The Unfair Platformer 2Dr_Vab
Can you survive the hidden traps that lie within this level? This level is difficult, but having a sense of humor helps. You also have infinite lives so just relax and have fun. This is probably the last Unfair Platformer level so I hope everyone enjoys it.

Well I just published this level last night and so far it's doing extremely well! In case you've never played the original this is a level that tries to kill you in many different sorts of ways and make you laugh as well. The sequel is a little longer than the original and the traps also have a lot more variety. I've kept the same "cutesy" theme in this level because mostly everyone seemed to like it. I worked extremely hard on this level and would love to see what everyone else thinks!

If you want F4F just give me the name of your level and I would be glad to.

I've been looking forward to this. For only being up one day, 400+ hearts and 2,000+ plays is absolutely insane. Congratulations on that. I started off by going to the left, right over to the "Secret Path....". Typical Unfair Platformer style to start off, I thought it was funny and got a good laugh out of it. It kept the style of the original throughout, which I really liked. The "death" sequences were more intricate, a nice improvement. I thought the gray face clouds were creepy, which wasn't a bad thing, because you did say that "Clouds with faces can kill you". I didn't really like the overuse of the task fail sound, it sounds obnoxious once, so using it for a lot of the deaths or traps gets grating and annoying. I really liked the Faith Walk section, the "charge up" of the clouds was a nice touch, but I expected the end of it, and avoided a death there. At the section directly after it, I went for the bubbles, but I managed to jump back up through the spot where a second green square would have been. The green square that was supposed to be there wasn't, it was a little higher up. I'm going to guess that's an emitter glitch and will be solved by replacing the block. The switches were funny but frustrating, and the one that wasn't attached to the platform made me laugh at the way I basically threw myself into the gas. Fake scoreboard was good, but I saw that one coming a mile away. I was surprised when it didn't kill me. I think rocket cheetahs should be mandatory in every level, I absolutely adored how you used it in here. :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart, obviously. 2009-07-20 23:13:00

I was one of the first few hundred people to play this level , and i have to say that i love it, awesome platforming right here, was laughing so much playing through it. also i think that i got caught by every single trap even the on if u go left at the begining. , the level design is awesome to, because i can imagine ways of making the same concept in a much worse way. It comes alive by the various warnings of ur impending doom.

Also i have no idea how you did it but it seems that every move that i wanted to make was calculated and led to disaster i even tried jumping on a tree to get over a gap only to be struck by an emited wall that must have took ages to know where to set all the various traps but it's funny when you are caught completely off guard and fall into a pit of gas along with that fail music (nice touch).

so far i haven't found any bugs in the level, but i'll play it over a few times to see if i can find anything, because i like to find them

overall this is an AMAZING level that i would recomend that everyone should play, i guarentee there will be moments where u think how? how did they know that i was going to do that!? 0.o i loved the first level and i love the sequel i give 5 stars and a heart

did i use too many of those smiley things or is it just me???

Thank you both for the great feedback!

BSprague- I did think i overused the task fail sound, but a lot of the traps just didn't seem as good without, I'll try to find some other sound effects so it's used less. I never encountered that one glitch where the block emmits too high and I tested it a lot. You must of jumped out right as soon as you got in. I really appreciate the 5 stars and the heart as well.

springs86- I'm really glad you appreciated the level. I'm sure you'll find some sort of bugs if you play it a lot! I also put a secret area where only 2 players can go which leads to a different scoreboard, try and find that!

Okay seriously, how the heck did you get so much plays in one day?! You're already on the high pages of Cool Levels, this could be one of those levels with like 50,000 plays.

Edit: You saw my feedback on your Unfair Platformer 1 thread right? I didn't see this thread before so I posted it there. I can move it if you want.

springs86- You were close to the secret, but there's actually another secret very close to there that leads to a completely different scoreboard. Also I've just added an aced level prize (I could of sworn I had it in originally, but I guess not).

brnxblze- I actually think I posted this thread after you left a comment on my original thread, so it's no problem you don't have move it. I also don't know how I got this many plays in one day! The first Unfair Platformer had only about 50 plays after its first two days! I think one of the reasons why it got so many plays is because it has a 5 star rating, (it's actually the third biggest level on the Highest Rated Page!)

Thank you both, I'm really glad you guys enjoyed the level.

Ha ha... great I liked your last Unfair Platformer, and I enjoyed this one even more.

All worked well for me... and I had a laugh at your "Secret Path" I also fell for your fake score board, thinking..."over already... Dr_Vab's last level was so much better..!"

