Mars Attacks II: Dropship Down

Archive: 25 posts

After 6 weeks of not much work done to the level I'm now progressing quickly. Just in case people thought it was abandoned or I had actually quit creating levels, I've taken a few pictures to show the progress. I think the level should be done in a couple of weeks from now, I've tried to keep the cinematic feel of the first one, and add back in the backtracking and puzzles that I've done in previous levels. Once the level is a bit further on, I'll give out keys to beta testing!!!!

Mmm need to check out the first. I've hard good things about your levels from Beenimen/okita reviews, and browsing of LBPWorkshop and the likes.

Looks tasty.

It`s good.

On occasion it`s hard to actually see the switches, but didn`t take long to find them. The only other thing I have to say is that on the first set of stairs you come to, there`s a hole in the wall behind it that I landed in a couple of times due to layer switching when trying to get up the stairs.

Other than that it`s good stuff. That intro is quality!

Oh and on the scoreboard I think you have 2 decorations in the same place as it was flickering away like nobodies business. Right at the bottom in the middle.2009-07-13 16:10:00

Just playing through again.

You can get out of the level with the second jetpack. When you pick up the fuel container box, it takes you into the 3rd layer and you can head left with it over the gap without having to unlock the bridge. At which point you can go fly about.

The only other thing I noticed, and I know it`s at an early stage so you'll prob sort it out, was that not a lot is explained. I pulled a switch and was told that the left brake was unlocked. Then after a bit I came across another switch and pulled it and was told that the right brake was unlocked too and the bridge appeared. Then I took the fuel across. The issue was really that I didn`t know there was a problem until I`d solved it. Obviously after you get the left one, you go for the right one, but I didn`t know why. It was like Sackboy was privvy to some information about what the situation was and wasn`t sharing (little git that he is).

Anyway, I know that you always do a top job of creating stories etc but I thought I`d mention it anyway.

Thanks Matt, the jeypacks are there to allow you access to the parts of the levels that aren't connected up yet, they'll be slowly removed as the level gets linked together. The paths you follow now will changed, you'll go down before you go up

I've got quite a bit of story and speech bubbles to add yet, is usually
one of the last I things I add so I can tie everyhing to together better.

I'll fix what what you suggested today and upload the never version tonight. I'll try and fx this one as I go instead of adding suggestions before I release it.

Love the level so far... the version I played had some GREAT dark matter boundaries. If there is anthing I would suggest, it's to use some more dark matter. It's one of the most under-used materials out there.

I'm gonna check it out again tonight and do a thorough run through so far.

The dark matter is getting less and less unfortunatly cub. I could change the whole level to it though if you think it would make it any better? It would'nt be so much a dropship down as a dropship stuck motionless in the air, but anything for a better rating!

Thanks Matt. Bad news though, I've been working on the level all morning, and was about finished. I was offline, and for some reason the game was veryfying connection to host, then telling me I was game leader?? This just kept repeating so I had to restart the game, even though I was saving as I was going the level has reverted to one I left yesterday, 4 hours work gone!! I'm gonna have to rebuild evrything.

I ?%##?+$ hate this game at times, I'm a combination of downhearted and raging angry at the moment.
