Supermassive Bomb SurvivalSrAbsolution Simple level where you push a button and bombs start falling and when you die the level ends. all Hi, i'd like to take a moment to introduce myself to this board, i'm new here, my PSN is SrAbsolution. I made this trhread to promote my first level called Supermassive Bomb Survival, i know survival games don't take much skill to make, but it took me quite some time to make it and i would like for you to play it. It's my first attempt at a level and i hope you don't think i try to find an easy cheap way out of the trophies. I'd really like to make a better level and as soon as i find the time i'll try and make it. My level is simple you click a button and start dodging bomb's. I didn't upload a screenshot since i don't know how to take screenshots from in game =(. I'd also like to know how to get timed bombs =/. Check my level please and i promise i will try harder for better levels. Thank's for taking your time to read this post, i look forward to playing your creations. | 2009-07-13 06:19:00 Author: SrAbsolution Posts: 14 |
Most of us here on LBPC are tired of the thousands of Bomb survival levels on LBP. It's a cheap way to easily get hearts. Also, Timed bombs aren't given away in the story mode, but can be easily made with a trigger explosive, a circle of cardboard, a wobble bolt, a mag key, and a mag key switch. And the Pictures can be taken from the popit, and you can export to HDD/ Copy to flash drive/ attach it to your message. | 2009-07-13 22:16:00 Author: tjb0607 Posts: 1054 |
Also, Timed bombs aren't given away in the story mode Yes they are. Unless I was the only one who found timed bombs under Contraptions. | 2009-07-13 22:27:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |

I figured you would feel this way, but the only reason i posted it is to show that im playing with the create mode to try and figure out how it works and to make newer and better levels, i've only had LBP for less than a week. I appreciate your comment though. | 2009-07-13 23:02:00 Author: SrAbsolution Posts: 14 |
I will eat gravel before I play another bomb drop level. | 2009-07-13 23:06:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
I'm afraid to say that this genre of LBP levels has nothing more to offer to the community. I'd strongly reccomend you to go for another thing. You'll feel prouder of yourself when you don't do another levels that looks so alike many many more. When you do that, tell us! We'll be more than happy to test it and give you feedback; but I'm afraid, as it has been said, that no one can take anymore bombs survivals :/ Good luck on your quest for becoming an awesome creator! | 2009-07-13 23:11:00 Author: Keldur Posts: 628 |
hmm I feel gang banged. thx, i'll try and make another level when i get the chance, as i said i've only had LBP for less than a week and i wanted to make sure i made good use of the tools provided. | 2009-07-13 23:19:00 Author: SrAbsolution Posts: 14 |

Just ignore them, who are they to tell you what you can and cannot make? Bomb survival levels may not be original, but that doesn't mean you are prohibited from making them. I haven't played your level yet, but I will get around to it and check it out. Bomb survival levels are a great way to start work on basic contraptions and open doors to other types of levels, or other survival challenges. Try to expand upon the bomb survival idea, because while people may not like the various variants of them, if you create something truly unique, it will be looked up to. Check out DefMunky666's Desert Survival series to see an example of bomb survival levels done well. Don't copy his ideas, but he is a good example of how to expand it and make it more complicated and challenging and fun. | 2009-07-13 23:24:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |

