Ok you just need a little polish. I am absolutely in love with that fire one... amazing!!! You show amazing skill. I think your biggest weakness is a lack of a medium layer. And maybe some depth to your text. But a couple layers in the middle can always HELP the text actually. Like find a really cool graphic on a google image search, then contrast it to black and white, then like texture it or blur it a bit, then make it 90% or so transparent and place it between the background and the render to add more interesting and fluid depth to the sigs. Also borders are an art form in their own right. I used to just do 1-3 pixel black borders, but then started hiliting a couple pixels of border and using effects and adjust image brighter or darker to make cool borders. As for the depth of text, either pick the text object then make mask from object, then apply some sort of 3D effect like bevel or stamp or whatever it's called on your program - then add a texture over that. OR you can simply use some cool brushes in stark contrasting colors behind the text, and paint it in the intermediate layer I told you to add earlier. The raw talent in the last sig shows me you can make MUCH better sigs than I can - just need the mileage. Also transparency with PNGs and pop out sigs always helps, but that's another couple paragraphs - I'll revisit for that one later. | 2009-07-07 04:03:00 Author: LuckyShot Posts: 713 |

Wow, thanks a lot LS, that's great, a lot of useful stuff in there =] Might go mess around with some more stuff now, seeing as it;s already 4:07, so not point going to bed now =] | 2009-07-07 04:07:00 Author: Unknown User |
And the one i just made, though i am not happy with the text... http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r449/ir0nmaid3nfan/Firegirlsig1.jpg I made that one by taking an image of the girl and a stock photo of some fire, and then using the warp, liquify and paint tools to make it look like the hair was fire... Not too sure how well it worked? lol [/SPOILER] Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated =] Yeah I saw that on google under an advanced photoshop/ wordpress lesson - it's really cool!! the original lesson is here... (http://febbie12babyboo.wordpress.com/) about 3/4 of the way down. Love your work. Rhy | 2009-07-07 23:28:00 Author: Rhyfelwr Posts: 606 |
Yeah I saw that on google under an advanced photoshop/ wordpress lesson - it's really cool!! the original lesson is here... (http://febbie12babyboo.wordpress.com/) about 3/4 of the way down. Love your work. Rhy Yeah, initially i wasn't gonna put that one up because it was done straight from a tutorial, including the stock images, but it turned out quite well so i did. But now i am experimenting with different things within that kinda style =] Or i was, but i can't get on planetrenders etc. at the moment :'( Thanks =] | 2009-07-08 01:11:00 Author: Unknown User |
Just made a new fallout one and i ahve re-done the one with the girl with fiery hair + made an avatar for it =] Check first post to see 'em | 2009-07-08 19:03:00 Author: Unknown User |
Nice work making the text have some depth on the fire one - although it's missing that on the fallout one. Honestly, going against my own advice because it was just so cool, I like the text on the first fire girl one better, since it looks like it's part of her hair. But the border helps for sure, and the text looks great in both. | 2009-07-08 19:21:00 Author: LuckyShot Posts: 713 |
The fire one's are really cool! I personally like the first one you did, the text looks more fire-like. Nice work! | 2009-07-08 19:28:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
Thanks, i might go back and re-do the text like i did in the first one, but make it a bit thinner...i'll see what happens =] Thanks guys Edit : Do you guys reckon this is better than the first? Personally i think the text is a bit better =] http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r449/ir0nmaid3nfan/Firegirlsig3.jpg | 2009-07-08 19:36:00 Author: Unknown User |
Yeah I like that one, now draw some flames of her hair turning into the text. Just paint in that flame color towards the text and make it look like the hair extends RIGHT into the text. And then after that, MAKE another one!!! You've killed yourself over the flame head girl one. great job on it, now move on! Lol. I'm sure I'll be back here in the future. | 2009-07-08 22:04:00 Author: LuckyShot Posts: 713 |
Lol thanks LS. Just wanted to get it right now i need to think of another idea to do =] edit: new sig added to first post, though it's more of a test of whether it would actually be a pop out sig, and also testing the text... but yeah =] | 2009-07-11 02:46:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hey you should post your work here from the sig exchange and I'll link your name here. | 2009-07-13 00:29:00 Author: LuckyShot Posts: 713 |

