Sky Pirate: IntroductionToinkz Being a Captain of your very own airship, its time to grab the wheel and search for Captain Sid in this swashbuckling air adventure! (1 Player Recommended) all Check it out, and tell me what yall think. :arg: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v617/thehivetyrant/APhoto_2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v617/thehivetyrant/APhoto_4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v617/thehivetyrant/APhoto_5.jpg 2nd level is now published, Sky Pirate: Shipwreck Cove | 2009-07-15 18:48:00 Author: Toinkz Posts: 19 |
In the very beginning its very hard to find the wheel. By the first light house there that wavy ladder is the switching of the planes some times doesnt work. The visuals were magnificent so dont worry this level is really good | 2009-07-16 03:41:00 Author: Mod5.0 Posts: 1576 |
Yeah, the wheel is kinda small, but its just proportion to the size of the ship. Imah try to make the switch a lil bigger for the small ship. And thanks for the feedback yo!:arg: | 2009-07-16 04:40:00 Author: Toinkz Posts: 19 |
Just played this. gorgeous visuals, the ships are really well done. I thought there were a little too many pirates of teh carribean references, but thats your call Is this the full introduction, or still a WIP? The end "coming soon" confused me. Either way, it felt kind of short, due to the amount of work in the visuals i imagine. look forward to the next one, no F4F necessary. | 2009-07-16 06:44:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
Haha, yeah, the Bretheren Court and the Ship Wreck Cove came from the Movie. And yeah this is all teh Intro, im currently workin on the second one. Hope it comes out as good as the first, but longer, hopefully. Thanks for the feedback! | 2009-07-16 07:18:00 Author: Toinkz Posts: 19 |
My only beef would probably be the same as what someone else mentioned: walking out of the bar, there's a two-plane island with scenery obstructing where the two planes meet. I just kept running on the first plane and fell to my grave. I love airship levels, and your airships in particular. You'll see me around again. No F4F necessary. | 2009-07-16 14:30:00 Author: coyote_blue Posts: 422 |
Hi . I've played your level and here is my feedback Pros : Great design Nice atmosphere great custom objects love the parrot Cons : Difficult to see the wheel as mentioned already but I wouldn't worry about resizing it. It just needs to be more noticeable. maybe with a light shining on it or a light colour sticker. Your call. A few more sounds in some areas would enhance it even more. Particularly the windmill. If you have the Ico pack there's a good windmill sound in there. If not just a creaky wood maybe ? After all your brilliant design it was a shame to see the big red switches in the little boats. Could you hide them ? If you've left them visible on purpose maybe just a black sticker on them would be better so they don't stand out too much. Overall : Brilliant level , especially impressive for a first and great fun. I've made over 40 levels now and still struggling to meet that sort of design. You have a very artistic eye and I'm looking forward to your future levels as they'll be awesome judging by this one. | 2009-07-16 15:49:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
Nice, thanks for the feedbacks guys. I'll change the red switch to a sensor one. And about the 2 planes, Imah have to fix that too. | 2009-07-16 17:09:00 Author: Toinkz Posts: 19 |
Yeah, the wheel is kinda small, but its just proportion to the size of the ship. Imah try to make the switch a lil bigger for the small ship. And thanks for the feedback yo!:arg: No problem dude. always trying to help | 2009-07-16 17:52:00 Author: Mod5.0 Posts: 1576 |
Well, the level is kinda great. The art & design was incredible, especially the ships, and the scenario was is very well done. The only thing I think you should change is the music, because it sometimes doesn't combines with the atmosphere, like aboard the ship, where it should sound more epic or something. In the end, I give you 4 stars :star::star::star::star: | 2009-07-16 19:20:00 Author: Shadowmoser Posts: 17 |
Yeah, I see your point on the music selection. Thanks for your feedback!:arg: | 2009-07-16 20:14:00 Author: Toinkz Posts: 19 |
Great level, the attention to detail and atmosphere are fantastic. I really felt like I was travelling the skies! Must have taken quite some time to make. My complaints are, there aren't any puzzles or excitement, and I wasn't sure why I was actually looking for this other pirate dude. If the reason was explained, I missed it. And the fact I never actually found him didn't really help. But the art and realism, etc are superb, so :star::star::star::star: from me. | 2009-07-16 20:36:00 Author: LieutenantFatman Posts: 465 |
Captain Sid will be seen on the 2nd part, or 3rd one. yeah the reason for searching the captain wasnt really explained. But hopefully it will all make sense when the 2nd lvl comes out. Stay tuned yo! | 2009-07-16 22:19:00 Author: Toinkz Posts: 19 |
I think this is a visually beautiful level that reminds me very much of Skies of Arcadia. The ship was beautifully crafted along with the stunning scenery. I loved the smoke from the chimneys and the clouds were gorgeous. Very well done! Icey | 2009-07-17 14:46:00 Author: IceMaiden Posts: 1057 |
Thanks yo!:arg: | 2009-07-17 17:28:00 Author: Toinkz Posts: 19 |
This level is really beautiful! It's very similar in style to jump_button's Sky Town series, which I absolutely love. The design of the ship is very cool! I'm currently in the process of making a sequel to my Zephyr Valley level (also features sky pirates, although a bit different) and in the sequel I was thinking about incorporating a flying ship. But now that I've seen yours, I'm not sure I could create something as awesome as that! I might have to try and bribe you into creating one for me! Anyway, I enjoyed the level and the story so far. It was a bit short and there wasn't a whole lot for the player to do, but for an introduction level, I think it works just fine. I look forward to playing the next installment! | 2009-07-17 21:23:00 Author: mrsupercomputer Posts: 1335 |
