool and I noticed you were lurking around my profile page (...), so I'll give it a whirl later today .2009-07-22 13:52:00

I love the design and style of this level. It's abstract and has a great color scheme. Playing the level though, I actually had a lot of problems. I got "lost" several times. All of the level looks the same, so at the part where you end up back at the beginning but the winch is there, I grabbed onto the sponge you grab onto in the very beginning and did the whole thing over, up until that part where the three metal blocks have stopped moving. I had the same problem at the part where you are on the platform going down and you have to jump off. I didn't see the green arrows fast enough, and I just figured the platform would take me to the next part. Instead, it took me into the gas. I missed a couple jumps because I was millimeters away from the auto-layer shifting kicking in, causing me to fall to my death. I really liked how everything seemed mechanical. Everything was measured and done in a calculated fashion. The part where the winch comes down is also hard to figure out what to do at first. I'm not sure if this was intensional or not, but either way it was very tricky. The part where the level sort of assembles itself is really nice, it looks good and its all very fluid. The fact that there was only one checkpoint was frustrating, but it goes with the minimalistic style, and I'll mention this later. Another thing I liked was the was that combos were set up. At one point, one combo looked good but you could save it to make a larger combo later on. It was set up very methodically and actually had a sort of rhythm to it. The level combined a lot of new and interesting gameplay mechanics, and it was nice addition to include a lot of "backtracking", it worked really well in this level for the most part. Floaty material and hazards were used really well in this level, you struck a great balance for difficulty. It was a challenge, but nothing impossible. After the room with the five pillars you have to destroy with the paintinator, I finally got the idea of the level, of the checkpoint advancing as you did, and then the whole "only one checkpoint" idea made more sense. Then each section felt like its own individual puzzle/challenge, and I really started to like the level. After the screen gets dark and you end up at the "scoreboard" I felt it did get a little sloppier. The things falling out of the sky looked strange, and even though they were meant to confuse the player, they seemed out of place. The level before that was ordered chaos, that was just chaos. The spikes seemed out of place, that would have been better off if it was gas, and the piece that you are supposed to land on could just be supported by a flat layer of dark matter behind it. The giant wheel looked cool, but having the three enhancement removers in there looked strange, it would have been better to put one at the end of it where you get off rather than three in it. Using the LBPC sticker was a great addition to the level, I liked that a lot. I beat the level, and I got all of the glowing bubbles except one, I'll have go go back and find that. Overall, the ingenuity of this level far outweighed all of the minor drawbacks, and it was very long for a level. Clearly a :star::star::star::star::star: level and I gave it a heart for good measure.

I played it at the same time as BSprague (I almost joined you at one point when I got stuck). I agree with a lot of what has been said be Ninja and BSprague already, in that the first half was infinitely better than the second. I understand what you were going for, but it just rubbed me the wrong way, you know?

I picked up on the single checkpoint following you around rather quickly, but it didn't help me getting stuck for quite some time on the section right after you get the first paintinator. I thought the the little grab winches would take me somewhere, and it took a while of going up and down on them before I realized that they were showing me where to go next. That being said, I wasn't a huge fan of it being necessary to kill yourself in some places to continue. It worked for level like "Save, Die, Reload", but it seemed sloppy here. Granted there was an infinite checkpoint throughout, but I would've liked the option to ace it (if I had the skillz).

When I went back to the main room with floaties pulling you upward, I didn't even noticed the new green arrows (my fault I suppose), and I only found the open 'room' by jumping around randomly. I landed on invisible dark matter - is this supposed to happen? This section of shooting the 5 pillars was pretty cool (and nerve racking). I liked how the floor basically fell out from beneath you to begin the second stage, but I'm sorry to say I wasn't fond of the level after this point. This is unfortunate because of the sour taste it leaves in your mouth as you walk away from the level.

I gave you 4 stars overall for the amazing first half. As BSprague said, everything was very well tuned and planned. The sticker work was great (you almost can't tell it was just the same block repeated over and over). Some of the challenges were quite unique, so kudos there. Thanks for sharing.

Really cool level miltonTPS! Just played it but couldn't finish it
(some player dragged me into story mode )
Made it to the second part where you go all the way up.
some feedback
+ love the art style!
clean and minimalistic, perfect for such a level
+ great and innovative platform fun!
+ the search for the glowing prize bubbles was great
+ for some reason i like to 'hang around' in your level, the artstyle/atmosphere/music are going really well togheter.

I don't know if your level was behaving like it should (lag issue's) but
how do you get over the spikes at the beginning of the second part?
Could only do that when 1 player was hanging on the lift while the other was standing on it. One of us had to die...

- the second part is a pretty long way up (i was dead at that moment, but the other sackboy was going up really slow)
- you are the victim of the sticker bug! Well... you can't help it.
I really hate to see such levels ruined in places because the stickers don't display correctly and i know it's a pain in the *** to work around that bug
- is there a reason the pistons are visible at the wave machine/fire at the beginning of the second part?

well, that's it for now, will certainly play it again because i haven't seen much yet of the second part. Will try to give some more feedback when i make it to the end.

