Sounds

Archive: 7 posts

Hi. basicaaly ive made a gun that fires when i mag key comes into contact with the mag switch. the mag switch is attached to a sound/speaker thingy which makes gunshot sounds. The problem is that when i shoot the sound gets missed out on shots. For example ill shoot and it will make a bang but then the next 2 bullets will fire and it will make no sound. Does anyone know how i could fix this?2009-07-10 18:11:00

Are you saying that there is a magnetic key on the projectile being shot, that comes in contact with a magnetic switch on the on the weapon? There are two possible ways to fix this:

-Make the weapon shoot slower.

-Or make it so that when you activate the weapon, it spins a wheel off screen, this wheel has two magnetic switches on it, every time the magnetic key spins around, it will come in contact with the magnetic switch, that switch will be linked to the sound and the emitter, so the sound and projectile will be in sync.

Do you have the switch set to One-Shot or On-Off? And do you have the sound object set to trigger by Player Proximity or by Switch? What may be happening is your mag switch is turning the sound on (assuming On-Off setting), and at that moment you are in the correct proximity, so the sound triggers (assuming player proximity setting). But, as you do not leave then re-enter the proximity range on subsequent shots, you only get the sound once.

Of course, I have just made a veritable boat load of assumptions here.

Yes, it sounds like your gun may be firing too quickly for the audio to have time to re-set itself to be played again. I had this problem with a gun I made, and had to slow down the timing of the firing mechanism in order to have it synced up properly.2009-07-10 23:15:00

Well I'm no expert with switches , I find it all very confusing but looking at that drawing it seems as though you're starting position is with the switch and key close together and activated in which case you'd need the switch set to inverted so it activates when out of range.

If you want it to work when they come together as normal I would have thought you needed to start with the piston at it's minimum and set to flipper out and the mag switch on it's normal setting.

Just experiment with that and let me know what happens. You may need to tweak the speed of the piston too until it works just as you want.
