Hey guys, i am trying to become more involved in this site and so i've decided to post a level i did a month or two ago.

It's called Boss Fight: Condor

It was pretty hard to take photo's of it. So i only have this one.
Any comments would be appreciated, have fun.

Enjoy!

That was a pretty great boss, well thought out and a good sequence of attacks and weak points. I liked that you couldn't just sit in a safe spot constantly attacking it the whole time, that made it a lot more fun and challenging. I do thing your camera zones need a bit of work though. When on the conveyor belt it would be nice to be able to see the whole thing, just to show how huge it is, make it look a bit more intimidating. As well, in the final part when shooting at it's head I often couldn't see the boss at all and just judged my shots by the sound they make when they hit a switch. The design of the boss was really cool though! I'll definitely be checking out your other levels after this!

Got done playing this and it was pretty fun. The boss looked cool and had multiple weak points and multiple ways to kill you. His attacks weren't too difficult to avoid but they weren't a cakewalk either. I was disappointed that he never used a super attack until the very end and I was surprised that he didn't fly (with a name like Condor, I figured he'd fly). But those are just minor complaints.

My suggestions are to zoom out the camera to show us how big it is (and it makes shooting the head easier). You could make the camera emit after we shoot his chest so that we won't be distracted. Also, try giving him another attack other than dropping larger debris.

Overall, I gave you :star::star::star::star: and a heart.

I'd prefer feedback on Morning Rush.

I will do a check up on the camera and see if it'd be a good idea to zoom out so much while on the conveyor belt.
And also the camera on the face.

Thanks guys.

there's something i forgot to put in my original post. after you defeat the boss, there's 5-6 blocks of what looks like dark matter just floating where the boss was. if you could move them or think of a way to destroy them, that'd be great.2009-07-11 10:47:00

Haha you saw those did you

yeah i used those to contain the explosives so they didnt break the boss before he was supposed to, otherwise he fell apart. using brains on them usually destroys them. (although i find sometimes they dont, anyone get that?)

But it'll be hard to get them on but i'll look into it, thanks!

Great level, I gave :star::star::star::star:
I found that the obstacles on the conveyor were a bit too easy to avoid, maybe make the whole of them electrified to add some extra challenge value.

Also, thanks for the great review

Well what can I it was a great level with a nice boss design there was really nothing wrong with it except sometimes the jumping blocks flipped over after you jump on them. I gave it:star::star::star::star: and a heart.2009-07-11 17:40:00

Thanks guys some more!

Alas if i made the whole of the blocks electrified when the block pushes you back it'd almost always spell DOOM!

And yes, the problem there was weight, there isnt enough weight on the bottom of the jumping blocks to stop it going over.

Thanks for your kind words.

The look and feel of this level is amazing. I loved how you did the conveyor belt. The boss was very detailed and was a blast to kill. I also like how you have to keep moving to avoid death. I saw the sensor switch at the very right and assume it's was there to hint players where to stand so I didn't think anything of it. When the boost platforms came out, I jumped on one, got rocketed up, and died by electricity lol. So, I second RadicalStan's suggestion because I ended up shooting from the bottom using the sound as a guide to where I should be shooting.

In conclusion, this was a great boss fight. Will play your others soon. I gave this level 4 stars, 'machinery' tag, and a heart. Well designed

Wow, that is one very impressive boss! I was in awe.

I have a couple of suggestions though. I found it difficult to judge which of the layers on the conveyor belt I was on at times, and which layer the electrified blocks were on when coming towards me. I would suggest, if you can be bothered to spend the time, making one layer a different colour.

But the most obvious thing has already been pointed out... the final part of the boss battle. The easiest thing to do is simply stand instead of jump when shooting, and judge if it hits by the sound.

Perhaps after the jump, something could appear for a few seconds to land on higher up? And then disappear, so that three or four tries are required?

Great fun, I gave it :star::star::star::star: and the boss tag.

Hmm different coloured middle layer sounds like a good idea, but you are correct can i be bothered? only time will tell my friend only time will tell.

Hmm yes, how to stop people shooting from down below.

Re-reading i'm wondering if people are using the jump object and shooting while in the air rather than using the jump object and going onto the ledge to the left, as was supposed to be intended?

Can anyone comment on that? Lieutenant?

Yo, I got your PM matey.

