How do I do this?

I am trying to make make a path that unravels. I want it to be curled up in a spiral and then as you walk over it, it unrolls in front of you, Can anyone please help? Thanks in advance!2009-07-11 05:35:00

Alright what I'd do is make a longish rectangle one plane thick, then paste on a much shorter rectangle in the thin plane behind it, sticking out the end slightly to create a sort of tab. Make a whole bunch of these and attach them together back to front, attaching a wobble bot from the platform of one to the tab of the next, keeping them as close together as possible. Then it's just a matter of tweeking the bolts to wobble the right amount in the right direction to make them curl up and unravel. Once it's working the way you want it, add a bunch of proximity switches so that each bolt is activated as sackboy walks towards it.
Kinda complex stuff you're trying to do here...

In order to make it uncurl, you're obviously going to have to cut up the bridge into pieces, then connect them, so that the bridge isn't solid and can curl and uncurl. As to the mechanic however.... i'm not entirely sure. Wobbly bolts would work, but would be a ridiculous pain IMO. There may be a way to do it with chains attatched to the structure, but i make no guarantees.

XD That's exactly what I thought of when I read this!
Actually yeah you probably could do with with a chain or two attached in the right places, that's a lot easier than my way. Then just use regular bolts set to 0 strength.

I was just going to mention this. The way it is done in that level is it is a multitude of progressively shorter sections wound up that spiral into a square shape. Their timing allows them to ravel and unravel synchronously. In order to make it so that it unravels as the player goes along it, make a proximity switch on the section before that is angled 90 degrees clockwise and has a 180 degree range, and its radius covers the entire bridge. Set it to directional, and connect it to the wobble bolt in front of it.
