HaHa , very funny.

Please Please be more than just a costume and/or stickers though. I'm not even going to tempt fate by saying maybe it's a level pack this time. Oops I just did !!

LOL - funny. I'm still holding out for a proton pack Just think we could have four players try to cross the streams and have a "total protonic reversal".... wonder what that would look like in an LBP level?2009-07-06 17:07:00

Lol Morgana. I don't know what a 'total protonic reversal' is but I don't think I want one because it sounds painful. Is it a medical condition ?2009-07-06 17:08:00

It's a quote from the movie.

Dr. Egon Spengler: There's something very important I forgot to tell you.
Dr. Peter Venkman: What?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Don't cross the streams.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Why?
Dr. Egon Spengler: It would be bad.
Dr. Peter Venkman: I'm fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean, "bad"?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
Dr Ray Stantz: Total protonic reversal.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Right. That's bad. Okay. All right. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.

Probably a lot cuter than in real life

I doubt this is all that is coming. I'd guess the logo, a ghostbuster jumpsuit (surely with pack), and 1-2 other costumes. Then stickers.

We wouldn't have 2 teasers just for 1 costume now would we? Would we?

Anyway that hoody / pixie top looks like it could be quite useful, assuming the circle is not attached to it.

It mirrors how the original film was advertised. Billboards started appearing with tteaser images and were added to as the weeks went on.

OMG in heaven, but I do love that movie. Nice script excerpt Morgana... off the top of your head? LOL ("The FLOWERS are still standing!")

Aw... as long as we're at it:

Gozer: The Choice is made!
Dr. Peter Venkman: Whoa! Ho! Ho! Whoa-oa!
Gozer: The Traveller has come!
Dr. Peter Venkman: Nobody choosed anything!
[turns to Egon]
Dr. Peter Venkman: Did you choose anything?
Dr. Egon Spengler: No.
Dr. Peter Venkman: [to Winston] Did YOU?
Winston Zeddemore: My mind is totally blank.
Dr. Peter Venkman: *I* didn't choose anything...
[long pause, Peter, Egon and Winston all look at Ray]
Dr Ray Stantz: I couldn't help it. It just popped in there.
Dr. Peter Venkman: [angrily] What? *What* "just popped in there?"
Dr Ray Stantz: I... I... I tried to think...
Dr. Egon Spengler: LOOK!
[they all look over one side of the roof]
Dr Ray Stantz: No! It CAN'T be!
Dr. Peter Venkman: What is it?
Dr Ray Stantz: It CAN'T be!
Dr. Peter Venkman: What did you DO, Ray?
Winston Zeddemore: Oh, ****!
[they all see a giant cubic white head topped with a sailor hat, Peter looks at Ray]
Dr Ray Stantz: [somberly] It's the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Classic!

I can't see this being a medium pack; since most of the things such a pack would have apported have already been released in the monster pack.
I honestly think that this will just be some costumes and stickers, and maybe, something more, like a new music theme. Isn't the ghostbusters tune enough famous for that? I'd really love to have it as a soundtrack while gadding around LBP!

It'll be great running around as a ghostbuster... but I'd rather be Stay Puft, Slimer, Gozer, and Louis Tully....

Actually, they should just release a Rick Moranis pack. Louis, Dark Helmet, and Bob Mckenzie... I'd trade my cat and three toes on my left foot for a Bob Mckenzie costume, eh?

Why would they have to give out four Ghostbuster outfits. Just have one with stickers for he name badges. We already have glasses for Egon, and change up the hair for Vinkman or Stanz or Zedmore.

I can't imagine that they would be different enough to justify basically 4 of the same costume. It's got to be more than that.

I'm still hoping for Stay Pufft, Slimer, maybe even The Gate Keeper or Keymaster "dogs".... although if they pull out a Gozer outfit - that could be really interesting. (probably not though)

You guys are aware that they are planning onmaking a ghostbusters 3, with Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd etc.? You knew this right?

Exactly. Also, we've had costume packs with 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 costumes in, so there's no set number and presumably no upper limit.

The staypuft guy would be so awesome and so iconic from the films that they would be mad to leave him out.

I also wondered... We have costumes that add body parts (tails, hooves, ears hair) to the actual skin of the sackboy. Might a slimer costume actually have no legs and hover??? It's unlikely, but it would be awesome.

Oh...But I was so looking forward to some new glasses! This makes me doubt everything. Zuul and Vinz Klortho costumes would be incredible! It wouldn't be the first time they changed a quadreped into a biped for a costume (colossus II).

