Do you own ... AN XBOX 360?

Archive: 70 posts

Do you? If you do, what's your Gamertag? What are your opinions on both systems? Which do you play more?

For me, my GT is Shadowman235. I liek both systems equally.

Play nice.

I've played on my brothers Xbox a few times and i hated it!

I really don't like the interface, the controller, it seemed to break randomly even when it was brand new and i'm sure there's other things that i can't remember
My brother only had 2 games as well which didn't help!

I personally think the PS3 is miles better

HARDWARE WISE: PS3 PWNS
SOCIALLY: 360 TAKES THE CAKE
GAMING(360 has edge, but PS3, is going to take 2009, the end of 2009)
OVERALL: I think 360 WINS. Microsoft may have created the windows POS, that we all come to hate, but their definetely taking huge leaps and bounds with the 360, and it all seems to be paying off. Id say XBOX wins, but I wouldnt count PS3 out. SONY is wayy to smart to just LOSE.

Can't you get Quake Wars on the 360?

Anyways, don't own one. But will probably get a 20G to start out.

I have one yeah, gamertag GrantosUK. I think it's so far better than the PS3. The pad is way better (apart from the dpad), the multiplatform games are better, and xbox live is far better than PSN, its a lot more of a social experience. I prefer the interface on xbox to.

One reason why I currently only play on the PS3 though, LBP!!!

I don't need one.

Someone got me bad rep for this sentence saying

That was pretty pointless and not needed.

The question of this thread is "Do you own an Xbox360?"
I was asked something and I answered what I think.
I don't need an xbox360 since I can play the same games on the PS3 or on the PC.

That is pretty harsh giving someone negative rep for that... He may not have explicitly answered the question, but by implication he did.

I don't see the point in getting a 360. I'm a die-hard PS fan, got an original Playstation just after launch (all my birthday and xmas money) so I'm clearly biassed, but the dualshock controllers are so much better, the PS3 has more potential and TBH, I don't play games for the social aspect of them. I go to the pub for that

At the end of the day the two consoles are very similar, because they are both fighting for the same market. If I was going to get a second console I'd probably get a Wii over a 360 simply because it would be something different to what I already have.

Oh, just in case someone is going to negatively rep me beacuse they can't work it out, the answer is "no, I don't"

I don't own one but my cousin does and when I go round to his I play it ofc.

To be honest it doesn't matter which you pick because you should do it based on what is best for YOU.

For me it was sensible to get a PS3 because my Dad works for Sony and can get discounts on everything for the PS3; also I have a pretty pimped PC that can run the games that end up being Xbox+PC only.

If I hadn't gone PC+PS3 I would miss out on LBP, Killzone, Infamous, uncharted, resistance etc.

I would've got Gears of War 2, Halo 3 (though rumoured for PC), Fable 2 and that's it as far as I know.

I'll deff get one once I turn 18 or so, or whenever my hands grow.

I've had both consoles since launch, but barely touched the PS3 prior to LBP coming out. Mainly due to the fact that there were far more games available for the 360 to begin with. However, having now had a chance to get some decent play on both systems, I can honestly say PS3 is my favourite by far.

I've had no end of bad luck with Microsoft, as every 360 I've owned has died on me within a year or two. Two of which I had to buy again as the warranty was out on the previous one. I'm now on my 5th console, despite racking up fairly limited playtime. I'm aware that not everyone has had this much trouble, but I'd be surprised if there were many launch systems still kicking about in full working order.

Breakages aside, there's also the fact that the PS3 has so much more going for it imo. Off the top of my head, much quieter system, better voice comms, Linux capabilities and Blu-ray.

Don't get me wrong, I do love my 360 (When it's working!), but not sure I'll be getting another if my current one dies.

I don't own an Xbox 360. When I was debating on which system to buy back in October, I looked at which one had what I wanted in it. LittleBigPlanet was almost the deal breaker for me, along with Blu-Ray because I had just bought a 46" 6 Series from Samsung.2009-07-13 13:53:00

I still have a brand new 360 on my attick, didn't even bother to unpack/install it. The reason i got a PS3 was because of the games. The games on the 360 don't really interest me anymore, they all seem kind of boring to me (mind you, I don't like shooter games). I did like the on-line experience and the fact that it's a really stable console (can't really say that from the PS3 as most things i've played seem rather buggy) i've lost count how many times my PS3 has crashed, my 360 hasn't crashed once in 2 years (until i got a RROD )

I own a 360, PS3, and a Wii!

But my favorite of the three has to be the 360 just because of how much better the RPG's are on it.