More new stuff to add, though this time done in artrage with the wacom tablet.... These were my first attempt a digital drawing/paining... I'm not too sure if i am happy with them or not lol.... My first one was a BMW Sauber (can't find the ref. image i used though) http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r449/ir0nmaid3nfan/BMWsauber.jpg That one took maybe 45 minutes, and i don't think it looks quite right? + i hardly spent any of the time on the painting bit anyways lol >_< My next one was Hamilton's '09 mclaren, which is still an outline for the moment... http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r449/ir0nmaid3nfan/Hamilton.jpg http://www.f1-site.com/wallpapers/2009/f1/australia/practice/australia-melbourne-practice-f1-wallpaper-2009-13.jpg%5Dhttp://www.f1-site.com/wallpapers/2009/f1/...per-2009-13.jpg My most recent (took maybe an hour this morning at about 2 am? lol i like this one methinks.... This is Rosberg's williams.... http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r449/ir0nmaid3nfan/Williams.jpg thoughts, opinions and how i can improve them are, as always, appreciated. I like the last burgundy coloured one you did - again - my kind of thing. Couple of comments - no criticisms... The main dark angel just looks a little too crisp around the edges. The rest of it is dark and moody and nicely smudged, and it may (or may not) look better with a feathering around the edges. Also, you could try putting a burgundy... hmm... *scratches head* That's it - I know whats bugging me about it! - the grey highlights on the dark angel!! I bet it would look better with a burgundy overlay on the angel, which will bring the colouration more in line with the rest. I could be completely wrong and this is only my personal opinion. It wasn't a bad wierd, it was funny... but yeah... wierd funny Anyway, i'm trying the burgundy overlay now Edit: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r449/ir0nmaid3nfan/AscendancySig3.png Not sure... hmm... I blurred the edges of the wings, and put a more burngundy colour on the overlay... | 2009-07-17 22:10:00 Author: Unknown User |
New one (done in photoshop CS4, not the usual CS2, i'm on a trial for CS4 at the moment ) http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r449/ir0nmaid3nfan/Maiden.png Got a bit of cleaning up to do on it, but my main problem is the render itself... But that's the best quality of that one i can find ... | 2009-07-20 22:49:00 Author: Unknown User |
Dam, these are Epic. I've only used photoshop a couple of times (because i dont have the program ) but these are really cool, just thought I'll add my opinion | 2009-07-20 23:40:00 Author: springs86 Posts: 785 |

'fraid not. i think it would be fine with any image though, it's the same principle. | 2010-07-20 22:30:00 Author: Unknown User |
I'm too lazy to look up an image. Well... I guess I could do it, this once. | 2010-07-20 22:31:00 Author: resistance1 Posts: 812 |

And I didn't waste my time with the standard, I got the real thing. :3 Also, this one's really good, the only thing wrong with it is the lack of a single focal. | 2010-07-21 13:49:00 Author: resistance1 Posts: 812 |

I really like the composition in that one, but the render quality of the reptiley-type dragonny-thingy looks weird - almost like it was moving when you took the shot and you have motion blur? I know that's not possible lol. Glad to see you're still here Alex and you sooo deserve your own gallery! BTW - for anyone that's interested, the tut for the girl with flaming hair is here (http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/tutorials-effects/how-to-create-a-flaming-photo-manipulation/) Rhy | 2010-07-23 22:12:00 Author: Rhyfelwr Posts: 606 |

I had to of the dragon thing, which i laid on top of one another, but they moved and i didn't realize until it was too late D: | 2010-07-24 00:23:00 Author: Unknown User |
Time for a bump. I miss all the old artists who posted in here though :/ Can't be bothered cleaning out some of the posts in here that still contain crap sigs, too much effort. Ah well. Wow, these are really impressive. The text layers and special effects look as if they're actually in the photo, instead of just layered over top of the actual picture. I like your Artwork style, they're really nice. Especially the Fire effect you did on the hair. Nice work | 2011-08-21 01:14:00 Author: Unknown User |
