Large/Small Spawn Gates

Archive: 8 posts

Hello everyone.

I've seen a few levels where people have created really small or really large spawn gates. My guess is its done with an emitter, but I tried emitting one and resizing it and it didn't work.

How does one go about resizing spawn gates?

Thanks in advance!

I think one of the recent patches made it where you couldn't resize them anymore.

You can still find them given as prizes in some of the glitch levels.

Perhaps the latest patch fixed that glitch, although I don't know.

Let me explain the glitch to you in case you missed anything.

Capture a spawn gate, then choose it as the item you want to emitt from you're emitter, you can then use the right analog to resize the gate, by the way, make the lifetime for the emitted item is set to infinite. When a checkpoint or spawn gate comes out of the emitter, capture it as an object. There you go!

Thanks for the info guys. I hadn't tried setting the lifetime to infinite, so either that's the problem, or the patch fixed it.

I guess I don't understand why MM would have a problem with that particular glitch, but they've let other useful glitches pass (invisible dark matter, for instance).

i find this invisible dark matter to be useful, actually. it can play a big part in some levels :O

I think the problem is that you were trying to re-size if after it was emitted. The time you resize it is when you are setting the location of the emitted object when configuring the emitter. So, in the emitter tool-box/popit thing, select the checkpoint, and when prompted to tell the emitter where to place the object, this is when you re-size it. Hope that helps.2009-07-13 16:03:00

I think comphermc is dead on with this one. And I know that someone has already mentioned this, but it is vitally important that you set its lifespan to infinite, because even if you capture it before it disappears, the version you pull out of your pop-it will disappear on you.