Thanks, yeah I was actually inspired by Sky Town. Your right, the level is pretty short, but hopefully the second one will be longer. Thanks again for the feedback.:arg: | 2009-07-17 23:41:00 Author: Toinkz Posts: 19 |
Played through it last night and thought it was really beautiful. I love your clouds and the pirate ship is awesome. The thing that stood out for me was the beautiful moonlight quality of the lighting you have. Soft blues and the clouds look luminous - very lovely. I could see the inspiration from jump_button's Sky Town levels and a little bit from mrsupercomputer's Zephyr Valley too. The pirate bar was cute. I liked the different characters in there but I almost wanted some movement and sound in there. Like breaking glass occasionally (it's a rowdy pirate bar after all) I also liked the palm tree shapes you made. They silhouette nicely. My only two complaints would be that it's short (I tend to make shorter levels too so it's not a huge problem in my book) and that we don't get to meet the guy we're looking for. Makes it end kind of suddenly with no sense of accomplishment. Only technical problem I found was if you start moving the ship at the end of the level in multiplayer mode and someone drops from the ship (camera follows them and we die from being off screen) then they activate a lower checkpoint (I watched it happen) you can't finish the level. I'd suggest putting a line of gas under the ship so if anyone falls out they die and you can respawn on the ship and finish the level. I gave it 5 stars & hearted it. Thanks for sharing it! | 2009-07-19 00:56:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Played it, loved it, hearted it! | 2009-07-19 05:09:00 Author: Mr_T-Shirt Posts: 1477 |
Very nice level, I have to say though it was rather short and the music seemed very out of place. I love your sails, I may have to mimic them somewhat I was kind of expecting a full blown flying ship which could be controlled, but since that wasn't the case the level could have been longer in some sense. For an idea on what I'm talking about look at my level here Vela Celestia (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=p=242960#post242960) Forgot I updated it too. Other than that you got 4 stars out of my | 2009-07-20 19:08:00 Author: Waldo Posts: 108 |
my ear's are burning this level be on my must play for some time not got around to it yet but will look really good oh and I see Zephyr Valley cool level as well ^^ but dont think he saw my level back then with my first sky town he just a bit of a steampunk like me lol >:o but then i find a level called sky town that just a copy of my first two sky town levels mixed up | 2009-07-20 19:28:00 Author: jump_button Posts: 1014 |
WOW, this is one of the most detailed levels I have ever played! The ship was amazingly detailed as were the characters in the level. It was kinda short but it was an introduction so I understand. The only thing I can really tell you is that on the windmills there are some giant motor bolts. I think you should either make them smaller or put them invisible. :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart from me. I can't wait for the next part! | 2009-07-21 18:23:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
Yarrrrrrr!!! Did anyone say pirates? :arg: I'm going to play this level, looks great from what I see in the pictures. | 2009-07-21 19:25:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |
wow! Thanks for all the feedbacks guys! im still workin on the 2nd one, and im really trying to make it longer. but ya'll just have to wait! :arg: | 2009-07-22 06:49:00 Author: Toinkz Posts: 19 |
Played the level a few minutes ago, I really liked it. PROS: +Great visuals, loved the characters in the bar and not to mention the beautiful clouds. +Short, but sweet. (Isn't that what an introduction is suppose to be?) +Not much else to say except it was pretty fun. -One thing that you can fix and it stuck out like a sore thumb, is the "R1" stickers on the cloud, it just doesn't fit the theme of the level. I know there is a sticker with the "R1" label on it but I don't know how to get it. Anyways overall, a really fun and beautiful level. Can't wait for part 2. :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart. | 2009-07-22 07:57:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |

I know there is a sticker with the "R1" label on it but I don't know how to get it. I give it out in my Sticker Museum level, so does Jaeyden in his Tye Dye level and also another person gives it out in a level named Hidden Stickers . | 2009-07-22 08:03:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
Oh cool. Im gonna have to get that sticker. | 2009-07-22 23:29:00 Author: Toinkz Posts: 19 |
Cool stuff, but a bit on the short side. | 2009-07-24 14:26:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I played this level last week, really well done. The ship is a real show stopper in this one, very detailed and oozing with charm. It is, as some pointed out, obvious that you took inspiration from the Sky Town series here and there but there is nothing really wrong with that. For some reason I really dug that parrot character! The bar was also a nice touch and felt crowded in the good way. It is an introduction level so the lenght is okay as long as you promis us that the next one will be a little longer and that it will have a little more player participation!! I can't remember it that well but I do think I hearted it and gave it 5 stars. Well done, Toinkz!! | 2009-07-24 14:36:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