Thanks, while i felt some people wouldn't like the idea, making the level did take me a lot of hours of trial and error, and while some of you might think it's cheap creating that level made me mor acquainted with the tools provided in the game. So i don't regret making the level, but i don't appreciate people thinking i am trying to find an easy way out of doing hard work to get hearts and plays. | 2009-07-13 23:28:00 Author: SrAbsolution Posts: 14 |
I will eat gravel before I play another bomb drop level. Haha, too late, i already warned him. And anyways, what's wrong with all of you people? So he/she wants to make a bomb survival game, so what? Oh yea as if all of your ideas are 100% original non ispired by anyone or ever thought by anoyone else before. Sheesh, to think that's how you welcome a new member, AND that just got the game recently, yeah, that's a nice experience for someone new... You ignore those guys SrAbsolution, and make your bomb survival, i'm sure plenty of people will enjoy it, who knows, you might do something that other bomb survivals don't have. And seriously, to the rest of you, who are you guys to discourage someone from creating something they want to do? | 2009-07-13 23:52:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Ok, my son and I just gave this a shot. He likes it! Now for my review: At the beginning you have dissolve above the hole, holding up the checkpoint. My suggestion, for aesthetics, is to glue the dissolve filling the hole and put the checkpoint over it - this will look better AND prevent people from simply jumping into the hole at the beginning (you don't want them to escape THAT easily!) After hitting the button bombs start to drop.... I'm not sure why you chose to use bombs that IMMEDIATELY explode on impact instead of timed bombs like most bomb survival levels.... but, what the heck! This is definately the bomb level for those that can't stand the strategy of knowing WHEN they're going to blow up. Adds a lot more realism.... in World War II do you think the Japanese would drop a bomb on Pearl Harbor with a little timer so the soldiers could just walk away? HELL NO! When they dropped bombs they MEANT IT! So, realism is a plus here. I also enjoyed the weird robot-dudes that wandered around and got blown up. I will eat gravel before I play another bomb drop level. I like Gravel. He's on my PSN friend list too. Please don't eat him. | 2009-07-14 00:44:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Thanks for the real review CCubbage, the reason i didn't use timed bombs is because i havent unlocked them D: . But this is my first try at creating, so i hope i'll get better. | 2009-07-14 01:05:00 Author: SrAbsolution Posts: 14 |
Gravel FTW. I will eat something else. | 2009-07-14 01:06:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
My first level was absolutely horrendous, so I don't think it's right to criticize someone's first attempt. Especially when they are just getting used to the tools. I personally think it's a bad idea usually to showcase your first level, which I wish I hadn't have done because it gave me a slightly bad reputation as a creator. Everyone has a crappy first level...Most people just don't publish it. Just make sure you spend a lot of time planning your next level. That's my advice. Take your time. I have been planing my current level for over 3 months now, designing the whole thing on paper before I construct it in the game. Of course, that takes an understanding of the tools, so you can know that your design on paper will work. | 2009-07-14 03:02:00 Author: ApellesJr Posts: 282 |
Gravel FTW. I will eat something else. Thank Grohan for that!! Now, I suggest you eat Rocksauron....He tastes about the same (smells way different though) | 2009-07-14 08:24:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
Hi SrAbsolution! Firstly, welcome to LBPC. Hope you have fun! I've played your level, and for a first attempt it's not too bad at all. As you already know, it would've been better with timed bombs, but I can't criticise you for that if you haven't unlocked them yet! All in all, not too bad. Don't worry too much about the bomb level syndrome. It's true that here on LBPC we have seen many, many bomb survival levels. However, I personally encourage you to continue experimenting and expressing yourself in Create Mode. Play lots of Community Levels and see if you can work out how things are done (and don't forget the in-game tutorials!). I made a mini game a few months ago. I never published it because I lost my data, but I found it a good way to play around with various mechanisms and it helped me work a few things out. Don't be discouraged: keep playing, keep learning and keep creating! Cheers, MrsSB | 2009-07-14 19:33:00 Author: MrsSpookyBuz Posts: 1492 |

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves! I get the feeling you're only posting to try to get this thread into the cool levels section! Stay on topic! 1.... | 2009-07-15 01:52:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Well gosh with all this activity, I think I might have to try this one for myself!! ...howzzat? | 2009-07-15 02:06:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Lookie here hear! It wasn't tin-tabulation! My ears really were ringing... speaking of Ringing... someone should be wringing these clowns necks... the whole crew of you... amusing yourselves at poor (who the hecks thread is this?) ... Well, that's not important right now... because I'm talking to you SrAbsolution(?) sorry:blush: If you need help finding the bombs in story levels or need a delicious friend... please feel free to friend request me here at LBPC... While it is, oh so true bomb levels are a dime a dozen... I commend you for making the effort at all... Really, I do. Lbp is an incredibly powerful tool but it is not easy... never. Artists struggle with logic... engineers struggle with the why of ascetics... I struggle constantly with remembering to, "Please be kind and rewind". The point is... the higher you reach the harder you fall... and by building any little thing at all... you've showed you are not afraid to fall... by posting here, you again demonstrated a willingness to exhibit and learn... we as a community have not exactly reached-out to you in a fair and respectable manner, for this I would like to apologize as you really have found a remarkable community... So always look on the bright side of Life... Congratulations on starting a thread... that became 'the' place to post... If nothing else, it is an accomplishment that you got to meet some of the best creators in this community... Not everyone is gonna create in LBP. So what, you didn't have the timed bombs from the story levels, open up your mind to the possibilities... YOU can CREATE your own! Ask yourself, "How can I do this?" That is how I addressed your same problem... Only got 60 plays on the level and it scarred me for life... but if you've got a taste for creating... your better get tinkering, and please don't let any of us dissuade you. I haven't been on the welcome wagon in some time but let me just say... Welcome aboard. | 2009-07-15 05:53:00 Author: Gravel Posts: 1308 |
Sorry, I can't try the level now, but personally, I love bomb survival levels. If you want to take a screen shot for the computer, go in game and take a screenshot with the tool from the sticker page (at the top). Then, go to the picture in your sticker page again, and hit the square button, and hit "export to hdd". Then, use a flash drive (or e-mail the pic to yourself, haven't tried that though), copy it onto the flash drive, and then just put it on your computer -GC13- | 2009-07-15 06:43:00 Author: goldenclaw13 Posts: 224 |
