What's thrown the city into chaos? "Sack" must battle his way through town to find out what is behind the attacks.

My first published level. Would love some feedback.

Sack, is a treehouse loving Sackboy (that's you, when you play the level) that midnights as the city's secret avenger and mystery solver.

I went for a cinematic feel and detail hopefully not turning off the folks who love the platform aspects of the game.

Will F4F for sure. But warn you my day job and upcoming holiday will monopolize my time for the next week.

I really loved the amount of detail you put into the begining of the level, and the use of the cameras made it feel sorta cinematic.
It was pretty nice 4* Hearted

I had fun playing this one just now
Very detailed sections with a lovely storyline.

Pros:
+ The use of camera angles is very good
+ The treehouse at the beginning
+ The underlying commentary from our hero. Nice humour to it
+ The backgrounds to the city
+ Walking postboxes?!
+ Crazy birds!

Cons:
- Some enemies were a bit too easy. You could dodge their attacks and then just go behind them.

Overal though a very good level. :star::star::star::star:

I agree with the above posters. The detail throughout is fantastic, and the bosses are really neat looking, but they don't function exactly as they should. The treehouse and the underground bunker were really neat, but the whole 'getting back to the surface' thing was wonky. I was able to get through the hole with my jetpack still on. Did you just put the jetpack in there so that you can get on the platform as it's going up? If so, there are simpler ways to accomplish this without a jetpack (read: OR switches) - (or you could even hook up a directional wench grab switch combo to pull the pull-switch back into it's original place). It got 4 stars because it looked good.2009-07-03 20:07:00

The level was very detailed at the beginning, which is a big plus, though I wasn't sure about what the animal noses were there for, are they supposed to be mushrooms? If so, you were really thinking outside the box, but to me they just look strange. For the piston to get into the treehouse, I think it would be more better if it wasn't stiff or if it was a winch. It just didn't seem right going straight up into the treehouse. I did like the multiple levels of the treehouse, it looked very good and I didn't have any issues with the door mechanic, which is a problem I see occasionally. I didn't really like how the level went onto the ground after that. Some levels are fine on the ground, but this one would have benefited greatly from having a road. I think the cars could be more detailed. If you check around, you might be able to find someone giving away cars in LittleBigPlanet or at least you might be able to win them in a level or whatnot. To me, the people looked incredibly awkward. I think you would just be better off making them one thick layer and putting them on "legs", the pegs in the creator section of the tools bag in the pop-it. That's just my opinion on that though. The large blue mailboxes were well-animated, but one or two well-placed shots would knock them over. Also, I would make the paintswitches invisible, it just looks cleaner to take them out of the picture. As someone already mentioned, you can step out of the way of most of the hazards as well, which makes the level incredibly easy. The buildings were very detailed, which was very nice. I laughed when I saw "Giggle", that was a nice touch. The abduction part was cool, but it didn't always pick you up, it was basically hit or miss. Overall I thought it was a pretty fun and interesting level. I don't really see how strange pigeon food results in killer mailboxes, but it was funny nonetheless. I gave it :star::star::star:, I thought it was good but it could still benefit from some tweaking and polish.

For F4F, please check out my LittleBigMemory level: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=13198

Oh my, thanks so much for the great feedback everyone. Unfortunately I'm running out the door now for the holiday weekend, but I'll catch up with you all and do my f4f part when I get back on Monday. This is so cool.2009-07-03 23:07:00

Oh this was a fun play and cool details.

I loved the television and other small little details you did.

Here are some cons though.

-enemies were too simple, even sometimes they fell over because I was hitting them.

-the cars facing forward right after you leave the tree house area seemed kind of blah.

-the dog noses on the tree added more of a 3D affect to it but didn't really make too much sense.

-like the fact you used custom stickers of real houses and people but they were so pixelated and light i couldn't tell what some were.

-at the end where you fight the robots, the wood on the floor isn't glued down so I was falling under it and the robots were getting stuck and it became confusing.

-the platforming and game play was flat and not too challenging

pros

-great detail story and dialog

-original and good ending to transition with

-enemies were original

Overall I gave it :star::star::star: but it has a lot of potential to be a great really cool series, can't wait for the next one, let me know when it comes out

also for F4F you can try out my Underground series when you get a chance

(Note: I put this review into your profile, because I initially didn't get a result when I looked for this Showcase thread. The interwebs are now merciful, and I see it's been here a while.)

Thoughts on Going Postal:

CONS

*The elevator in the roots of the secret base was weird; I couldn't get it to work properly. I made it out of the roots with the jetpack, which I figured out I wasn't supposed to do. I recommend using winches instead of pistons: hang them up in the place where the roots block the view. Then, once you've got the winch lengths right, put a directional sensor switch on the lift (so it goes down when you're absent, up when you're there, Require All = YES). pick up the lift and bring it above ground, then place a bit of dissolve UNDER it, then put the lift on top of it and let go. Make the pull switch dissolve the dissolve, and voila! Lift only drops in when you invite it.

*Don't know what the right answer was with getting hit by the mail truck. I got up on the windshield, couldn't jump over. Eventually, it threw me into the foreground, and passed me by. If I was supposed to run over top...that didn't work so much.

PROS

*Excellent visuals. The cityscapes were very well done, and I like that you spent a little extra time on the buildings Sackboy ended up ON...gave me more to look at.
*Treehouse Secret Base was an absolute riot. I had no idea what was going on, and in a fun way.
*Crazy Microsoft Clip-art people running in terror was the real clincher: we're not in Kansas anymore.
*Excellent blend of levers and platforming. I'm a sucker for machinery in levels...that's what makes LBP whip Mario's posterior.
*The ending sealed in the surrealism, for me. This level hasn't been crazy enough yet; let's turn 90 degrees...here!

OVERALL

IMHO, this level is a must-play, because it's bizarre and unexpected fun. It also evokes the "LBP" aesthetic - weird bric-a-brac meets tongue-in-cheek - while showing your own mildly twisted voice.

I wouldn't do anything special to this level; I'd go on and make the next one. If you can get the publishing traffic on level 2, people will come back to this to see what's going on.
