Tabs

I've added some tabs to the site (check under the top advertisement). This is a two-fold attack: one, our navbar was getting much too cluttered, so this allowed me to separate the main links from the secondary ones; two, this is part of our plan to simplify navigation when LittleBigPlanet for PSP releases. We don't want you guys to have to scroll down endlessly to find the content you want, so this allows us to add a link to the PSP section of the forums when they open to the public. Let me know what you think. Thanks! | 2009-06-29 02:25:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
They're great! I love them. Everything important is in there, if you really added anything else it wouldn't be the main ones. | 2009-06-29 02:29:00 Author: Kog Posts: 2358 |
Looks good and anything that keeps it clean is a great idea. Thanks! | 2009-06-29 02:39:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Nice work!! I like that much better! | 2009-06-29 02:43:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |

Let me know what you think. Thanks! Sweetness! You should edit the IMGs so that when you are in a certain place (such as the forum tab), it shows as a "part of it" instead of behind it" Like a Phonebook kind of way. So, if we are in Forums, the line under the Forum Tab would be gone, making it seem as if we are already at that tab... Catch my drift? ~Mikal | 2009-06-29 02:48:00 Author: Mikal Posts: 59 |
Is nobody using Google Chrome? The top is malformed now, with the bar that says Welcome, shows where you are on the website, and has the donate button being moved over so that it starts where "Quick Links" ends. | 2009-06-29 02:54:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
Yep, this is what it looks like for me on Google Chrome. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/LBP%20Central/Avatars/lbpc.jpg Firefox is fine, although I dunno about the new beta. | 2009-06-29 02:57:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |

Ok, that is what I'm seeing as well on Chrome. I hope this is sorted out fairly quickly, because even though it is a nice and functional upgrade, it is an eyesore to look at on my main browser. | 2009-06-29 02:58:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
The new tabs are cool, but for me, the site is left justified instead of centered in the browser now...not sure why, not a big deal, but it feels kinda weird... | 2009-06-29 03:02:00 Author: Theap Pleman Posts: 670 |
I like it, altho for some reason the site is to screens wide now. So i can scroll all the way to the right and have a screen of blank space. Anyone else having this problem? | 2009-06-29 03:08:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
The site is now aligned to left side. It's really annoying when you have a 16:9 type screen like me. Would it be possible to make it centralised again? . | 2009-06-29 03:09:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
For those of you having issues, please let me know a) the specific issue you're having and b) the browser you're using. | 2009-06-29 03:22:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
Issue: Pages are 2X wider than before, so now i have some usless space to the right and it is only on this site.Browser: PS3 browser | 2009-06-29 03:25:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
I've fixed it temporarily, though it doesn't look very good since it's raised up above the content. I'm working toward a solution, but this is the best I can do with the little time I've had to research the issue. EDIT: It may swap back and forth between working and not working - that's because I'm actively working on fixing it. Don't post saying "It was working and now it's not!" because I'm already aware of it. EDIT 2: Fixed! Let me know if you guys have any more problems. | 2009-06-29 03:36:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
A very nice modification to an already stellar site. Rick | 2009-06-29 04:12:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
Hey it works perfectly normal now! Awesome job with both the Tabs and the fix. | 2009-06-29 04:12:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
I'm using Firefox and everything is aligned to the left I actually didn't realise until i read it was doing this for someone else too xD | 2009-06-29 04:15:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |

