Yes, it's true. They changed all their policies on crown giveaways, and now you can only get a crown if you've published at least 5 epic, masterpieces that you've spent at least a 150 hours creating. They all have to be as good as H.A.T.E. 1 by Voltiare, sackboy's inferno episode two by sighwhatever, (The Ancient Castle) by _OIL, Lost Temple of Anubis by natturas, Zephyr Valley by mrsupercomputer, Tale of the Magnificent Ruby by geosautus, starcruiser by candyk, The Tribe by phife23.

If you're not trying to make levels this great, they will never even consider giving you a crown... even for contest winners, I heard. Now they pick two winners... one who won the contest, and a runner up who entered the contest and didn't win, but makes the best levels.

Um..... I'm sensing sarcasm here....

I don't know the "official" requirements but I know they give crowns for exceptional levels, contest winners, the YouTube thing (which I'm still not sure how to enter) and for other really unique LBP related stuff (videos, scrapbooks, etc.)

... funny how you didn't mention the Siberia levels, the only ones to actually get a crown just for being awesome levels (I think...)

Anyway, I think that, if you are making levels just to get a crown... it's almost a definite you won't get picked for a crown >_>.

I didn't mention another huge series of levels either, since I was really trying to dance around actually validating the claim, and causing anymore "OMG CROWNZES!" hysteria that's motivated by less-than-noble intentions.2009-07-10 19:49:00

HI WCF7. Welcome.

Don't let NinjaMic put you off. I had to LOL at his words of wisdom. I think what he's trying to say ( though I could be wrong , you never really know with him ) is that you can't take anything for granted. Just making great levels doesn't guarantee anything.

Wise words from The Rock too. I would echo that by saying don't chase the crown like lots of people seem to be doing. It's far better not to even think of that and just enjoy making levels that YOU like. Make them about something you're passionate about and look out for contests to enter ( just for fun ) and if a crown does ever come your way then that's a bonus.

Don't let it take over your life on LBP. It's a bit of a double edged sword anyway. I speak from experience because since I got mine I've had more 'friends' requests than at any time in my life. It's just a pity that some of them don't really want to be friends at all and are only interested in getting their hands on my crown.

Be careful what you wish for.

I was actually just spreading propaganda and hoping it would lead to an army of super mutant uber-creators all vying for the crown with a serious creator's work ethic, and producing epic masterpieces that took them hundreds of hours to make... and yes, being sarcastic.

This thread calls for this -

Yeah, although most of us like a crown, just create for fun and make what YOU want to make, and consider the crown as a bonus you might get. I think they still give crowns for anything LBP-related that's really good.2009-07-11 19:47:00

Lol, thanks for that video, Ninja. Hilarious. Was that made by x-kappa-x? I recognize a certain box-ghost sackperson...

Edit: I did some internetting and found the answer to my own question. Funny stuff.

I've decided I'm above a crown. Too many people have them now, they aren't exclusive enough. I want a Buckingham Palace costume. 2009-07-13 02:47:00
