Fallout 3 Abridged Halloween FunMrTran
Hi, everyone. I'm a big fan of Fallout 3 so I made a tribute to the amazing game. Experience your birth, live your life in the vault, and journey to Megaton. All the prize bubbles are optional and the level is faithful to the storyline. There is an easy and hard version based upon the difficulty of the Overseer. I hope you all like it. Any feedback is appreciated Note that I cannot add anymore to the level because it is overheating. Otherwise, I would add the nuke in Megaton

Having played both the easy and hard mode i think that this level desrves more than the 3 stars it's got.

I enjoyed the characters, i thought the addons to them like the moushtache and the elvis hair and such refelcted well onto there characters in game.
And you did a great job on making the robots.

there are several other things i liked which were the way you put prize bubbles around WITH actaul ways to get to them, puzzles/stickers/switches It is noticed and appreciated (alot better than dumping them on the player at the end)
Also your humour about nuka cola i found humourous, And we cant forget the intro with the doctor that looked visually great! As to did the getting out of the vault with the light being mega bright and then settling down like the actual game! Well done!

The boss was easy on easy and hard on hard, which is good but the thing that killed me most were the doors!, they are an actual layer and squashed me most of the time.
An easy fix to this is to extend the radius of the player sensor and swithc it to Directional. Hopefully this would make it so when you get close enough it opens and when your far enough away it closes?
Would this work easily?

Overall though i thought the level was well made, The materials you used for the level worked well. and i gave it :star::star::star::star:

I'd appreciate it if you gave my boss level a go for F4F:

Thank you for the feedback as well as playing both difficulties. I'm happy to know you got through it okay and am glad you had a good time playing through it.

I apologize for the doors being a nuisance. The doors were a problem and I couldn't figure out how to make them open and close the way I wanted to. I played with the pistons holding the doors attached them differently but that didn't seem to work. As for the suggestion of widening the radius of the sensor switches, I went back and played with the sensor switch until I noticed the word "inverted" a couple seconds later. By changing that, the doors are working exactly the way I want them to. Thank you for your suggestion. If you hadn't mentioned it, it would've taken me ages to figure it out.

Thank you again for the kind feedback. I'll give your boss level a go and give you my input

P.S. Pikachu is always watching you

I like your level a lot, and agree that 3 stars is too low. I gave it a five on both difficulties and hearted them.2009-07-12 03:39:00

Alright, so I just finished your level and being a fan of Fallout 3, I thought it was really fun. The opening scene with the doctor was very nice looking and the rest of the level was good as well. There was not anything visually stunning, but there was nothing bad about it either, so I approve. I wish there was a bit more to do on the outside, but that is what sequels are for! Well i hooked you up with :star::star::star::star: Give me more Fallout!! 2009-07-12 04:01:00

Thank you guys for the kind comments & the hearts. I took out the thin layer in the front. I want it to look more clean. I also messed with the color correction a bit. It's not so harsh on the eyes now.2009-07-12 06:31:00

I played through the level, and not being a fan of Fallout (nor having ever played that particular game) I was a little lost at first.

The opening sequence was great. The dynamics of it, and the attention to detail showed through, leaving me with an immediate appreciation.

Since I was not familiar with the original game I did not have an understanding of how the characters related to my sackboy. I did enjoy the machine designs and the sliding doors looked, and worked great.

I agree with another poster earlier, who said there was very little to do outside.

I know you said your thermometer was running low. The only things I would do different would be is add a few names (once again I'm not sure if there were main characters in fallout or what their roles were)

I gave it 4 stars while I visited

I gave this a whirl and had some fun. It's not the best looking level, but there isn't much wrong with it either. The way the vault looked/acted was cool, the opening sequence was great, and the humor was good for a chuckle.

There are a few things that bugged me though. Using a sackboy cut-out for an NPC is fine, but for enemies, you should try to make an actual object. Also, the enemies weren't very aggressive or hard. I did only play easy, so maybe hard is better, but if not, make them mobile and better shots. When you get outside, the camera angle blocks your view for the battle on the hill, so try to angle it more to the left.

