Worrying hard disk activity

Archive: 8 posts

Well we all know about LBP's little idiosynchrosy when it comes to not saving to harddisk until you come out to your pod. Well today I've noticed that long after the little sackboy stops running on the screen, the HDD led is still flashing. I'm talking about 10 minutes here.

Anyone else ever seen this? Any ideas? It worries me and I'm a little scared to do any creating ATM.

That actually happened when I was creating my level. I quit on the Mymoon screen and when I turn it on an hour later and POOF! it's gone back to its last save. 2009-07-02 23:51:00

Did you definately wait until the sackboy stopped running on screen?

It concerns me because the hardware I work with has the LED wired directly to the SATA controller, so if it's flashing and the sackboy's not running then something fishy is afoot (though we don't have running sackboys on screen at work )

Hi rtm223. I'll purposefully keep my eyes open for this, as it would be suspect.

Do you have music playing at the time? It could be just accessing your music?2009-07-08 09:29:00

I've seen this happen but there's also some normal useable, disk access the PS3 is doing for whatever reason. This happens in many/most games actually.

But once I remember I noticed LBP accessing the disk mad crazy. It's like it was stuck on a loop too because the little sackboy was constantly appearing, disappearing, appearing, etc. I was only there waiting in the pod. I actually got scared and got the game to do something else (did load a level and came out). After that it was ok.

The game definetely is having wierd behaviors. I really wonder everyday how this product got approved/certified for production. BJs totally were involved + green hats.

wex: not playing music, not downloading anything (to my knowledge), nothing but my sack sitting in a pod and me sitting on my sofa

Ranger, it was just how long it was going for. I'm not sure if the sackperson running would have been more or less worrying. It could have been some legit activity, but 10 minutes of near constant disk access is a lot of data.

PS, is a "green hat" some euphemism I'm not familiar with? I can't get onto urban dictionary at work - apparently it's not suitable

Yeah well, i've been checking the light too, i'm not just checking the little sackboy icon...

And a green hat is a hat made of money...
