Sticker switch trouble

Archive: 9 posts

I'm having trouble with a sticker switch setup. I've been trying for the last 2 hours to get it working but failed.

I made some custom stickers and put them on the picture frame from the story mode one on top of the other . What I want to do is penalise the player if they remove all the stickers ( as some do ).

I put a sticker switch on the picture ( making sure the activation for the switch was the bottom most sticker ) and set it to inverted and connected it to emitters that I want to shower bombs down on you if you remove the last sticker. I've tried it on 1 shot and on/off but it just won't work.

I tried setting the switch to normal rather than inverted but the bombs just come out as soon as I unpause which they should as the sticker is in place. I just can't get it to work when removing the sticker. I went into play mode and removed all the stickers but nothing happened at all.

Am I doing something wrong or is it just not possible ?

On a side note while I was making the stickers I encountered a rotten new bug ( new to me at least ). While making them I was exporting them to the HDD to save incase we ever get the import tool. I had just selected export on one of them when a message came up saying it couldn't be exported and my game data could not be saved.

I was then kicked out of the level which resulted in everything being lost and when I appeared in the pod it had been reset and also looked really dark for a while. Weird and frustrating.

Any ideas to help me anyone please ?

I've been having problems with emitters lately where they won't emit anything unless I go and change where the object is emitted, even if I don't move it and just leave it where it was set to emit the first time I positioned it.

Not sure if it's related, but try going into the emitter, and moving the position where the bombs appear again.

For your sticker problem you could just reroute it through a NOT gate. Set the sticker switch to ddirectional then wire that to a piston with a mag key on it and a mag switch (you know the basic logic stuff right) then when the stickers are removed the sticker swith would shorten the piston. When the piston is short the mag switch is activated which is wired to the emiters. 2009-07-14 02:13:00

Thanks guys. I'm not very good with logic thingies , I don't really understand them but I think I could do that ok.

I'm off to bed now as it's 2:20 am but I'll try that asap and let you know how I get on.

See I should follow suit... (different bed though please) but I just had another thought. Try decreasing and increasing the radius of the sticker tigger. I had a similar problem earlier where I had to make a radius huge then shrink it down again to get what I wanted. There's definitely something wrong with inverted switches.2009-07-14 02:28:00

Just tried that guys and it's still not working.

It just seems like the sticker switch has stopped working. I tried it the normal way too so it activates when you apply the sticker but that didn't work either.

Has the recent update stopped them working ??

I used them in puzzle balls so I don't think it has. It might be worth trying the creation again step by step on a new level.2009-07-14 17:50:00

I've tried loads of times now. I had about 5 hours at it today starting from scratch with all new stuff and I can't get it to work.

They are working in normal mode now where they activate when you apply the sticker but I just can't get it to work on inverted when removing the sticker. Has that never worked ? because I haven't tried to do that before.

I tried it with pistons and wobble bolts and motor bolts too and with all sorts of settings i.e. on/off,directional.1shot. You name it I've tried it but it just won't work.

I give up now because I think it's impossible.

I haven't heard of sticker switches being invertible. Is it an option? If so, it might only apply so at turn a light off, or to invert pistons when the sticker is place, but I think that it's permanent?!? I dunno - I'll check it out tomorrow.

By the way, thanks for turning me onto those levels
