Enemy I made stopped moving...

Archive: 4 posts

So, I was working on my cave level (it's kinda a big deal, I'm sure you've read about it) and I was attempting to make a cave rat enemy (enemies are hard to make, by the way). So, I took some cardboard, made the shapes I wanted, bolted the head (which is thin) to the body (with is one plane thick) and stuck a couple legs to the bottom. This worked great a few times, except for the fact that it wasn't any kind of deadly. So, after a few different (and failed) attempts at making it deadly, I just made a circle of horrible gas and glued it to the body, bolted the head back on, etc. But, when I dropped it back down on the ground, it won't follow my sack anymore. I've got it set to follow with a giant awareness radius, and it makes the noise that it's supposed to when it starts following you, it just doesn't move. Anyone else have this problem/know how to fix it?

And on an unrelated note (but it's really not) does anyone else have trouble getting changes made in the "tweak" menu to stick? I find I'll have to set the tightness to 10 on a bolt two or three times before it finally saves. (It's related cos that's how I'm holding the head to the body)

As to your first question, the problem is that you glued the gas to the object. If you remove and attatch a new leg i believe the problem should solve itself. I had a similar problem when making the enemies for my kingdom hearts level, i just ended up emitting the gas BC my legs would be a pain to replace

As to your second question, i think you're referring to the fact that you can edit objects before placing them. So if you place a piston then try to edit it without exiting the piston tool, you're in fact editing the NEXT piston taht you'd be placing. Either adjust the settings before placing the piston, or exit out of the tool before editing the settings. Its a handy feature for copying a lot of similar joints but can be a pain when you forget where you're at

What material did you turn into horrible gas? I only ask because if it was dark matter, and then you glued it, nothing it's stuck to will move.2009-07-14 20:17:00
