PS3 on the brink again

Archive: 9 posts

In february my 60 gig ps3 gave up on me. it all started with putting in a ps3 game and the blue light shining away but no disc was displayed. this got worse and worse untill the ps3 just plain wouldn't switch on. it was out of warrenty and i ended up shelling out another ?300 for a new one.

Now it's been about 5 months since i bought the new one and i woke up this morning inserted LBP and like before the blue light shined away but no disc was dissplayed and it was the same with every game i put in. i then switched it off and then it worked fine. This is the start of it becoming unusable, and thanks you very much sony but i've only owned this one for 5 months. this time it is in warrenty so i can have it fixed or replaced for free but thats not the point... my confidence and loyalty in sony are being tested and i have to say that i think less of them these days. i hope my ps3 lives for another day at least

It's interesting... consoles NEVER used to fail. It seems the more our consoles resemble super computers the more unstable they get. They generate a lot more heat, have MUCH more sophisticated parts.

Maybe the answer is to re-adopt the Atari Jaquar as the hardware standard.

You're exactly right.

So, what exactly was the problem with your first PS3? BD drive go out of what? It's interesting that not only do you have two fail on you but you wind up with the same exact failure. Curious indeed.

They should release a ps1 with the xmb

And then get developers to start making ps1 games again

Maybe it's time to stop heating muffins in the PS3 drive.

Problem is that the PS1 used a CD drive, which is still susceptable to failure. Pong, on the other hand, is far more rugged.

My ps1 never broke on me though so it can't be too bad
And it's still my favourite console!

Yes, but other consoles used cartridges, which pretty much always broke after year or two. Then you'd have to blow in it for an hour.

PSone sounds nice. Maybe we should go back to the SNES days.

I don't remember what happened exactly, but I know I did eventually have to buy a replacement PlayStation way back when. Seems like the drive stopped working altogether, but I couldn't say for sure.

Put your data on a pendrive.

Then copy it to another pendrive+put it on the computer and keep the pendrive in a safe place.

Anyway none of my consoles have EVER died, my wii, ps3, ps1, ps2, ds, dsi, gameboy.
