Ok, so I'm making this lvl on LBP and it has alot of puzzles in it, right?

Well, It starts to say "Object is complicated" so I try to erase stuff.

Guess, what, I can't erase. Yep. I can't erase material. I can erase other things but material.

Also, it suddenly gets overheated so I made a copy of my level, highlighted everything and erased it all. Guess what? My temperature bar is STILL HALF FULL. The whole level is empty and it is half full. You got to be kidding me.

HELP LBP MASTERS!

Not sure your particular situation, but whenever I have gotten that message it is due to how many points that exist on a particular object. Usually the corner tool can eliminate some points. ..or you can duplicate and then cut the duplicate in half by making the square tool really huge and wack the whole thing either horizontally or vertically. Do it again and remove the other half and then just set the two pieces near each other supported by dark matter or rods etc... ..again, that might not be as helpful depending on your situation.

The thermometer can get horribly full without much of anything in the level actually. If you have a bunch of different materials in there, even though they all may be simple 4 x 4 small grid squares, it will absorb quite a bit of thermo.

Hope this helps!

I didn't actually help a bit. I know that it doesn't matter about size or anything, but I actually deleted everything in my level and my temp was still half full. Weird right?

And I litteraly can't delete.

If you guys got this glitch, you'd die. HELP

I've mentioned this on a couple other threads, and it's REALLY useful information:

There is actually many thermos, but only the one that is most full displays. The message that displays when your thermo is near full gives you a clue as to WHICH thermo is full.

Using this information wisely, it's possible to build much bigger and more complex levels. For instance, just because you fill up your material thermo doesn't mean you don't have a lot of shape thermo left.

Now, for the initial question - Jwwphotos is correct, that particular message simply means the shape you are working with is too complicated. Unfortunately, this can be problematic since even trying to erase the material can be creating more edges, which it may not be letting you do.

The best way to not get into this situation in the first place is to:

a. Use the edge tool instead of "free drawing" your shapes. The less edges you create for shapes, the more efficient it is. For great examples on drawing nice efficient shapes while creating pretty levels, check out JulesyJules' Star Wars series and MrSuperComputer's Zeppher Valley. Both of these manage to draw really pretty trees and other objects while keeping them to a minimum of edges.

b. Separate into separate shapes so you aren't trying to over-complicate individual shapes.

EDIT:

Can you select the shapes you are trying to delete, or are they ghosted into the background and unselectable?

The fact that you have deleted everything in you level and there is still thermometer left suggests you are suffering from silverleon's "termo autofill glitch V2"

https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=11345&highlight=termo

My advice is to look at that thread, see if it can help you. If not hope that SL finds this thread on his own.. An ever-so-slightly more informative thread title might help with that...

Sorry, no clue.. hopefully someone else has an idea to help you out.

In rereading you said you can select this object. ...just a thought, can you just paint a material in that same space and simply wipe it out? ..or possibly just erase?

Good Luck!

So are you trying to edit the shape or get rid of it entirely? If its the latter, simply turn it into dissolve and use a switch to get rid of it. If its the former, here are a few things.

1) like several people have mentioned, try and reduce the amount of vertices the object has with teh corner editing tool.
2) if you make a block of material large enough that it removes more corners than you make, you can use it to delete part of the material. If thats not the case, the game won't let you because the object is "too complicated".

hope that helps.

I was making a maze level one upon a time and I had a ridiculous shape, it was about half the maze, complete with all of its turns and corners and such. I wasn't allowed to edit it at all, so I guess we had the same problem. I didn't really know what to do about it, I just added the rest of the maze as a separate object, but I'm guessing that isn't an option for you. I would just start over with that as a blueprint and work on optimizing the object as several separate shapes, or rework it in general.2009-07-13 22:15:00
