Adventure GardenMaximovSephiroth
My first level, I wanted to be slightly challenging, bubble oriented, and pretty.
all
When you first enter head left on the sponges... grab the smaller bush at the end.... and you will find lots of bubbles.

After crossing the windmill, you need to place the appropriate sponge in each holder... after placing it PAUSE immediately... you will receive a reward after each one!

There is an easier way on the R-1 section, jump on top! Flip the switch... More Bubbles!

STICKER!! Place the sticker and abundant bubbles come pouring out!

Don't forget the side room!

Maze Craze has bubbles hidden throughout, along with many traps and dangers! If you fall at the beginning of it you will miss out!

Now I've tried to get all the "bugs" out of Adventure Garden, but there may still be some. If you find anything wrong, please let me know, so I can fix it ASAP! Thanks! F4F!

This level seems very what should I say hmmm... generic. It seems that you almost copied completely MM even though its an option I dont like it but besides that I liked the maze maybe you could add some stickers to the evaporation matter or what ever they call it. Still I liked the maze. I also liked how you made it competition oriented, you did a very good job on that. after all my criticism it wasnt that bad of a level just dont use templates again.2009-07-16 03:26:00

Well I have to say... I tried. After all it was my first level, I had to start somewhere. It took a lot for me to familiarize myself with everything, for one, I have never really been game savvy before. In all honesty, this was my first attemt at any game since... oh PacMan when I was a child! With all do respect, even though I used a template, I tried to make new items or altar as much as I could from the origianl to give it a different appeal without being too "complicated". I'm sorry you didn't like the fact that I used a template, hopefully you'll like my next ones.2009-07-16 22:08:00

FWIW, if this is your first level, I would say that's what templates are FOR. In any event, you gutted the level of its original objects and made significant additions.

On the other hand, using a template _does_ scream out "I'm new at this". So I'm not going to beat you about the face and shoulders with anything too complicated by way of advice.

SUGGESTIONS

*Put a Magic mouth next to the Powerup Killer/"Bummer" Lane. I thought I might just be going into a room where you didn't want me to have a jetpack. Turns out, I was giving up the right to chase more bubbles, and I didn't know it.

*Put a block in the background layer at the beginning of the level. I can get behind the level and just walk right past quite a few obstacles. (Having to do tweaks like this are the sort of thing that will naturally gravitate you away from using the templates, in your own good time.)

*Use cameras or stickers instead of Magic Mouths to suggest player action. Example: the tongue is pretty obvious; leaving the sticker switch visible, or pointing at it with an arrow sticker, will make it obvious beyond all reason.

*The platform lowered by shooting the Paintinator straight up has a bit of thin-layer wood masking that looks like - please don't take this as hate speech - putting a band-aid on a pimple. There are several reasons you may feel forced to have this here, technical or otherwise. Regardless of what your reason was, the easiest solution by far is to open the Corner Editor, and make the left side of your "patching" wood block cover the ENTIRE block of wood behind it on the left. This will add to the illusion that everything is attached seamlessly. Turn on the "Small Grid" from the Start menu, if you stink at making small motions (Lord knows I do).

PROS

*I can say, without fibbing even a little bit, that your level was fun to play.

*Given that this is a starter level, I find it refreshing that it was pretty straightforward, difficulty-wise. After so many people going the opposite direction, it's nice to see someone who DIDN'T choose to create a blank level, filled with Dark Matter, dangerous vehicles that flip too easily, and jumps that are as close to impossible as the creator can make them.

*Your judicious sticker use. Its a good sign moving forward that you picked only a few, and used them in patterns, instead of trying to "fill the space". As you start wrestling with thermo, you'll soon see how important that is.

Good luck on your future levels! Let me know if I can ever answer your questions.

P.S. Thank Lady_Luck by clicking the "Thanks" button under her post, too. She (and you) earns those little crowns under her (and your) picture that way.

Wow! Thanks for the great advice! I hope I can make some of the adjustments you suggested without my level killing something else... i.e. my bridge! For some odd reason if I make an adjustment near the back two levels, it deletes the string that holds my bridge up. Even if it is in a different area and they aren't touching! Plus... I have pretty much maxed out my thermometer, and it won't let me make to many alterations, but I will go back and see what it will let me do! Thank you again! Great advice!! And thank you for not beating me up! 2009-07-18 20:24:00

We've definitely got our share of art nerds and high-difficulty addicts here, and hey, it's their world, too. But LBP is ultimately a "big-tent" affair. You can play with your Legos however you want - there's enough to go round.