#I really liked how you implemented the traps, they were all done well and gave me a fright almost every time they sprang... the very last one 'oh, so close' I liked that a lot

#Good to see some multi-level paths in this one

#The only thing I would suggest is to add a camera near the start of the level, where you have the 4 stacked layers - there is a sign on the top that cannot be seen from the ground...

#Rocket Cheetah - Brilliant! (I would take the 's' of the end of "I hate rocket cheetahs" for more comic effect) <grin>

Well done on this creation and thanks for the laugh

:star::star::star::star::star: and tagged Perilous!

Hey there! Just played your level, and I had a good laugh the whole way through. The sense of humour in this level was great, a bit sadistic but really good fun!

I haven't played your first Unfair Platformer level, but I was really impressed by the variety and cleverness of the deaths in this one. The clouds with faces in particular were a great touch, extremely creepy but hilarious nonetheless!

Anyway, great level, and thanks for sharing. It made me laugh - a lot!

(by the way, I'd love some F4F on my Jumping Castle level if you've got time, it'd be awesome to hear what you think!)

Thanks for playing my Mars Attacks level. Here is the feeback in return.

I had a great time playing this level, it should be fustrating but because the level is filled with humor you actually find yourself laughing at the cheap ways you die. You actually had some nice ideas, and they drove the level along well. The best part for me was the rocket cheetah section, I laughed out loud at that one. The signs later on were good to, all flowers are safe, except those ones, and the one taunting you right near the end, excellent!! I replayed the level to find out what was down the secret path, I should'nt have bothered lol!

I thought the level was really made, it looked nice and kept me entertained and laughing all the way through, nice work

I tried this level and absolutely loved it!

Pros:
+ Hilarious
+ Impeccable timing with traps
+ Great traps
+ Rocket Cheetahs!

Cons:
- Kind of short
- You crushed the rocket cheetah!

Great level I gave :star::star::star::star::star:

Haha liked this one. I liked the visual style and the humours traps. I don't have any suggestions here because I think it is perfect the way it is well done. Also now that you mentioned there was a 2 player secret passage I'm going to play it agian Nd try and find it.

For F4F check out the level and give feedback for the level in my sig.

Well, first off, congrats on making cheap deaths funny. You've also made a great and hilarious sequel! The visuals were a pretty big improvement from the first one, and the deaths seem to be a lot funnier. The rocket cheetah, "secret path" and flower deaths are laugh out loud hilarious!

Can't really give much more feedback on this one. Sorry. Overall, I gave it :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart!

EDIT: oh, and you don't have to give feedback on my levels. I give feedback for free.

I'd have to say the best one in my opinion is the Secret path... I knew it was gonna be a trap, but, I can't help it but laugh at it. I loved the stage, and I had to heart it and give it the 5 stars it deserves.

P.S. I ACED IT!!! WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

holy good god, took me like 14 tries to ace it, I fell for the stupid wall in the middle of a jump trick from part 1 a couple times when I knew it was there! Lol, great job, and congrats on making Page 1 and getting SOOOOOOOOO many plays.

I see you took most of my feedback from part 1 and used it very well in part 2... I still would have LOVED to see the global lighting tool used to turn the lights out just to mess with you in some way...

Also you could have had a cloud hanging and be grabable in there at some point, like when you chose the switch, maybe the last one have BOTH switches kill the guy because you could have grabbed a cloud and swung to the next part.

Priceless entrainment, 5 stars and hearted. Deja Boom is on page 4, not as cool as your page 1 level, but it's as high as I've ever gotten Cry for me! Lol, but both part 1 and 2 are done, since I think you only played part 1 before in beta form, you should check it out - would love a quick review of your thoughts instead of feedback since they are thermo'd out and can't be changed much! Info in sig on those.

Later, let me know when you want some help with the next one!

Thanks LuckyShot! I was actually thinking I was going to use that global lighting trick in the next Unfair Platformer, if I ever make it... I didn't want to use every idea I had for this level, plus my thermo was completely done, I couldn't even add another flower!

I'll for sure play your Deja Boom series tomorrow, since I should be at home all day tomorrow, I loved the first part and I'm sure I'll like the second part to.

Edit: If you ever have any ideas for traps in the third just let me know, I could really use a few.

I saw my sisters play this level, they were greatly humored by it and they rated it five stars.

Spectating them was somewhat frustrating but overall from what I could see, very nicely done level there.

I played this level.

