All-Nighter Dilemma
Archive: 10 posts
Right now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I was sick and in bed sleeping pretty much all day today, and didn't wake up until a little after 5:00 pm. The problem is my family and I are leaving for a trip at 6:00 am in the morning (it's currently 10:30 PM here). My problem is: I'm not tired. I don't know whether to just stay awake through the night and sleep on the five-hour plane flight, or (most likely futiley) try to pull an all-nighter and stay awake to tomorrow. What sould I do?![]() | 2009-07-18 04:43:00 Author: iiiijujube ![]() Posts: 594 |
Don't pull an all nighter, that'll just leave ya TWICE as tired. Read a book, no matter how long, until you HAVE to go to sleep. Pick a good one, you may have to keep going. Thene even if you fall asleep late, you can just sleep most of the flight. Have fun on your trip :arg: | 2009-07-18 04:47:00 Author: Astrosimi ![]() Posts: 2046 |

I'd like to say you should stay up all night, but i have the most messed up sleep pattern ever because of it ![]() If you're not gonna get much sleep, then go to sleep at an even number of hours before you need to wake up For example if you need to wake up at 6, either sleep at 12, 2 or 4am From my knowledge your sleep cycle takes roughly 2 hours and repeats through the night. The end/beginning of a cycle is when you're sleeping the lightest so when you wake up you won't feel too tired. Depending on how much sleep you managed it should last for about 2-3 hours before you start feeling really tired again. Just be careful when taking sleeping advice from me though because my sleeping routine is completely messed up from doing stuff like this all the time xD | 2009-07-18 04:57:00 Author: Dexiro ![]() Posts: 2100 |

I hope you realise you should stop this mess before you have life threatening health problems... . | 2009-07-18 05:29:00 Author: RangerZero ![]() Posts: 3901 |
Either way, depends on how "strong" you are. I can easly manage an all nighter (Practically do it everyday ![]() But i know people who even if they wanted to couldn't stay awake pass 10:00pm, so it depends, do you sleep late often or do you slepp early? Early = 8:00Pm - 10:00pm/ Late =1:00am - 5:00am (like me ![]() (Altho thechnically 1:00am - 5:00am could be counted as really early in the day and 8:00pm - 10:00pm would be lat. Bah technicallities. XD) If your answer is "early" then don't even attempt it and go to sleep immediately, trying to pull an all nighter when you're not used to it is too risky, specially if you have to be ready for something early in the morning, and will probably end up in you being late to whatever you're doing not to mention lettion you exauhsted as you'll probably fall sleep while atempting the all-nighter even if you didn't want to, and since you tried to stay up late you won't get good sleep, so you'll just end up worse. | 2009-07-18 06:16:00 Author: Silverleon ![]() Posts: 6707 |
I'm used to not sleeping very much. 5-5.5 hours a night normally. It's getting late here... I think I'm just going to pull through the night. Thanks for all of the input everyone. | 2009-07-18 06:30:00 Author: iiiijujube ![]() Posts: 594 |

It really depends on what your body is adjusted to. Since you are sick, I would advise against it because a well-rested body always performs better. I've adapted to 3-4 hours of sleep a night, coursework and procrastination are a killer combination. ![]() | 2009-07-18 22:27:00 Author: BSprague ![]() Posts: 2325 |