The string thing. There are some possibilities:

The anchors may be on a thin layer that you cross without meaning to (for instance, making a 2-fat block, or trying to widen a 1-fat, will interfere with any objects in the intersecting thin layer).

LBP calculates "shock waves". Bizarre, but true. Anything you build on the ground can "vibrate" anything else on the ground. There's a lot of people who literally hang their levels in the air using dark matter. This also takes up less memory than gluing stuff to the walls or floor.

I frequently have to kill pistons and reset them. String is a pretty easy thing to dislodge; you can "untie" objects sometimes by merely selecting them with your Popit. It's crazy flukes of physics like this, I'll warrant, that prevents them from letting us use "real" water - water physics is still the toughest thing in computer modeling.

Cheapest fix for the background: switch to Small Grid. Make a 1-fat, 1-tall block of anything, twenty blocks or so long. Slide it behind your two layers with three or four bits hanging out, hovering 1 block off the ground. Change the block to gas, move it all the way back there with Popit, then let go. It'll fall into place, and kill any silly Sackboy (like me) who wants to sidestep the intended path.

And one last btw: Corner Editor can temporarily reveal things you tuck into the background. Grab the obscuring object anywhere there is NOT a corner, then pull INTO the object. It'll cut a wedge into the block, letting you see what's behind. Doing this won't hurt stickers, but it will kill switches and glue, so be careful. When you're done fiddling in the background, delete the wacky interior corner you just made. The object should snap back to its original shape.

Ok played it again and I still enjoy it.

Cons: I could go behind the mountain at the start.

Pros: I thought you did a beautiful job of creating your own scenary to the left ( and up) of the start.

I would sticker the sponge holders to match their colored sponges and make the mag key and switches invisible.

Jumping on top of the "monkey bars" I saw the bottom of the bubble holder. I would move it up out of view.

In between the electric walls- the platform base looks like a 3 layer circle of stone. I would turn it to flame to blend with the flames already there.

I'd also sticker the body of the potted plant enemies.

I thought your maze was very good and had good challenges.

For a first level I thought you did an outstanding job. I believe you will continue to get better with every level.

I want to thank coyote_blue and Lady_Luck__777 for all thier great advice! I went through and changed all the suggestions you made! I hopefully I fixed them all! LOL! I had to make some adjustments to the suggestions, due to the thermometer was complaining at me. But if I missed anything let me know! Oh, and would you give me some feedback on Adventure Garden 2, I'm sure there are some adjustments that need to be made there as well. Thanks again Everyone for all the great advice and suggestions! Any suggestions on a boss for the final one on this set?

Oh, and I am trying to play everyones levels to return feedback, but some of you have soooo many! I will finish each one of you at a time Thanks again!

Greetings!

I wanted to return the favor of playing this one since you left such nice comments on a few of my levels.

I thought you did a really nice job with this one. Granted, you did use a template, but you pulled it off nicely in doing different things with it. ..and as you say, we all had to start "somewhere".. my first one was kinda goofy. I built a zip line and then thought uhh now what..

I have to agree with some of the other suggestions as well as I would make maybe some scenery in the maze. If the thermometer will not allow oh well... yeah.. been there! You might be able to reclaim some though.. do you have embedded dark matter, or is it glued on or attached with a rod? Other embedded shapes can drive the thermo up rapidly as well too many complex shapes.

All in all quite enjoyable, though the maze was a bit long and seemed to need maybe another portal especially prior to your first pause here wobble bolt doors. ...though I might have gotten to that in the reverse direction. If that is the case, then you might have to rethink how you present elements when you have a multipath scenary.

Great job! I will play your other one as soon as I get a chance.

Sorry for the delayed reply my PSN connection sometimes is horrible so i only recently was able to play your level.

Anyway, heres my thoughts

I thought it was a fun level to play, good platforming, not too difficult but not too boring. This level was easy and enjoyable. I like the detail put into the level, except i think this might be a template? Anyway it doesn't make that much of a difference to me. The maze was fun, i made it through without hitting any dead ends, but that means i didnt get many points >.<

The only problem for me was probably the fact that you used a template. I think?

Anyway good level overall 5/5 stars

I went back in and decorated up my maze area. Granted you can now grab the walls, well the non dangerous ones anyway. It added a little color and texture to the area. I hope you'll like the change, or if it just doesn't work, let me know, constructive feedback is always welcomed.2009-07-24 21:04:00
