WTF is up with the newest patch?!

Archive: 14 posts

Latest title update for LBP rolled out last night in North America...

I attempted to download it this morning, and was greeted to an 80mb download that had an estimated completion time of...

Wait for it...

...Wait for it...

735 minutes

It then proceeded to sign me out of PSN, and give me a download error message...

So, are the servers just overloaded by people downloading the patch? Also, does anyone know why this specific update is so beefy?

This isn't the level portal is it?

First off, that update came up like a week ago.

It's possible there are connection problems but this is related your connection or PSN, not the patch, the game or Media Molecule.

I downloaded this patch as soon as it came out last week and it took 2 mins.

I downloaded it last week too and it didn't take nearly that long. Only about 4 minutes on my system - I was running internet on the PC at the time so that slowed it up a bit. Just try to download it again - might have been a connection problem with the network just made it say it would be 700 some minutes.2009-07-13 18:32:00

oh wow D:

i got mine a few days ago, maybe four. it took 6 minutes for me.

if you have a wireless router that you use for internet, you could try reseting that by shutting it off and turning it back on about 25-30 seconds. thats what my family does when our internet starts running like crap XD

if you have a wired internet, maybe try unplugging it for a bit.

I used to have similar patching problems, too. Do you have the media servers thing enabled? Because that's what caused all the problems for me. If you do, go under Network Settings and disable it. They may have fixed the problem, but I don't know if they have or not. If you do have that disabled, then I'd say you just have internet issues...2009-07-13 19:05:00

As for the patch, it's my understanding it was simply a preparatory installation for a future update. But I have noticed some differences--i.e., Friend notifications such as "Dudeman scored ... on Level ..." or "Dudette has just hearted Level ..." are now being displayed twice, rather than once...very annoying to say in the least.

Hmm, I'm getting this as well. At first, I thought it was two of my friends playing the same level (hence, both their scores would pop up one after another). And if one friend plays one of my own levels, their score has always come up twice.

Strange.

Even stranger... I've had this 'double display' for much longer than the current patch.

I've noticed the double display too. I used to see it prior to the patch but the time interval between them seemed longer before the patch. Might be why I notice it more now.2009-07-13 20:50:00

I'm getting the double display as well.. On occasion I have seen them stack up from separate games and being delivered all at once from the same person.

Example.. I noticed one friend giving the dual messages and not more than a minute or so later, got two more from another game he completed, another minute two more from yet another. The score on all 3 seemed to be enough that they didn't play them quickly.. and besides.. most levels don't even load that fast as the displays were coming!!

So not sure if this is a new messaging feature that went south or if it is simply LBP's messaging service that is a bit screwed up.

I can't even sign into the EULA network for LBP! It says 'Can't connect to LBP servers, Error 401'. What the fizzle is going on?!

I'm still online, I can see and message my friends .

Just curious-

I was just in create mode and noticed the tip of my cursor was glowing really bright white light from my pop-it... to the point where when I was editing tight or small corners, the light overlit what I was working on to the point I could no longer see it... Oh and I also just lost about half a days work on another level I was building... there was no saving involved... it just reverted back to a save I had several days ago...

This is why I never turn off my PS3

anything similar with this update?

The update is DLC as stated by MediaMolecule, no actual code changes. The update wouldn't change any of that, its more a random occurrence than anything else, but I personally have not had that issue.
