LittleBigBotArena - LBBA

Okay so, first of all, I have to give FULL credit to Marino for coming up with this awesome idea!

Right, well....The basic idea of this "mini game" is this:

There are two Sackboys, two user controlled bots, and whole lot of tension (among other things that would destroy the mood if mentioned '>_>)

Sackboy number one would be standing on a raised platform to the far left...Sackboy number 2 would be standing on a similar platform to the far right, and there is a large arena separating the two in the middle. Each platform would have buttons on it, and these buttons control the bot.
Depending on the actual bot, each button would cause a different action to take place. For example, The red button fires a rocket, while the green button makes the bot jump. All these actions depend on what the actual bot was designed to do.

The aim of this mini game, is to destroy the opposing bot. There are many ways of doing so, and most of them fall under these categories:

-Deathmatch: In which the winner must destroy the opposing bot by attacking it's brain.

-Sumo Time: In which the winner must knock the other bot off the main platform, and into a giant pit of molten lava. (To ensure that the player cannot destroy the robot via the brain, the head area shall be enclosed with hard metal casing)

-Team Deathmatch: Two Sackboys on each side, working together to destroy the opposing team's bot.

-Obstacle Course: Various obstacles must be passed in order to reach the finish. The losing bot will be destroyed.

More to come later, as Marino and I think of them

A few steps need to be taken in order to play this level/mini-game:

1- A custom made bot is needed. It has to be the user's own creation, and must have at least four different attack or defense functions.

2- The buttons must be linked to the functions of the bot and tested beforehand, to ensure that no technical problems occur during the event.

3- The players must have read and agreed to the rules, which are located at the bottom of this page.

If camera becomes an issue (as in, one player gets killed due to the camera not wide enough), you can make the bots fight on the 2nd plane while the players stand on the 1st. The wall would be tall enough so the players wouldn't be able to move across planes. Something like that.

Anyway, great idea. I actually thought of this, too, but instead of the players being on platforms, they are within the robots themselves, a'la Power Rangers. d:

Erm, wouldn't it be awkward wiring up the bots to every different controller every time someone wants a match? seems like a lot of effort.

I like the idea though.

I like the idea though.

They can always have their buttons attached to the bots, so they just take it out of their Pop-its and they are ready to go.

Good idea but can you spawn the sack boys on different sides of the arena or do you have to spawn them at the same place?2008-09-21 23:18:00

Well is the whale going to be sideways?

What comes up must come down. (given that there is gravity)

Simply to start the match, one could spawn both Sackboys high above the robots and have them go to their own side from there.2008-09-22 04:09:00

Wait a minute, so wouldn't there need to be a level for every set of roboys? Oh wait, never mind. You can just send it to the host and have him paste it in that same level, right?2008-09-22 04:13:00