To Rtm, that's a wonderful idea! Reminds me of what happens when you give a bat to a Chao in Sonic...

I also want to remind you that the Metal Gear Solid pack came with the soldier costume, so I could see the Ghost costume coming with the possible level pack. Not to Mention what Morgana said as each uniform is exactly the same, minus the nametag, I could see them pull the same as what they did with the Judge Dredd pack, which came with one uniform and two hairstyles for both characters.2009-07-07 20:38:00

I dont think its just costumes and stickers and deco.

They hype it with TWO teasers and now the patch is 80mb in size. They prolly have something more, if not levels atleast some materials and objects i assume.

Or they're simply releasing some other things and that's why it was 80Mb.
Also accorsing to some LBP servers seem to be working a bit better from the Update, so that mihght be another why to the 80Mb.

Back on topic...
I wonder when they're finally releasing this?
Or at least some more infor about it!

Looking at the Japanese ad it seems like it will cost around $6-7 for all 7 costumes, or about $2 for each labeled group (stay puft, ghost, logo, and Ghostbusters).

I think streamguns are just props

Ah well, so I guess it's just costumes again. But look at the bright side! Online Create's in beta, a new Web Portal is in the works, and lots of other stuff!

Looks legit to me.

"ok... seems kinda dodgy for a mm made ad. it looks ugly and..."

Nope most Japanese advertising really is just that ugly and garish. I've seen adverts for gravestones with much brighter colours and flashy price tags.

The Japanese says it contains stickers and costumes. The writing in red says.

"Popular American comedy Ghost Busters sticker and costume theme pack. 4 costume types including Slimer, GHost Busters, Marshmallow man and no Ghosts."

The rest of the text in white is just info on downloading from PSN then the bit in the top right says the release date is 16/7.

I think it's reasonably safe to say those are all legit. After all, it got the four ghostbusters right.

Also, you guys have to realize that every DLC they announce can't be some amazing medium or large pack every few weeks! They release new costumes every week to two weeks, but they're still releasing the big updates.

First couple months after release they were working hard on bugs. Then the end of December saw the MGS Pack. They continued working on bug fixes after that, then gave us the free creator pack in April. The next month they gave us the Monster Pack. Then they started the Online Create Beta.
That's a good bunch of stuff in not too huge a timeframe.

I think MM is doing a great job, and I'm sure there's plenty of others who think the same. Of course, they could be doing some things better, but it's always easy to find faults in things.

Also, part of creating a community is reciprocating. They do that in the hat and wig fridays and other cute posts like that. They asked us to send in our pics of us wearing wigs! Did any of you do that? I think a lot of people have to learn here that LBP is a community game, and MM is a small company with a pretty small group of people. When you create a great game like LBP you take pride in it's reapings and its success. They clearly want to share that feeling with us if they can.
Be happy with what you get and maybe try giving MM some more motivation by reciprocating to their efforts to make us happy.

Enjoy LBP with what you have available, don't grumble about what you're missing. Like Grant said, there's still lots of juice left in what is already there. You just have to use it.

All that, without a monthly sub! I think they're doing great!

Would have preferred new materials over costumes, but the fact that we get anything is a bonus really.

I'll still be buying this I expect..... but Mm has to get something big out soon.

Why? If people are willing to spend the price of the MGS pack on something like costumes and stickers then why even bother working on another big pack when they can make the same amount of money off of something that doesn't require nearly as much time and effort?

lol.

Okay, okay. I'm starting to get a little buggered here.

How's this for a way to understand, for anyone who's still living with their parents:
Talk to your mom or dad and ask them why, instead of working every day of the week, they don't just work for the last week in every month?
Seems like an obvious answer, no? They need money. You need money. You need to live.

Let's say you're mom is a real estate agent. Why doesn't she cut her cost in half so that everyone benefits more?
Well, because then she doesn't make a living and you're life style will have to change.

You don't boycott DLC because it's not what YOU want, just like you wouldn't boycott drinking juice just because you're parents don't want to spend the money on drinking a milkshake every day.
Now, me - I haven't even bought any of the DLC other than the monster pack! But that has nothing do to with not wanting to support them. You don't tell someone NOT to buy a costume if they want to buy it, because they shouldn't let them make money off it.

Think about that for a moment. Do you want MediaMolecule to stop supporting the game? Do you want MediaMolecule to just stop doing anything for LBP and get on with LBP 2 like any big company would do, seeing as it usually provides the best profit? Do you want MediaMolecule to go out of business?