I have been playing my PS3 a lot lately because of LBP (it's the only game I really ever plan on it.)

I hardly ever play the Wii. It just doesn't have enough good games right now.

The Wii has some pretty 1337 titles out there:
-Super Mario Galaxy
-MadWorld
-Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
-Super Smash Bros. Brawl
-Klonoa
-Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
-Most Wii games shown at E3 this year

So, yeah, just wanted to clarify.

I own one, and despise the living daylights out of it. I sit here, constantly steaming in annoyance in its general directions. It's broken more times than I can count (>30. Me fail maths?!), cost us more in repairs than the sum of the console and the games on it. The controller's are clunky, have to have their batteries replaced constantly, and forever fail to connect to the console. Games break a lot of the time, and the console itself makes such a racket with its knock-off fans that I can never hear any audio. It overheats, it gets flooded with dust, heck, we had to cut a chunk out of the transformer to fit a standard PC power cable in, because the supplied cable broke and microsoft had put a little tab in to force you to buy a new one!

tl;dr, xbox 360 breaks all the time, microsoft are cheapskates.

Oh, and also, the games are OK at best. Plus, my PS3 has never broken on me. I guess, overall, I prefer the PS3 mainly because I can rest safe when playing it, knowing that I CAN play it without any problems.

I got a 360 and I love the dashboard. It's much nicer than the XMB and inviting friends to a party or partychat is supereasy. The mic is also ten thousand times better than at least what I got on my ps3. I got a jabra blutooth. I don't use the ps eye because that's more sensitive than any mic I've ever heard.2009-07-13 17:59:00

You can't really label someone as a fanboy just because they prefer one console over another
I didn't have any other consoles when i first played on an Xbox and i just really didn't like it

I got a 360 and I love the dashboard.

I've always thought the dashboard looked really cheap and cluttered, it's partly the reason why i don't like using it

I had similar problems to what you were having too Dawes, i don't think there was ever a time that i've used an Xbox without fear of it breaking randomly

I now own all three major consoles and the 360 was the latest addition to the batch.

*
Started out with my Nintendo Wii wich I loved until I noticed that there werent any really good games (besides a few gems) coming out in the future.
Oh heck, at least it still plays my gamecube games and has virtual console.

*
Initially I bought my PS3 mostly for Naughty Dog's Uncharted and the Bluray.
I would have bought an Xbox before a PS3 but, being a movie buff, high definition movies wheeled me in.
Then LBP came into my life and I did not feel the need to quickly buy an xbox anymore.

*
About 2 weeks ago, I WON an Xbox360 Elite.
Lucky me, I'm loving the console so far as I was a strong supporter of the original black/green box to begin with.
Only now it becomes drastically clear how much the PS3 online expierence is lacking in.....everything.

I haven't got that many games at this time but I'm enjoying what I've got
.....except Lego Indiana Jones wich I find hilariously unfunny.

I ahve all 3, and the xbox is my most played BY FAR> Mainly because i only play online, and i find it to be much much better for that.

The controller *is* better in my opinion, the sticks and triggers are much better for racing games, and allow much easier aiming on shooters.

I don't ahve a problem with the PS3, but i bought it for GT5 and LBP. LBP rules, but GT5 is about to be owned by Forza 3. If GT5 ever comes out in time to be owned that is....

I don`t have one but have played my cousin's. Nothing about it really blew me away tbh but then he doesn`t have it online so I know it wasn`t exactly seeing a 360 at its best.

My personal view is that the PS3 XMB was a simpler system and works better. I was also disappointed with the controller. After hearing about how brilliant it is, I was expecting to never be able to hold a sixaxis again, but with the 360 controller, the bumper buttons were horrible and that d-pad was simply broken.

I'll maybe get one in the future if they ever get the technical difficulties sorted. Until then though I don`t seee it as a necessary purchase at the moment.

I have an XBox360, PS3, Wii, PSP, and a DS.....

Before LBP I played both equally... both had exclusives that weren't on the other system that I enjoyed.

As for the controller, it all depends on what you're used to. If I've been playing Xbox360 more, I like the controller more - and vice versa.

But with LBP the only thing I've used the 360 for in a while is the Netflix player.

I do. My gamertag's Snappyguy.

I used to like it 100% better than my PS3 with the exception of Little Big Planet.

Now it's more to the PS3's side till I get Project Natal and the NNXE oh and Halo 3: ODST. The best thing PS3 doesn't have, imo.

I don't have one because I already had a PS3 before buying it.

