How to Make: A Speed/Directional Vehicle
This tutorial explains how to make a simple vehicle that has a smooth speed transition that can move in both directions. It can also be used for other things such as conveyors which I hope to touch on in my next project.

How to Make: A Sack-Tracker
It shows you how to make an object which will follow the player through a level. It finishes with a 2D player tracker that you have to escape from without letting it get a lock on you.

The Sack-Tracker is probably the more interesting and more useful of the two, but give them both a try if you feel like it

The next one is going to be about continuous scrollers, and will probably contain elements of both the previous levels.

thanks for reading,

Hi there Elijah1066, Having fun?

I've just come back from both of your tutorials, Shall we start with the vehicle one? Yes lets!

I thought the tutorial was very clear & precise. telling them how to do it, and then giving them 2 examples on how this can be used.
And a prize at the end to further help then. Bravo!
I gave this one 4 stars because i'm sure this type of movement can be done with a 3 way switch? pretty sure.

Now on to the Player tracker.
I have done my own player tracker before and it went okay but if i stood still it'd go left and right repeatedly.
When i first entered this level and say you used the player tracker to give the tutorial i was mildly impressed but i did like how you used it while explaining it.

But then i saw the Scope test! That blew me away! Literally quite alot of times. (it's hard to get up since you have to stand still on the last 2 platforms for too long.)
But anyway that was amazing! i havent seen any levels with that kind of interactions myself and it was really good.
I could see myself using that sort of tracking sniper scope type thing on one of my bosses, if i did i'd give you credit for it of course.

But as you asked rated on usefullness and as i stated. 100%.
The combined tutorial, demo and with prize at the end.

5 stars for that level.

Well Done Sir!

if you would be so kind for F4F i'd like you to look at my Boss Level.

And i may speak to you in private about that player tracker. Inspiring!

Thanks for the reply Black-toof, I replied on your Boss Fight: Condor level. And I look forward to seeing you use the tracker, it's what the tutorials are for

I've also added pictures, which is the reason for the bump.

im new to LBP, or maybe i just suck at following directions, but when i try to make a tracker it either wont stop going or wont go at all. I have been wanting to make a Mario stage where the sun follows you and the tracker seemed perfect for that. please help2009-07-13 05:42:00

Well, the one given away at the end of the level should do fine. You just have to change the length of the piston between the tracker and dark matter as well as the speed. Sackboy runs at about 100 units in 4.7 seconds, to use that ratio when adjusting the time. Attach your sun to the tracker with a stiff invisible piston, then put the tracker out of sight in the back layer. Hope that clears it up for ya 2009-07-13 19:28:00

They were both pretty awesome and useful. I hope to see a lot more of these in the future. I can't really think of anything right now for you to make a tutorial for, maybe a slow-motion trigger?2009-07-14 07:07:00