Think about what you're saying for a moment and backtrack. Think about why you enjoy playing LittleBigPlanet. Take a moment and enjoy the game like it's meant to be enjoyed.
I know I love LittleBigPlanet no matter what DLC they do or don't add, because it makes me happy. I enjoy playing the game, interacting with other people, seeing the success of the great community creators, and appreciating the art.

Reconsider what it means to be a part of a game development company. I bet it's great fun being a part of MM, and a great life. I bet they all enjoy their work at least a bit. I bet it's also not an easy life. I bet that it would be hard for them to look at this thread and still want to make stuff for the community. I bet it would make them sad to see that it seems like their fans don't like them. Why support a community that doesn't like the person supporting them? Why provide when theirs nothing returned?

I know I like MediaMolecule. I know a bunch of the people here do. Maybe the majority. I hope they know that, and I hope that everyone else understands that it's easier to see the bad things then it is to see the good things.

Step back and enjoy LittleBigPlanet how it is right now in its glory.

Mate, I don't think it's worth trying to explain this. You give some people a bit of something good and they will just want more. No real thought of where it comes from, just desire.

I'm just gonna quote what I said yesterday on this, it's easier than making the point again.

I still think it's funny that it wasn't that long ago that console DLC was unheard of. No one expected it and everyone was happy. Even bugs in games never got any kind of fix. Ever.

Here we have a game where new quality content is available for free on a daily basis (community content but still bloody good stuff), little bits and pieces become available every couple of weeks or so. Bug fixes and expansions get released occasionally for free. There is always new stuff to do (I don't believe anyone has fully explored all the opportunities of create mode), server space for your content and for multiplayer is provided at no cost... I could go on.

We are totally spoiled with this game, when you actually stop to think about it.

Plus I recon I've paid about 10p per hour of fun I've had on this game. To me that's a bargain

Yeah, the game was a huge bargain! $60 for what's lasted me from launch to now. Most games I get tired of in just a couple months, and I pay the same for those.

I also enjoy almost all the DLC we've gotten, including the costumes. I was just hoping for a little more on this one since it's Ghostbusters, my favorite movie.

I'm a bit disappointed that it won't be a level pack, but not because I want the levels. I just want more materials and objects! If these costume and sticker packs included a few sounds and objects I'd be all over them.2009-07-11 06:09:00

I don't think I or anyone else that's disappointed with costumes and stickers are lacking any appreciation in the value of LBP. On the contrary, we understand it quite well and we understand the potential of it to be an even better game, so naturally it's disappointing to see missed opportunities like this. We're asking for content that will help us make better levels, content that we're giving back to the community and content that will increase the interest and longevity of the game for everyone, and we are willing to pay to do this. That's hardly unreasonable. 2009-07-11 15:13:00

Well of course it has potential to be a better game, but you can't call these "missed opportunities".
Mm ARE working on making this a better game, but everyone still complains whenever they release something that doesn't come with extra levels.

Sometimes you act like they can just pump out new tools and levels that work perfectly on a daily basis. But in reality they need tons of bug testing, they have to pass that QA thing, and it has to be released strategically for various reasons.

Just be grateful that they're bothering making new content to begin with, they could of decided not to give us anything!

Really Dex? I see it differently. I love LBP too. BUT,

We got some great creators in this community who pump out levels on a pretty regular basis... When you compare that to what Mm has produced... [the creator pack (which was unplayable), the monster pack (which had limited playability)] They (Mm) have produced nothing outside of MGS//Which was unbelievable!!! and that's why people want more... They even have the nerve to create lvls for advertising campaigns... but not the game itself.

Now I am not naive, nor am I a child living in someones' basement. (However, ironically i do play LBP in the basement--but it's my own), and I personally deem this a wasted oppurtunity for Mm. It's just an opinion, for all I know Sony/Columbia wouldn't allow a Ghostbuster Level to be created--I am sure there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes... but with all that said, It is still a missed oppurtunity...

And If I make a GB level and it gets Modded for copyright... then I'd really flip out... I mean who knows with SONY?

Finally, Mm should have never introduced the sticker pak. What's the point really? How hard would it have been for Mm to design a level for Jon Burgerman. Create a very stupidly entertaining storyline... let him put his kooky stamp on it... and then place all the stickers in there! Why?

I really wouldn't care all that much... however, now the Mm office shenanigans have been invited in to parade before my face...

