Monsters Ate My HomeworkGRIMMBANE
My attempt at an adventure style castle. There are 3 "boss" monsters that unlock higher tiers of the level. Loads of zombies!
all
Just wanted to put this out there so I could get some plays and see what people think... Only my second attempt at creating a level so constructive criticism is greatly appreciated!

As a side note...willing to F4F if anyones interested

I played through this the other night and the bosses are neat. Your sticker use on the big pink one is really nice and I like the tentacles. The one on the bottom right is fairly easy to dispatch. The hardest is the one on the top right.

My suggestions for your level design would be to try and not have really long passageways with not much to do. There are some very long halls with the occasional zombie guy (which are nicely done) but not enough in terms of actual game play to make the level entertaining (except the bosses) I like to think of it this way. If the hall doesn't have to be there to further a plot or for platforming purposes, why put it in?

Your decoration on the rock is minimal and sort of flat which is strange because your bosses have a lot going on. Try to take the same approach you have with your boss design to the surrounding area. Add lights, stickers shapes colors layers to make it visually more interesting. Same thing for camera use. You can change the angles or size of the area shown with camera usage. Play around with them to find the best angles to make the encounters more interesting or exciting.

I do love the name of your level though and if you were to make a more traditional platformer style level where you try to save your homework from being eaten that could be really funny and fun to play.

I rated this particular level 3 stars. Thanks for sharing and I hope you keep making levels. I'd be interested in seeing how your bosses will evolve.

Hello there Grimm! Today, you will be the very first level I have ever reviewed. Congrats

Gameplay: I liked the use of the Paintinator. All of the bosses and monsters, you had to use the paintinator to kill. I liked that. However, there were some times I got annoyed by it, because I had to hold it so long, and all the time. You could've added a few more Paintinator gun spawns in there, so I could just let go of it and not have to run all the way back to the Paintinator spawn if I accidentally pressed O. I liked the undead, zombie-ish theme, but the monsters themselves needed a lot of work. The aiming system was very bad. There is only a tiny hole of space you can use to hit the zombies. Some of the zombies were extremely hard to kill, and even the little ones took me like, 3 minutes to kill because of how hard it was to hit them. Next time, if you make zombies, or monsters, or anything of that sort, make them a bit easier to hit. Lets move on, shall we?

Decoration/looks: I am not going to lie to you, this was pretty bad. You did not make the level look good at all. You used about 2 materials throughout the entire castle. Next time, use different kinds of materials, whether it be sponge, metal, stone, you name it. Make your level materials vary. Also, you should've added lots more stickers and decorations on the castle. It seemed very dull just to walk through it. Speaking of walking through it, there were lots of long halls that were very boring to walk through, because there was nothing in them. There was the occasional zombie, that was good, but like I said, try to add some variety. Speaking of zombies, there were not many different types of them. You had the tall and short ones, and that was it. Next time, make more zombies and be creative about how to kill them. Moving on...

Music/sound: There WAS music, but only 1 track. Try to alter the songs. For instance, you have the creepy, walking through the castle music that activates every time you go through the halls. But when you get to the boss, put some Metal Gear "Dead Cell" music in there or something, some fight scene music, so that you actually feel your trapped in the middle of danger, with nothing to save you, except for yourself! Music adds LOTS of emotion to the level. Also, try to add some more sounds, maybe throw in a few zombie sounds when the player goes near a zombie.

Creativity/Idea: Well, I absolutely LOVED the idea! What a great concept! Everybody loves zombies and castles! Great ideas, great creativity for the bosses, etc. etc. The only problem is it gets a little bit repetitive. This is exactly what was going through my mind:
"Whoa, cool, zombies!"
"Whoa, another different kind of zombie! Awesome!"
"A boss? Sweet!"
"Cool. Another zombie..."
"Hey look, its a zombie again..."
"..."
Next time, make more ideas, make hazards, obstacles, etc. etc. so that people can say "Whoa, thats cool!" almost the entire level. You had good ideas, just not enough.

Emotion: Not enough emotion. Make things very scary at times, then go to happy, then go to sad, etc. etc. Emotion is a big part in Littlebigplanet. Heck, maybe even make a speech bubble over Sackboy that says "I'm very scared! AAAAHHHH!" or something.

Overall: It was okay I guess, but add lots more decoration, depth, etc. etc.

:star::star:

I rated this level 2 stars and tagged it repetitive. Have a great time in LBP and good luck with your levels! ^_^