It was amazingly fun, I thought there would be more TUP series.. but instead, I still like it.
My favourite part... was at the end after the scoreboard... the spikes raised.

I rate 4 stars. The creator should make more!

Now this made me smile!

I don't think that I've neever been crunched, burnt or disentegrated in such a hilarious and cruel way. You see, I've never liked being treated in a unfair way in any game before, but it looks like you made me enjoy it.

I thought that the visuals were... well, really good fitting. You went for "Oh happy day..!" atmosphere, wich made it all even funnier. I don't get to die because of nasty clouds everday, o that was definteley a nice touch.

Besides, I also liked how you thought one step before the player. I mean, it's like if you knew what I was going to do; and when I learnt to avoid some traps, you changed those ina way that they would kill me anyway, making me feel like if you predicted my moves. Wich you did. Ouch.

All in all, such simple looking level, with such a complicated pyshchological game behind it, did really amuse me. Not to mention thos little touches of humor. Signs may never lie, but hells, they sure can kill me too. Specially if they announce it themselves, lol.

So what are you waiting for?? We're needin' part 3!

As for the F4F, I'd like you to give it on https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=13700 Thanks for it!

Hey Vab. This was another frustrating, but hilariously fun level! Having played the previous one, I was aware of some of your tricks, but you still managed to get me a view times. I avoided point bubbles like the plague though on my first time through and after going back a second time, I see that was a smart move!

Simple, but fun level!

Hey on the next one, you know eventually when you get around to it - you should kill a few people where there are bubbles with a sign that says something like "Don't be too greedy", and then right after that have two paths, one with and without bubbles, and kill the people that go on the non bubble path and say "Don't be too selfless either"

Obviously with your own words, because you have a very good sense of what to say in these levels so far.

I played it, and to be honest... Thought it was kinda... bleh

It was like:

monotone voice* "Oh no, I died from another emitted wall. Oh look, a randomly appearing whatever..."

It just wasn't very entertaining, and pretty repetitive...

Sorry, but I didn't like it , perhaps if you used less emitters, and more conventional mind-traps, then it'd be a little more memorable

Seeing as how the entire level was centered around this gimmick, I can't say much of it stood out to me

I wouldn't mind it, as long as if it's not a complete rip-off of mine and you give me credit.

I've seen so many levels today that are just straight up copying my level, they give it the same name, and even have the same sort of flowery scenery. One was even on Cool Pages 1 for a few days while mine is still up there. It's really annoying seeing people getting thousands of plays off your idea, and then you see comments seeing people calling him a "genius".

Sorry about that lol, I'm just really annoyed at how many copies there have been of my level. I wouldn't mind you doing a tribute at all though.

Don't worry, ever since I played the first Unfair Platformer, I've had some ideas of my own for traps and such. I like the style of the level, and the sarcastic signs that keep the mood light. Your name will be in the description, and strewn throughout the level. This is all assuming I even get up the drive to start working on it.

I can completely understand that you would be upset at people eating slices of your victory cake without even asking. You worked hard on it, it's wrong that some people are going to see it as a quick profit and benefit from you. It's only natural, some people are just vicious. It's bitter sweet for you. On one hand, you came up with a brilliant concept and executed it just as well and it was a hit. On the other hand, the idea was so original and successful that others saw fit to steal it. I haven't had anyone copy my levels and not give me credit, but I can imagine that it would leave a bitter taste in your mouth. This won't be a rip-off of your level, and you will be the first one to see it before it's published.

Greetings!

I finally got a chance to try out some levels and stumbled upon your 2nd version! Congrats! Looks to be doing quite well too.

I really liked this one better than the first one. Possibly because I knew what to expect, but it seemed to flow a bit better. The humor had great timing, but seemed a bit less sinister or maybe less forced than the first. At any rate I found it much funnier for some reason!!The fake scoreboard was fun, though I knew it was probably going to be fake!! LOL! I loved the pick the correct switch sequence also and guessed correctly on a few of those too. All and all great lighthearted fun. You earned another :star::star::star::star: and a heart from me.

For F4F - I have a few level threads, but I would rather you check out my newest one called Space Escape that I just published yesterday. Thanks and looking forward to your comments!

So i have a funny level I think you would like. It's not like your unfair platformer in the ways that you constantly die, but it does resemble it somewhat in it's quirkiness. Its called "you are supposed to play the level". Don't put this off as some wanna be unfair platformer, because it isn't. Anyways just thought I would share that with you. Aside from my levels, yours are the only ones that I truly find to be funny.2010-08-02 21:33:00
