Archive: 5 posts

hey, I havent upload any videos of my lvls yet sorry....... but I'm working on pretty cool lvl, Im almost done with it. its only for 2 to 4 players tho. theres 2 castles you or ur team mate have to blow through the walls to get to the score board to win. sounds easy? well making it is frustrating....... heres what Im having trouble with, the bombs and points and the paintanoter will work just fine in the begging of the game but when some1 have about 2 or 1 walls left to blow up, the bombs, pionts and the paintanoters will stop working.... so there you go, your in the lvl waiting and waiting for a bomb or point to fall but nothing will happend.... I had all the things on unlimited. do u think i have to many bombs and paintanoter? there only 2 paintanoters and timed explosives and bombs and points.. i dont know what else to do....2009-07-02 23:49:00

I don't think there's anything wrong with the Paintnators
I'm pretty sure the level just gets overeheated.
In case you didn't know, a level can get overheated during gameplay, this can be caused of course by emitting various things at onece.
OR explosions as they leave the "dirt stickers" , for each explosion there's one or more of those stickers appearing in your level.
The paintnator's paint marks are also stickers, so well, using many of either can be the cause of your level overheating ingame...

Solution?
Sorry, unless the 2 players decide to stop and remove all of the stickers (which i doubt it'll happen) i think your level is not gonna work.
Altho you fdo say its on the last wall, so you could maybe remove 1-3 walls and see what happens.

That or remove stuff from your level to reduce the termometer.

Another approach you could use is to have every other wall made of dissolve material (to keep the dissolve material looking the same as the solid wall, make a photo sticker of the solid wall and sticker the dissolve with it). Place a Magnetic Key (MK) on the solid wall, and a Magnetic Key Switch (MKS) on the dissolve wall next to it. Attach the wire from the MKS to the dissolve material. Set the MKS to inverted. Once the section of the solid wall with the MK is blown up, the dissolve wall will also vanish. This will reduce the number of explosion and paintinator stickers by approximately half, which would prevent the level from overheating.

A point to consider: to ensure you don't encounter a timing issue where the MKS gets blown up before the material dissolves, you can place the MKS higher up on the dissolve material, or just put it on a piece of dark matter that is out of the way of the bombs altogether and hidden. Set the proximity of the MKS so it encompasses the MK, and you're good to go.

have you checked to make sure you're not blowing up the emitter (or more accurately, the material it's on)?

also, if you are using emitters, have you checked that no debris is blocking them? if you have bits of castle everywhere it wouldn't be hard for a piece to land right where your bombs should appear.

chances are it is your thermometer, since I've never heard of a paint gun suddenly stop working when it's set to infinite. when there are too many stickers, old ones disappear as new ones are placed.

worth checking your emitters though, just in case.