Our front page here at the LBPCentral disgusts me anymore as I am forced to read, "Alex wears Hat, Alex wears suit, Wig Friday! Pub-this... Pub-that... Cat/dog of the day, whoops! tweet-tweet-sneak-peak I didn't mean to say that... (image import)

If anyone is acting like a group of kids hanging out in their parents' basement It's Mm... and yes I am worried they are not taking advantage of every opportunity they get. I don't won't LBP to fail, and I love them for building the thing, but the facts remains': PCS bubbles are useless, there is lag, long loads, tons of lost information, stickers/stickers/stickers, pub crawls and dress-up Fridays, unprofessionalism abounds.

Yes, I know about the Beta but when your excluded from something, an nobodys' talking, it doesn't really exist. And I am cynical that a LBPortal is going to enhance my gaming experience.

So yeah, I'm voicing some displeasure with Mm, and I think they are being a little to self-congratulatory. I would love to see some results to be quite honest... because in the real world that is unfortunately how we are all ultimately judged.

(...and yes it does seem like a great place to work!)

You're trying to justify your argument by saying that you don't want LBP to fail, but really you're just being greedy.

LBP IS successful, Mm have the opportunity to sit back and relax for a while but they aren't.
Instead they're busy working on things like the beta and upcoming packs with awesome new materials!
Those posts about the Mm team wearing wigs and whatever else, that's just them having a social life. Incase you forgot they're human too, they don't spend every second of their day working.

No offense but saying that they're missing opportunities is just you being ignorant because they aren't giving you exactly what you want.
Sure they could of made a level to go with the Jon Burgerman pack, but if that level didn't turn out to be perfect then you'd be back on this forum complaining about how unprofessional it was.

Sorry if i'm becoming a little too defensive about this but it's really starting to annoy me how everyone is suddenly ignoring everything that Mm are doing for us and complaining that they aren't giving us exactly what we want.

you're not being defensive, the word your searching for... is rude. While we obviously have differing view points I still go out of my way to try and see the point you are making even though I may disagree... I also didn't think I dismissed your views as being childish, ignorant, or greedy... as mine were. I apologize if I did Dex, as stated, I just see it differently.

(I too have a healthy and happy social life which, I might add, has nothing at all to do with my place of work, or whether or not I am cyclon or human... you toaster-hater... so there!... just one point, I'll point-out, to show your wrong-headedness.

I don't think you tried to see both sides of the argument at all, you basically just said that Mm are lazy and childish :/2009-07-11 19:39:00

Whilst I agree with that, it's not something you can blame MM for. They whack out kooky "news" because they think it is fun. This site auto-feeds off that news... Not MM's fault that it's here, really. I just skip past the front page...

there is lag, long loads, tons of lost information, stickers/stickers/stickers, pub crawls and dress-up Fridays, unprofessionalism abounds. The lag etc is stuff they have claimed they are working on. I believe them. Stickers bolster their income, it's important. Remember how create pack 1 was free. We pay for luxuries so that the important stuff gets distributed for free. Also, QA is a massive effort for multi-purpose tools*. And as for unprofessionalism, I can't agree. MM has a corporate image to maintain. One that rides on them being a fun, happy, kooky, crazy bunch that create games for funzies and love interacting with the community on a very human basis.

Yes, I know about the Beta but when your excluded from something, an nobodys' talking, it doesn't really exist. And I am cynical that a LBPortal is going to enhance my gaming experience. I don't care for either of those things, and I doubt I'll use them much when they are released, but they are significant enhancements that we know are being developed. Just because we don't care for them doesn't mean they aren't significant.

*case in point: last Thursday afternoon I wrote a software module for a general purpose tool. It wasn't very complex and only took about 2 hours to code up. I spent all day Friday coding a test bench for it. And testing isn't even complete on that yet, will be a good couple of weeks before it is proven. QA is a ***** to software developers, if you are doing it right

I generally try to be a thoughtful poster. As for my assesment that Mm can act unproffesional, while I understand business models and practices change with the times and the introduction of new technologies... And also realize Mm is putting a 'public' carefree face to their private company. And also realize they are having to learn while on the go here... There have been several instances where Mm has leaked information that wasn't official or even verified through Sony. Also the means of this communication (to me) is suspect. In my mind, mis-information, be it official or not is... unprofessional.

Finally, I am not the only poster on this forum who has expressed opinions like these; I have read many posts echoing these same sentiments in other threads--yet I feel the need to defend myself from accusations of being, petty and ignorant, for having a well-thought personal opinion?