Overall, I gave you :star::star::star:.

I'm writing this as I play the level.

-I thought the beginning was funny and I thought the intro was pretty good.

-The scenery at the start of the level looks pretty good, nothing looks out of place.

-I think it would be better if you made the radroaches move and put a brain on them, it would add to the experience. The sackboy cutout could be a little better as well.

-I thought the Portal reference was funny, and I also like how you made everyone give you some point bubbles as well.

-Another thing I like is how you got everyones facial expressions to match there dialogue.

-I think you should make that zebra colored sponge ball's grab switch set to directional instead of on/off, it would make it easier to get the prize bubble.

-I like the be-be gun section, the scenery in this level has been consistently good throughout.

-I liked how you included the side quest where you have to save the guys mom from the radroaches, I also liked how you made him have a happy expression when you saved his mom.

-I think you should put the gun in front of all the checkpoints because it's kind of annoying having to go all the way back for it.

-The boss was kind of easy, but it wasn't two line, and there was another funny line right after.

-I liked how you made the door open it looked pretty good.

-If you stand far enough away or behind from the enemies outside the vault they won't fire, maybe you could do something to fix that.

-The scenery outside the vault looks a bit bare maybe you could add something here and there.

-Just finished the level and got the number 3 score!

I really liked this level and thought it was a pretty good recreation of Fallout 3, it was funny had good visuals, and pretty good gameplay.

I gave it :star::star::star::star: and the "funky" tag.

I have never actually played fallout so I didn't exactly get what was going on 100% but whatever I basically knew the level was still fun. Pretty cool looking level too. I gave :star::star::star::star:2009-07-12 19:15:00

Thanks, guys, for all the positive input & generous stars.

nartules - I'm glad you had fun even though you haven't played Fallout 3. Thanks for playing. I'll look into making the outside a bit better.

RickTheRipper - I'll look into that camera angle @ the hill .

Dr_Vab - The radroaches do have a brain on them. It's on their belly. I'll change the zebra sponge ball to directional. There's paintball guns in the rooms near the checkpoints before you get to the overseer. You don't have to go all the way back to the drawer on the left. I'll work on getting the enemies to shoot if you get behind them and I'll try to spruce up the outside a bit. Thanks for your detailed feedback.

RadicalStan - I'm glad you had fun even though you haven't played Fallout 3. Thanks for playing it.

Thanks for your feedback, guys. I'll be sure to make those changes ASAP.

I finally got to playing your level, sorry it took so long. I played the hard version of it.

I loved the look of your whole level, especially inside the Vault. All of the characters you made were exceptional, especially the Fallout bobblehead person. I agree that if you had made the cockroaches move, it would have been nice.

I would have made the prize bubbles come out faster after you shot the trees, I got a little impatient.

Also, the enemies were not really hard, even on the hard version. The Overseer took a long time to beat though, he had a massive amount of HP.

I've only played a little bit of Fallout 3 when my friend came over, but I don't remember the Overseer's daughter ever kicking you out. I could be mistaken, though. You said the level was faithful to the storyline.

Overall :star::star::star:.

The beginning is great, especially the birth. Everything looks nice, but some things in the Vault are a bit sloppy. This clearly isn't the most polished level, but it is still great. It still looks better than the actual Fallout 3(yes, I'm serious). I thought that the whole level was funny, and maybe it's just because I loved Fallout 3 and played it a ton, but it was nice to see jokes that were, well...funny.

It's nice to see a game remake done in LBP that isn't of a Horror game and doesn't suck. 4 stars and hearted.

And since you're doing F4F, can you give me some feedback on my level, Trick or Die? A link is in my sig.

Thanks Awesomemans. Yeah it was my first "real" level so to speak so it isn't that polished. Thanks for playing. Glad to know you had a good time with it. Sure I'll do your F4F.2009-11-03 02:45:00