The first year I wouldn't touch the thing even with a 10 foot pole because the machine was well behind my customer standards. They were simply breaking. All of them. For me to buy something made to break at 400$... there is no possible game to justify this scam. Add to this that I always been against multiple Microsoft business practices and can't do anything else than encouraging them "the less possible".

At some point the machine became stable, wait, they just release last spring their new motherboard, the Jasper, the first one that probably doesn't break at your grand mother's coughing sound. But now I own plenty of PS3 games, Wii games, DS games and PSP games. Having another console ranking in new games on my shelve would probably be a financial suicide. Ok, more like a gaming time suicide.

Lastly, there never been a generation with 2 consoles having such similar experiences of play. There's many great exclusives on both and multiplatforms game are almost identical. When you have a 360 it's hard to justify having a PS3 and vice-versa.

I'm really interested in Alan Wake and Forza 3 right now, but this hardly justify 299$ US for me. Those games there are 210$ each. (299+60+60) / 2

Well, I do own a Xbox 360. It's currently gathering dust in a corner, however. I haven't turned it on for over a year.

I bought a launch model and it lasted quite a while, a good two years I think. Yet eventually, as I think every single launch model has down, it red ringed me. I got a free replacement which was the first HDMI version of the 360. I have hardly used it though. This new model half the time, as well as making a hugely loud fan sound that the system always has, tends to make a sound like it's trying to eat the disc that inserted in it. Like a horrible sickening crunching sound. The discs were always fine though, but it sure is an awful sound. Sometimes it would stop that terrible sound by having the console stand up... but sometimes it would still go on. Banging it would fix it sometimes too... but it just screams of shoddy engineering to me.

I still have that replacement console, and it's still gathering dusk. The last 360 game that I bought was Eternal Sonata, but I never played it as the crunching sound was getting to me too much.

To pay so much for a modern piece of electronics that is guarenteed to break down within 2 years, and more likely in 1 year, is just a terrible thing. Certainly warranty can cover most things, and I also understand that current electronics is very complicated and heat is a big issue. But it just breaks down too much for me to justify using it. My megadrive still works fine, and it's 20 years old. Most people's consoles that are 10 years old are still fine as well.

Admitedly, I've had my PS2 break down after I think 5 years, and my PSP has broken twice and the DS once, but those are portable systems and I tend not to treat portable consoles all that lightly. But for a modern console which is sitting still to be so unreliable... I just can't bring myself to play it.

Anyway though, the main system I am using right now is actually the Wii of all things. I've gotten into Animal Crossing: Let's go to the City and it's a hugely addictive and rewarding game, though overlooked by most serious gamers.

I also use the DS quite heavily as well. Portability is a very nice thing indeed.

I still do use my PS3 though, it's just not my main games right now. The blu-ray player means that it will stay the main media hub regardless of what games I am playing though.

I still think if Microsoft waited a year and had HDDVD support, then the console wars would be a very different place indeed. The 360 is outselling the PS3 in Australia because of the price, but as those prices start to balance out, most people I know would much rather get a PS3 because of the Blu-ray support.

I don't have a 360 and I probably won't ever get one. I mean, sure, there are some good exclusive games and sure, XBL is a social thing or whatever, but I don't like that you have to pay for online access when PSN is free. And, sure XBL is better then PSN, but that's because M$ has had a while to perfect it while Sony hasn't had the same amount of time to make PSN the best it can be... But if I was gonna get one, it would've been one of those red RE5 bundle ones... Those things were sick.2009-07-15 20:09:00

My opinion is that 360 has good software, but I couldn't care less about its kind of social gaming that is too invasive but I won't ever give my money to a company that has FLAW marked with fire in its history.

Then, everything is pointing to Mass Effect port on PS3, every day a new piece is added to the puzzle, so my interest for 360 games will be only for Gears.

I ahve too say that *imo* this generation of playstation has been owned by Xbox. It is just a lot better *for me*. Online is where i end up putting all the hours in, and it's so much better on the xbox. I bought a PS3 for F! and the blu-ray, and now the ps3 doesn't have F1 exclusivity anyways. + the analog sticks have no resistance or anything, they move too easily, racing with prescision is impossible compared to the 360.And the triggers do not give a very good range of acceleration and braking, it's on or it's off.

Same for shooters, the aiming is so much easier with the 360... basically, for online FPS's and racing games in general the 360 wins.

As for elbee's disc and fan noise, i don't hear it because i use a Turtle Beach X1 headset, so

The whole "Live > PSN" debate isn't a matter of how long the two have had to perfect the service, but it's a matter of incentive...

