Interesting interview with Alex Evans
Archive: 18 posts
Apparently there are already around 2 million user created levels and there is some talk about sharing objects like levels and making some things easier. Have a look. Link (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/media-molecules-alex-evans?page=1) | 2009-07-08 09:06:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Very enjoyable read. Everything is pretty much what I would expect from Alex - lots of speculation, lots of ambition. I love the way Mm handles their PR, and I hope they don't change in that respect. They're a very honest and open dev studio. | 2009-07-08 09:20:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
Looks like their working on LBP2 and going to keep the beta levels..... nice! | 2009-07-08 09:26:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |
I think that they have to leave in LBP 2 all LBP1 levels, maybe in a distinct planet, but they have to do it. Anyway they must work on the downloading of the levels to HDDs. I think that this would even solve the online lag. Then the video uploading to youtube would be cool, and please add water. | 2009-07-08 10:06:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
why is everybody talking about LBP2 anyways? :O They should just keep making awesome DLC | 2009-07-08 13:54:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |
Cool they're releasing a demo of LBP Not sure why i'm interested by that though since i have the full game xD | 2009-07-08 14:59:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
It's interesting. Sharing objects is not a bad idea at all (though not interesting for me) and they mention stuff about creation mode too, tools, etc. I really hope this means some new functions/tools, stuff for creation mode soon. It's always the best type of updates imo. . | 2009-07-08 15:18:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
I think that something big is comin', since many MM devs are speaking of the game. Check this one out. http://www.nowgamer.com/news/802/new-littlebigplanet-levels-high-priority I bet on a GOTY-like edition with MGS pack and other stuff included from the get go. This would make sense, even more if we consider the release of a demo. | 2009-07-08 16:27:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I think i might know what the next big level pack is It's at least the size of the Monster pack, but i've seen evidence of levels too I won't release any specific info | 2009-07-08 16:50:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
I think i might know what the next big level pack is It's at least the size of the Monster pack, but i've seen evidence of levels too I won't release any specific info though What in the world are you... Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh... Right, um... Wait, what? What in the world are you talking about? ... Why'd you bring that /sniped Anyway... On topic, was an interesting read indeed. Curious as to how the demo will play out, though. Will it just be some story levels, or will there be a limited create part with like a few materials and a limited thermo or what? Can't see it being able to go online and check out all the levels that people made, though... | 2009-07-08 16:53:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Ok LBP2 would be fine with me if you could copy your levels..... err and all the DLC is included that was in LBP... Cheers, Awesomeness | 2009-07-08 17:46:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |
Well, now that way of showcasing objects would make my day! Imagine searching by "flying machine" and getting tons of options to implement in your level! | 2009-07-08 17:47:00 Author: Keldur Posts: 628 |
Well, I'm not French, and I'm not Japanese, and I'm not in the beta, so this article was... interesting to me. I'd actualy rather have the beta creations wiped clean but whatever... I'm sure there is a lot of blood sweat & tears that deserves to stand... I saw no indication of LBP2 in the article... I get the feeling when it does come, it will be available by 'alternative means' other than traditional retail distibution model and price point... well, here's hoping atleast! | 2009-07-08 17:58:00 Author: Gravel Posts: 1308 |
I think i might know what the next big level pack is It's at least the size of the Monster pack, but i've seen evidence of levels too I won't release any specific info I don't know what you're talking about but the creator pack is an example of small or medium packs according to media molecule. A big pack is something like the MGS pack. We only got one of those so far. So you better **** be expecting some full world of complete levels in the next big pack. . | 2009-07-08 18:44:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Dex is probably talking about the Dockside-looking levels introduced in a few early LBP trailers. | 2009-07-08 21:27:00 Author: Sack-Jake Posts: 1153 |
Thanks for sharing this information Syroc. Indeed, some very interesting dialogue in both articles. So basically, Mm says they would love a sequel, but won't admit they are working on one. However, when the sequel comment was made, it did appear to come across more as a confirmation, that was down played later in the interview. A Gaming Industry War Tactic? They also openly say they are taking Community input seriously...the desire for new levels, new creative tools, improved community aspects, and easier creation process. Another very interesting comment, made by David Smith, says Mm is inspired to make better levels that outdo the best of the community levels. Sounds like Mm has a lot on their plate with that alone, although we are aware their toolset differs from the toolset that came with the game. The statement also sounds quite competitve (to outdo). I'm curious which community levels they are benchmarking, to ensure their quality is superior. Rick | 2009-07-08 23:15:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
Why does everyone want LBP2? Just for new levels?? Because LBP isn't even 100% yet. But that sharable items thing sounds interesting. I would use the platform to create a bunch of characters or something. | 2009-07-09 05:32:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
"It's like ultimate showing off, basically." I love that part! After reading this article, I'd say... interesting. | 2009-07-23 07:11:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