*img* Ah, there was a bit of rogue CSS I missed. Thanks for that! Fixed. | 2009-06-29 04:23:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
yeah that's a lot better now | 2009-06-29 04:36:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
I've updated the tab images so that they look a bit cooler (added a slight bit of shadow for some depth). If you can't see it, either clear your browser cache or do a hard refresh (ctrl-F5) on any page with the tabs. | 2009-06-29 07:20:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
Nice! Looks a lot better now. I don't think I will use it much other than to click User CP but at least it moved blogs and log out out of my way. I used to press log out by mistake when I would try to press things so thanks for that. | 2009-06-29 07:25:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
Much eaiser. | 2009-06-29 07:57:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
As I said on MNRCentral, if the tab you were in was highlighted, it would look even better! | 2009-06-29 12:22:00 Author: Killian Posts: 2575 |
Ok great, it's very functional and aesthetically-superior to the previous version now that everything is worked out. It's a nice upgrade. | 2009-06-29 12:29:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
This is awesome! Much more user-friendly than the menu to the left. I remember when I signed up here I was confused about how to get to the forums. So this will be really helpful! (thanks a lot for reminding me about mnrcentral, Killian! XD) | 2009-06-29 14:05:00 Author: crazymario Posts: 657 |
I really like the tabs. Makes it easier to get around. | 2009-06-29 15:59:00 Author: Lady_Luck__777 Posts: 3458 |
Looks fine for me. Nice work again CC. | 2009-06-29 16:03:00 Author: lk9988 Posts: 1077 |
Hmm, very strange/different lol. But I can see myself easily getting used to them, and it's much nicer than having tons of links in a line. | 2009-06-29 18:40:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
I didn't see much use for the at first, but I'm using them now! Really nice addition as usually CC | 2009-06-29 19:33:00 Author: Coxy224 Posts: 2645 |
Wow, it's all neat and looks very nice, great work | 2009-06-29 20:34:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
As I said on MNRCentral, if the tab you were in was highlighted, it would look even better! I'm looking into a way to do that, but as far as I can tell, there's no easy solution. I'll keep looking, and if I find something workable, I'll integrate it in. | 2009-06-29 21:01:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
I'm looking into a way to do that, but as far as I can tell, there's no easy solution. I'll keep looking, and if I find something workable, I'll integrate it in. Really like this addition - very slick. For this bit.. <!-- tabs --> <div id="tabsJ"> <ul> <li><a href="http://www.lbpcentral.com"><span>Home</span></a></li> <li><a href="http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/"><span>Forums</span></a></li> <li><a href="http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/blog.php"><span>Blogs</span></a></li> <li ><a href="http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/usercp.php"><span>User CP</span></a></li> <li><a href="http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/login.php?do=logout&logouthash=1246310397-3000d986ff403cc32430f19397f59e1d0d7ab9d0"><span>Log Out</span></a></li> </ul> | 2009-06-29 22:31:00 Author: Rhyfelwr Posts: 606 |
Sorry - just thought, this might not work because all the URL's are dynamic.. Yeah, I ran into that solution before, but with the number of possible URLs, I couldn't possible cover them all. I'm looking for a way to determine part of the url - e.g. some sort of javascript or PHP that could look for "lbpcentral.com/forums" in the url. The problem, though, is the fact that there are other urls nested in "lbpcentral.com/forums" that are also tabs, so it wouldn't be very easy to nail down which is which. | 2009-06-29 23:07:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
Nice addition CC I was only thinking the other day that the nav bar was getting too cluttered | 2009-06-29 23:19:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |
I like them a lot. They seriously do help. Thanks man! | 2009-06-29 23:22:00 Author: blacknumbers Posts: 79 |
e.g. some sort of javascript or PHP that could look for "lbpcentral.com/forums" in the url. How about substr() to strip out the end... $shorturl = str($url, 0, X); //X being the required length of string Of course, you'd have to run a few if, else requests to determine which is the correct url before shortening it! Hmmm.. not ideal... How about just deleting everything after the question mark. That way you can use strpos() to find the character position of the "?" and then substr() to extract the first part before the question mark. Not sure how you can then get that variable to be recognised by the a:active attribute though... Rhy EDIT __________________ Think I might have cracked it... haven't gone into the fine details, but I think you can put conditional statements into the css itself.. This example looks for "forums" in the url. a: active [href $='*forums*'] { background: #FF0000; color: #FFFFFF; } There's probably a way to add or to it like a: active [href $='*forums*' OR href $='*home*'] { background: #FF0000; color: #FFFFFF; } | 2009-06-30 00:03:00 Author: Rhyfelwr Posts: 606 |
its great for me on IE | 2009-07-01 09:50:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
I didn't comment on this yet but this is quite awesome. I especially love the "blogs" tab, that area deserved more attention!! It took some getting used to at first but I like it. | 2009-07-01 15:14:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
I like it , it definetly gives easier access to the sections. But I preferred the drop menu for the User CP and the easier access to the different areas it had. | 2009-07-01 15:58:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
Little bug with Lite Style: 2 sets of tabs Looks like it would be really easy to fix. | 2009-07-01 16:45:00 Author: tjb0607 Posts: 1054 |

CC, Could you add a tab to the social groups? I think more people would join them if it were easier to get to them. | 2009-07-05 16:00:00 Author: Lady_Luck__777 Posts: 3458 |
CC, Could you add a tab to the social groups? I think more people would join them if it were easier to get to them. Absolutely. Added. Also, I finally nailed down how to remove the Blog link from the navbar. It's been removed. | 2009-07-05 21:39:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
The Social Groups Tab is a nice addition CC. Thanks. | 2009-07-05 21:53:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
The website now looks very disfigured to me. I am on Google Chrome, and the "Arcade, Gallery, etc" section is in its own very large gray box on the right side of the screen. | 2009-07-05 22:10:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
I am having that same problem, I use the Opera browser: http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r80/Zwollie/Naamloos.jpg | 2009-07-05 22:13:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