Very tricky level, but worth the time invested to complete it. I can't tell you how much I liked the look of the whole thing. It just shines with artistic vision and polish. A few parts can be very tough with multiple players, but that's not your fault as much as it is the game's fault with the way the camera works. Definitely a unique experience and a refreshing approach to platforming. I hope people will take the time and make the effort to finish the level, as it does deserve to be played all the way to the end. There is a platform at the very end of the level (in the back plane) that you can drop off of and "fall out of the level", I suggest some gas below to keep players from inadvertently leaving the playing area. Other than that, a wonderful piece of work. :star::star::star::star::star::star:2009-07-22 19:52:00

I was playing your other level (the pacman one) when I saw this one. I was very impressed. The art style was what struck me straight away, and it's continuity throughout the level is great.
I think most of the level is pretty simple - but the difficulty is just right, even for a player as poor as me!
Five stars and a heart - really enjoyed playing it

BIG thanks to everyone who helped me creatively...all of your suggestions were completely valid, and everything was edited perfectly...its now better than ever (trust me) the puzzles are tricky still, just more (one-way) friendly!...

Also, for those of you who couldnt find all 8 secrets, fear no more (LOL)...i think i know the one u didnt get (near the 3-way switch/sliding wall), and that shouldnt be a problem anymore. Thanks again!

@ comphermc: there shouldn't be a part where u have to die...i believe its after the piston room w/paintinator, when the platform drops down and u cant cross the electrical field...something weighted needs to fall onto it.

Hi milton, just played your level, and here's my thoughts...

Visually, this level is slick, striking and different. I really enjoyed the puzzles and the flow of the level. It is tricky in places, but I persevered and thought overall it was polished, satisfying, refreshing level

PROS
+ Great visual style
+ Smooth transitions and dynamics
+ Addictive and compelling gameplay
+ Challenging but not annoying
+ Lots of unique features

CONS
- Maybe too challenging for some
- I didn't find all the orbs (Boo!)

OVERALL
A great level, with memorable visuals. And kudos to you for trying something a bit different. Well done.

I rated this 5*, hearted, and tagged with 'Ingenious'. Thank you.

Hard and beautiful - great combination for experienced players. I really enjoyed playing it. Loved the color and shape choices you picked and the lighting works really well too. Sort of abstract geometric with nice attention paid to the surface textures and reflections - loved the silver gray stickering that made some of the surfaces look like highly polished hemitite stone. Seriously hard puzzle/challenge factor on some of the areas but I managed to work out some of it. Gave it 5 stars & hearted it.2009-07-23 23:34:00

By the graphic side incredible is only word.
Is the contrary of how i work(me totally figurative, you totally abstract),and is out of my taste,BUT is so perfect that i can't don't like it!

For gameplay is a little bit hard, but not exagerated and anyway is very clean and precise

I had give 5 star(rare for me) and hearted!

I like how this level looked. Nice stickering, interesting designs. There were some problems, though.

This level had a serious case of "not enough checkpoints." I mean, there's only one throughout the whole level! but really, it could follow a bit more often, or there could just be more.

From the start, I went down, left, to the platform, back up, right, to the sinking platform, down, and there are arrows that say to go up with a sponge on the wall next to them. I jumped, held R1, went right through the wall, ended up grabbing onto something on the right side of the wall, and fell to my death. Then I had to go down, left, to the platform, back up, right, and to the sinking platform all over again. There are many more places with annoyingly long hikes.

Why is the section with the "bonus cancel" and paintinator on pistons open on the left and right? Is it supposed to be misleading?

The sinky gray platform with the white plasma balls has flame stickers randomly appearing, disappearing, or flickering on the sides.

The section with the blue balls at the end has random screen flashing.

In the second section, the scoreboard spawns high enough it's visible on the section above it.

I couldn't pull the switch on the sliding platforms above the floating fireballs without some frustration because multiple times, my sackdude picked up the paintinator below it. Was that put there to be intentionally annoying?

The obstacles were fun and creative. You used arrows cleverly and retreading steps to to get to an unlocked area was refreshing, sometimes.

Most of this post seems that I'm complaining, but that's just because everyone already said the good things I would say, too. It's a nice level.

Wow... just got done playing this level and I gotta say, I LOVED IT. Stunning visuals, fantastic switch-based gameplay where the level seemed to change around you.

There were definately areas where I had to stop and think for a minute, but thats a good thing. I didn't run into a single issue myself, so I can't really give any "bug" feedback. I did make it into the #2 spot, but I only found 2 of the secrets.

Awesome stuff! Definate 5 star stuff, and a heart.

Sadly, yes.... I was pretty wrapped up in finishing Destiny, so for a bit I was only playing levels where people directly asked me to. Having seen the quality of it, though, I wish I had played it earlier. I actually ended up playing it twice I was so impressed.