PSN isn't even 75% of what Live was during its second/third year

Actually all of the buttons on a ps3 controller are pressure sensitive, and it's really precise as well from what i've seen

It's up to the game developers to use this pressure sensitivity though

I don't actually have one. I was gonna get one at christmas 2007, yet I sorta changed my mind. Then I wanted one again for christmas 08' but then I decided to get a PS3 instead mainly for exclusives such as LBP and others. During the time I was waiting for a PS3 I became a MEGA PS3 fanboy and hated ANYTHING to do with the 360. Once I got the PS3 though that fanboyism quickly stopped. Now, I don't hate it, but the 360 just doesn't interest me at the moment. The Project Natal thing looks like it could be a lot of fun though.2009-07-16 19:01:00

Either way, the button's can't give as much levels of sensitivity as the triggers, because they can't be pushed down as much etc, and it is much harder to hold them in one partially pressed position that it is with a trigger....2009-07-16 19:01:00

In fact this is not true. It totally can give that impression though. It's the shape of the buttons that makes it uncomfortable to some people or give the impression of lacking precision.

Both the PS3 and 360 triggers have 256 "levels of pressing". The difference in physical movement between the 2 buttons is also extremely minimal. For the joysticks though, the difference in physical movement is greater. It really is a bit more precise on the 360 side. Both console's joystick have 256 levels but the deadzone is wider on the PS3 side. They are also less stiff. At the end of the day, you might get great at aiming on the 360 controller before you get great with the PS3 controller.

If I bought a 360 it would probably be a waste of money for me. None of the exclusives appeal to me, the controller would constantly irritate me, and I have no room for it.

Basically, it's a matter of preference.

One thing I have to say is that you PS3ers talk a lot more about Xbox than x-boxers (boxers loloolololololoololololol) talk about PS3.

I got the Wii, Xbox 360, and the PS3 (No, duh.) I don't like the fact that it charges for online play, sure, it's better, but I don't wanna pay for online play. So, I stick to the PS3.
Though, It's nice to own all consoles, for the Exclusives.

I own a PS3, but don't have much for the 360, although I really don't want one. I don't like them that much because I don't really like any of it's exclusives. I've been playing Playstation since I was a little boy, so I'm not planning on leaving them now. 2009-07-25 01:48:00

Dont quote me.

1) you pay for it, but it is better.

2) You can never end the flamewars, even if you do on this particular forum...

3) you just got quoted

Yeah Xbox does have voice messages and this one bugs me a bit. But when you use the playstation button in a game it's a black background with white wirting its just a bit cluttered and ugly . Plus if I am in my friends list typing a message I can't press the Ps button to get out I have to back out myself. The NXE looks heaps better.

Oh and on Xbox live we get to watch exclusive previews of Halo Legends, even if they did ruin it with a boy and girl anime.

I'm thinking of getting a Wii for my birthday though. Then I shall rule the world!

Urgh i'm actually considering getting an Xbox just because of how badly Sony treats Europeans sometimes

I know there might be issues with licensing or whatever other excuses they have, but there's so much stuff that we have to wait an extra year for.
Microsoft manages to release DLC to everyone at once, why can't Sony?

I'm just getting tired of it after looking at everything that we still don't have

Patience, young grasshopper, patience ...

Lol, J/K.
But seriously, is there any reason in particular that they do this?

Getting an Xbox is a good idea. The only thing I can think of that only Americans can get are the Community games which I tried with a new account and aren't that good. But everyone gets everything at the same time so it's all good.

Uhhh, there's avatars. They look a lot cooler than the things on Home. Games support them one of them you play as a giant version of it and build towns. There's joyride which is a free avatar driving game coming out. Splosion man every button makes you explode (yes, it's a real game and it's awesome).

The controller is not hard to get used to either and I like it a lot better than the playstation because of the easy access to the d-pad.

blah blah blah xbox blah blah blah

Nah i already have one.
I never used it because it kept breaking from the beginning and i hate the interface.

I wouldn't want to buy another knowing it could break on the first day xD

I broke my favorite game on the first day of having an Xbox. Luckily I didn't buy it from a game shop I bought it from Big W. I said it was like it when I got it and I got a blonde chick at the counter so she just said, okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy we'll replace it. :arg:

I think the caution of it breaking most people talk about is too much an exaggeration. Just don't put it on floor boards or in a stuffy little box and you're fine. If it does get RRoD free repair. Though depending on where you live the shipping stinks, I live very close to the place so lucky me.

The Xbox is great if you can get the hang of it. And what interface do you hate? NXE or Pre NXE (one it's shipped with). TELL ME