I think you'll find people are simply shooting whilst in the air, then falling back down. I didn't notice the ledge you speak of. It may be worth making it a bit more obvious. Maybe with arrows, or bright colours, or simply some text.

As for preventing people from shooting whilst on the conveyor belt, all I can think of is a simple barrier nearer ground level.

i didn't even know there was a ledge to the left. what you could do is place the paintinator there instead of the conveyer belt (for that part anyway) or use some lights to show it to us2009-07-12 23:36:00

Hmm i hoped people would see that on the way down, i hope people will see this when i publish the new iteration, which will zoom the camera out, although i may stick a light up there too.

Great level

Here's what i Liked

The whole push back action underneath the boss, was a fun way to get a few shots in before jumping away. The second time around it was cake to shoot the boss, maybe make the radius a little bit larger.

After taking out the first few pieces i started working on the head, but this was difficult because i was shooting blindly up into the air.

Maybe you could put some magnetic key switches that activate after you destroy the first few parts, so that people can jump up and shoot the boss. A few stray green death balls could keep it exciting by having to jump over them while you shoot.

That or just make it so you can see up to the top of the boss from the bottom of the conveyer belt.

I had a few other people playing with me so when they fell down it made the camera all jumpy. This isn't really anyones faults, its just how the camera works in the game, unless their is a static camera.

It was challenging enough to keep me interested, but easy enough so my wife could have some fun too.

I gave it :star::star::star::star:

That was a very cool boss. Man, I hope one of these days I come up with a boss in one of my levels as cool as Condor. He was not the hardest boss out there, but it sure was a fun battle. Keep up the good work!2009-07-14 07:51:00

First of all, brilliant level. I, like many other people thought that the camera angles weren't the best and also the ledge that you jump on doesn't really look like you're meant to jump on it, because there's a small wall in the way. CONDOR looked fantastic, and the general boss fight was good. I think it'd be better if as well as releasing debris, plasma balls were also fired at you on the treadmill thing. :star::star::star::star: and a heart.2009-07-14 08:54:00

It was a bit repetive on the first boss, i have to say that it is a bit repetive, and sort of meh, you come down and unknowenly you get eletricuted. And you keep hitting one thing, and then you get pushed, then same happens.

I couldn't get past the head part all together 4 stars.

haha i'm sorry to hear that, i have improved upon it, by adding a camera zoom out when you destroy the chest area and then a light appears up on the ledge where your supposed to go, hope this helps people in the future.

I always find it hard to balance the gun.

I can shoot really fast but my brother cant.
I find it really hard to find the middle ground that enables it to be challenging to both the fast shooter and the slow.

Thanks for the feedback Adam.

I played this the other day and had fun with it. I liked how it wasn't just a character that you are fighting against, but the environment as well (running on the conveyor). The multiple phases of the boss were cool and challenging as well.

I also liked the "push back" mechanism to prevent players from standing and shooting, but I also managed to jump on top of it once, which allowed me to shoot one of the weak spots without worry. It was kind of hard to do, because the paintinator would get blocked, but I thought you'd like to know about it.

Overall, a great boss! It'd be cool to see him at the end of a full level!

The level was greate. A bit challanging for me because i suck with the paint gun =P but all toget a good level. Loved Lthe convayer belt thing makes it allot more challangeing. Also loved the wall that pushed you if you got to close. The bad parts where when you had to hop on the button. for some reason the buttons kepp breaking idk if it was me or your level so you might wanna check that out. :star: :star: :star: :star: (had to give it 4 because of the buttons.2009-07-16 17:41:00

I played this today. I apologise if this seems short but I had no problems, encountered no glitches, have no suggestions, all I can really say that this was one super übermega mecha mayhem ultra pwnage machine of galactic-sized epic WIN!! Awesome stuff, it looked awesome and played without error, very well designed.

:star::star::star::star::star:, I will heart tomorrow 'cause I cannot get to my PS3 right now -____-'

just played it and here are my thoughts :

i thought the boss was very well designed and was visiually pleasing. i also loved the way the whole thing was set on a conveyor belt so that the action was non stop and you couldn't stop moving lest you die. the layer hopping between the electrified debris kept me on my toes.

some things that you could improve on :

you could make the level a bit lighter because it was quite hard to see, especially when the pusher thingy pushed you away it was hard to see were you were. also , the bit were you have to shoot its head by jumping on the platform - you could just stand on the conveyor and shoot it from there avoiding the plasmas.

other than these few minior problems the level was great fun
