How To Import An Image Into LBP?
Archive: 8 posts
Hello, and if anyone could help me here, it would be greatly appreciated. I know how to export an image to my HDD from in-game, but how can I import an image...my Avitar for example...from my HDD into LBP? Is this even possible? Thanks. Rick | 2009-07-04 17:25:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
Apparently MM were going to make it possible...but I don't think they have yet. So no, I don't think you can do it...sorry... | 2009-07-04 17:34:00 Author: adlingtont Posts: 321 |
At the moment the only means we have for importing images are either a PS Eye or EyeToy. This is extremely annoying because you have to hold the camera and the thing you're taking a picture of in the right place or then the lighting is all messed up. Plus when you finally take the picture it comes out blurry. I really hope we get an import image option, they've said before that they wouldn't do it for copyright reasons or something like that but I think this is just a way to get people to buy more PS Eyes. | 2009-07-04 17:38:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
Rick, what was said above is true, it would be wonderful to have image import, and MM have been quoted as saying it will be on the way, but who knows when? but I think this is just a way to get people to buy more PS Eyes. Seeing as the PS3 has reasonable webcam support, why limit it to just the PS Eye, unless for financial reasons? I think that is definately part of the motivation to keep things as they are. And copyright would be an issue, although we have the capacity to easilly breach copyright anyway, should we want to - the number of ripped off levels for example. | 2009-07-04 17:46:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
I too tried to get over this issue, perhaps finding a way of saving into a hidden folder in game data perhaps... but no luck.. Now if you had Linux installed, you might have a better chance! Hope you & your Lady_L are OK. Rhy | 2009-07-04 17:56:00 Author: Rhyfelwr Posts: 606 |
Thank you everyone who has responded. I feared this would be the case, and I was hoping for a solution that did not rely on the EyeToy. I have one, but I agree the image quality is %$%$& poor at best...what a waste of money that was...should have bought a mic instead. Anyhoo, I'll fumble around and see what I can come with...possibly use the EyeToy image as a template only, and create it in-game. Thanks again. The PSEye actually works pretty decently if you're taking a BIG image (like a whole sheet of paper) and shinking it small. My Tiger Woods face is perfect Also, I've been able to take a picture with the PS eye and then trace to recreate the image using shaped materials. Works great, but is pretty time consuming. | 2009-07-04 19:20:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Thx CCubbage. I could try enlarging my Avitar, snap the photo, and hope that the pixellation is not too prominent when I shrink it down. If it is, I'll use it strictly as a template, which was my alternative choice. Rick | 2009-07-04 19:31:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
