In game notifications - just go away!

Archive: 13 posts

I'm sorry if there's a thread for this already, but I did search for it before-hand.

Question: Is there a way to turn off the in-game Littlebigplanet notifications about friends achieving scores, hearting levels, etc.?

I ask because I just made a challenge level that some of my PSN friends play over and over, causing me to get a constant stream of updates. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't get notified twice when a friend achieves a score on one of my levels (what's the deal with that anyways?). Last night, I was trying to play the challenge level at the same time as 2 of my friends, and it was just plain distracting getting updated literally every 10 seconds. I appreciate some of things it tells me, but I don't think it needs to tell me when a friend posts a score on a level.

Thanks.

Edit: Shoot, this should go in 'help' shouldn't it? I apologize if you must move it.

This must be my biggest pet hate. As far as i know you can't turn it off.

Do we really need to know that CCubbage hearted "H4H - Level and Author PLZ"

or Grantos_UK achieved a score of 223,450 on "Cat vs. Jaguar 7"

Yeah I agree, they should be optional. Being able to specify which ones you wanted to keep would be handy too. I might want to know what levels my friends have hearted, but don`t need to know that they`ve re-published, everytime they want to add a bit of detail to a wall etc.2009-07-13 16:20:00

Well this will teach you for getting me hooked on you dastardly level then won't it?

I totally agree though. I never care what levels my friends are playing, I'd occasionally like to see when they publish something, but I'd rather just get nothing come through when I'm playing a level or creating. This is a kind of obvious thing to be optional IMO...

You're not on my friend list.... how did you know what levels I was playing?????

Interestingly.... this is VERY remeniscent of the types of levels that get played on my PSN... especially when I forget to switch to my sub-account before letting my son play.

Yeah, being able to turn this off would be incredibly useful - especially when launching a level. My friends are sitting there watching "CuzFeeshe just published Starship Troopers" 500 times.

I would love to be able to choose what notifications we get like I really don't care what score my friends get but I'd like to know what they heart since it's probably a good level.2009-07-13 17:18:00

Totally agreed, this has got to go. Another thing that annoys me is when someone tries to join you in the middle of a game and it messes you up. Instead of having to use X, they should move it to the start button and the pop up should be in the upper left hand corner of the screen and not right in the middle. 2009-07-13 17:20:00

sorry about that. i was trying to use "restart level" when i was gonna die, but i don't know if this actually avoids the score spam or not.

i noticed you kept going off line and figured it was probably because of me...
again sorry bout that.

I made a similar thread a while back, focussed on the Invite messages. They have the default option as "join", and if you're jumping at the time, you'll automatically press X and leave the level. This ruined several record attempts I've made...2009-07-13 21:25:00

The worst is when you are in the middle of something and it comes up, causing something catastrophic to happen. Or what frequently happens with me is that I will be on a jetpack or using a paintball gun in a very important area, and two or three of the messages will come up. I, eager to get rid of them, will simply hit "O" a couple of times. The messages will go away, but so will my jetpack/paintball gun, costing me time and personally handing me a ticket to restart whatever level I'm on.2009-07-14 01:31:00

My main FEAR! is when my thermo goes high.

On my current project i'm 2 mini bars away from the limit.
Any second now i'm gonna get the message:

Your level is starting to overheat. Try using less complicated shapes.

Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate this message!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know how high the thermo is i can see it!
And it just seems to come up Everytime i place a sticker and object, rewind, fast forward. Anything!

Thats my gripe. I would love a way to turn it off!

This isn't really helpful... but you can turn off the messages that say "so-and-so has logged on/off" (in the XMB options menu)

Considering those messages actually have some use, doesn't really help. Sometimes those can get annoying too though.
