So, what other games have you played that have involved your CREATIVE side?

Archive: 25 posts

Just as the topic title asks. And by this I mean, other games with stage-creation, map-making, vehicle-crafting, etc. I certainly don't mean "LOLOLLLL LOOK HOW MANY TIEMZ I CAN JUMP WHILE YOU FIREZ AT THAT CAN!!1!!!!~!~1" Also, do tell us which is/was your favorite one and why.

Well, here goes my list...

Lego Racers
F-Zero GX
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
WarCraft II Battle.net Edition
WarCraft III & The Frozen Throne
StarCraft & Brood War
N+
Megaman: Powered Up!
Mario vs Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis

Those are all I can think of right now... Rather sleepy, so if I remember more of them, I'll add them tomorrow.

My favorite one was probably... Oh, wow. Pretty hard to choose... MvsDK2. Simply because I maxed out the amount of levels I could make... Then I shared them with people, and all I got was positive feedbad. Seriously, it made me feel so proud of myself people were playing those levels and enjoying them, then asking for more. I hope the same happens with LBP! :]

Pretty much none to be honest. I'm a little concerned actually as while I'm excited about the game, I have my doubts about whether or not I'm a very creative person.

There was one game called Speedy Eggbert that I play when I was around 10 or less. It was a fun sort of platformer, puzzle game and you could create your own levels. I made a few but didn't have the attention span to stick at it for long. It was a fun game though.

EDIT: Just downloaded the timed demo and it's still a pretty good childrens game. The jumping is kind of clunky (he paused slightly and then jumps) but otherwise it's good. The level making tools are pretty good too. It wasn't physics based at all but you could do moving platforms really easily, lava, helipacks (jetpacks), water, you could grab onto boxes and push or pull them, grab onto a bar above you to traverse a gap, there was wind and lots of mines, enemies and other hazards to watch out for. It actually had most things that LBP has except simplified and not at all physics based (when you put a block in space it stays there). Should check it out .

Any Mario game.

Why?
Nothing creative about a Mario game?

Wrong.
The fact that you can abuse his moveset to reach places and spots that you are supposed to only be able to reach at a certain point during the game, or by going through a certain path, is creativity in itself.

Otherwise, I would say Okami, but then again... >_>
Age of Empires and their map editors...
Tetris. ^^
Any Need for Speed game... yeah...

Micro Machines 96, I used to spend hours designing custom tracks including one that was in the shape of the word sex.

Timesplitters 2 made a few deathmatch maps by copying them out of a magazine but it was too boring to do alot of work with.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: I wasn't really happy with the stage builder, but I continued to make stages until I maxed out my SD Card. In the end, the total came out to 346. D:2008-09-06 14:35:00

If anything, I guess Brawl even though it had a bad map editor that I never use, and I turned off custom stages in the random selection.

Let's see... well, that's pretty much any games that I played with any custom abilities... though I have tried game making tools, but those were too long and hard for my low attention span. Hopefully LBP will be able to capture my interest longer, and having some sort of team (i.e. this site) to help me on specific things and such will allow me to continue because I'm "needed" for something.

First point... i agree with 100%!!! That track editor is awesome, i was even playing it around easter time. It's **** hard too at times (as in, to play. not make).

However TS2 map editor... oh yes! I had SO much fun making levels. I made about 30. One included a story line. I was young so it was very basic stuff. But i made a UFO level... then it returned so you had to destroy it... then you had to invade the broken down UFO one time to properly destroy it... then it got up and running again and that was the very last one. Oh how fun that was.

And the TS: Future Perfect map editor was awesome... improved alot! It was one of my favourite features. I made sneaking games and everything. If you got seen - Fission Mailed!

Yeah i LOVE creative games haha.

I found to have real fun in GTA you always had to be creative. Otherwise it can get boring fast. Also finding new ways to do things in MGS (any) is always good fun. Same with Skate.

and last but not least my favorite mod game...

The Movies Game! : I made so many movies, very deep...

LOL, that was really cool. How many of those have you made? It seems like a cool game they should make a updated version with better graphics like MGS4 graphics.2008-09-07 07:55:00
