I'm ******...

Archive: 20 posts

Eight hours...EIGHT HOURS! of creating and FINISHING my FIRST Level. Switches, stickers, EVERYTHING! I click Save Level, and then exit to my pod. I then Quit the Game, restart..ALL OF MY EIGHT HOURS OF WORK ISN'T THERE! It didn't even tell me my profile was full, but yet, EIGHT HOURS of my work is gone.

I'm ******...mad as hell...

What's wrong in this picture?

breathe......

Don't get angry at me for saying it but.... um... did you publish a locked copy onto the planet? based on the *****'s I'm guessing not. It's the only way I know to avoid the loss of work that happens with the non warning profile problem.

I don't know of a way to recover the 8 hours if you didn't have a backup or have a published backup. I'm so sorry to hear it happened.

I had this happen once before and i was annoyed too.

EVery time now i always return to the pod, wait for the saving sackboy to completly go.

Then i quit to the PS3 main menu thing.

Then shutdown the system.

but recently i had it happen 2 times in a row.

I deleted a some stuff i didnt want (my case other levels) and it saved okay. i assumed it was on the verge of full profile but didnt tell me who knows.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Now I'm ****** and stupid...

I didn't mean to imply that at all! I've lost work before so it's something I learned to do.

The thing is, I didn't play any community levels or save any more objects or costumes, just worked on the levels, too...

Now I'm sad...

Well this happens to me alot, so the only way not to do it is not to make a huge level.
Anyways, I just make mini-projects.
I'm working on logos for LBPC... if I loose them, well too bad for me.

If your thermometer went up while you were in create mode - that alone can push your profile over. The profile includes all the stuff on your moon and the bigger the thermo the more saved in the profile. I've had that happen a lot.

Now that you mention it I've had my pod reset a few times since the last patch - I wonder if the non warning profile too large non save problem has crept back in.... anyone else noticing this?

Yeah, I guess I've learned my lesson the hard way...I'm going to take a LONG break from this game, now...

I'll probably end up starting on a new level now, though. The first level might end up bringing the horrible memories back...

Don't worry, at least write or draw what you've got in mind.
Then do it later.

You know that making it again will make it twice as better as before...

Well this happens to me alot, so the only way not to do it is not to make a huge level.

Not making one huge level itself won't affect this. The profile is a culmination of all the info from the levels on your moon (thermo factors in), your costumes (saved custom ones), all photos, all my objects and community objects and pod decoration stuff too.

If you create a lot of or high thermo levels you will have a bigger profile than someone who doesn't but they might have profile problems if they save a bunch of costumes and a ton of custom stickers/photos.

It's the total amount of info that matters - not just one thing.

Maybe I'll pick it up again tomorrow...

Thanks for the reconstructive emotional help, guys and girls. That's what makes this community the best!

(I'll blog about this later )

That's true.
But isn't odd that you have this huge space, and you filled your thermometer.
Then you just filled in 1/5 of the huge space?
What's the point...

Good thing I exported the pictures of my sackperson and pod before I exited the game, though! Now I still have a chance for the Pod Decoration Contest :]2009-07-16 22:34:00

Do you mean the number of spaces on the moon? Yea that never made sense to me either.

Glad we could talk you down from the ledge Night Angel. Most of us have been where you are one way or another. Relax, regroup and I'm sure you'll find the silver lining here somewhere

I feel like I'm about to cry cause no one in my old forum said this. :C
Also my Moon is filled, mostly cause I don't get to finish my projects.

Hey man. I think everyone has been there and whilst that doesn't help, most people here know what you're going through! There is nothing you can do to stop this from happening, but there are a whole bunch of ways you can do "damage limitation" when it does. I wrote a guide to backing up LBP data a little while back, it's still rough and ready but should help you in the future:

The moral of the story is back up frequently. After every major change to my level, I like to go to "Save As..." and give it a new spot, and then call the one I was just working on "LevelName Month/Day Backup". Every so often, I'll delete the older backups, but only if the newer ones are completely stable.2009-07-17 00:13:00

@BlackToof:
I should tell you to edit your post as overpassing the language filter is against the site rules, that Night Angel did it doesn't mean you can or should as well, besides, i don't know if it was even rigt for Night Angel to do so in the 1st place.
Just a warining as it may and probably will get you in trouble.

Back on topic...

Yeah, sadly the data in this game is highly unstable, but there's nothing we can do about it but to find ways around it, like Morgana's save 'n Publish technique or just keeping a backup of your save-game in a flashdrive or in another user account in your PS3 (Just a User account, you don't have to make a new PSN ID) and updating it every now and then incase something as such happens.
So just back up your data frequently and all should be well.
(or at least better than losing all your data w/out any way to get it back. )
