I think this competition is great! Some people spend a ton of time creating custom costumes. I'm also thankful that it rewards originality over some fan art remake (ex. Batman/Joker). Customising your character is a major part of LBP, and this is a good alternative to those who missed out on the "create a costume" comp. :hero:

I don't think that people should be crowned with a costume contest. I love making costumes, but a crown is too much. It quite spoils the work of people like GruntosUK... Sorry for the rant.

By all means, you have the right to say that. Hard working people like Gruntos deserve the crown they put all of that effort into. But then again, some people achieve very awkward and unique things with just stickers and costume pieces. So this time around, it's their time to show what they really got in store for us. Besides, this contest sounds so simple that perhaps thousands of entries will flood in, resulting in another month of decision-making. So by then, we'd all probably achieved our crowns through our quality levels. Heh, and I thought a "golf course" competition was ridiculous.

I wouldn't feel very deserving if I won a crown for something like this but I've entered anyway. I just really want a crown and am not sure how else I can get it. I suck at creating a theme I don't feel like creating and I don't think my levels are worthy enough to get noticed by Mm like Gruntos. I don't really want the crown so much for the prestige, I just love it as a costume piece. Wouldn't it be fitting if you won a nice costume piece for a nice costume? I mean, its better than people getting crowns for decorating their neighborhoods at least .

This is a costume and pod decoration contest. Judged upon how effective the themes are put together and such. It is pretty easy, so there is no reason why people shouldn't enter. I am just trying to inspire some creativity in LBP in ways other than in levels.

I don't see anything wrong with getting a crown for this competition, although I think giving a "one-uv-a-kind" custom costume piece might have been better. The problem there is that Mm don't have the time to come up with something new for costume creators and contests like this alone. As stated, some of us spend a lot of time on our costumes (or pods) making our own stickers, or using decorations in unique ways that other people haven't thought of. Custom costumes are a big part of the game and Mm's constant release of costume DLC is proof of that, so I feel it's certainly a valid contest. Heck, just look at the forum.... costume threads are one of the most popular and consistent threads on here. Custom costumes are no less creative than our levels... it's just a different application of creative juices. To say that it takes away from the amazing work of Gruntosuk or any other fantastic creator on this forum (or elsewhere) is not exactly a fair statement. It doesn't take anything away from their well deserved crown or belittle that honour bestowed upon them... it just give credit to those who are good at this particular part of the game's creative aspect. Like I said, I'd rather they gave away something costume related that is unique for this type of contest... but recognition is still recognition whether it's for a level or an amazing costume/pod theme. At peak times you see the Community icon light up and say something like 101,256 players online. Now think about how many crowns have been given out to date. There is no worry about crown flooding just yet.

So the contest is closed now. Time is up, but I can't say I'm not overjoyed with the results. We had 300+ entries sent in (I am still tallying it all up ). Thanks for all the support everyone! Judging is now in session. We hope to have it all done in at least a week, so just be patient. All entries sent in from this point on will, sadly, not be judged. Thank you all of you who made this contest a success. Thank you to Mm, Sam, and Tom for the Blog feature, the crown authorization, and the amazing banner respectively. There is no worry about crown flooding just yet. I'm pretty sure that's a glitch. The average amount of people online at peak hours is actually between 8,000 - 10,000, more or less. Just saying, not disagreeing about crowns or anything..
