What MMO's do you play/ Jade Dynasty

Archive: 18 posts

I'm curious as to what mmo's you guys are into, or have been into. Im currently playing Jade Dyansty, which just came out about a week ago into open beta. its a martial arts mmorpg and i have to saya it has the highest quality of any asian mmo ive tried, and ive tried most of them! xD
I'm level 41 and thats pretty fast considering the games been out for a week.

The cool thing about Jade Dynasty is that you dont even have to be playing to earn xp. you can go into a state of meditation, where your character stays still, and every minute, you gain a bit of experience. it takes more time as you gain levels, but I usually gain a level or 2 if I leave it overnight. The other way to gain xp is through Invigoration, this puts your character into the AI's control. your character can be programmed to attack certain monsters, what skils to use and how often, and when you use potions. Its all very easy to tinker with. It is a great system that never comes across cheap, because it still requires all of the skill of your character, and its great if you wanna go make a sandwhich or go outside or watever and still kick butt in-game xD

the above also helps to keep out the feeling of monotonous grinding. because Jade Dynasty does require quite a bit of grinding, if you dont do the quests. the quests give plenty of xp too.
The game has incredible looking skills too. And some high quality graphics. dont expect to find many videos on youtube though, as the game was just realeased.
My name in-game is Gondito.

If the above doesnt interest you, I would still love to know what Mmos everyone plays

Unfortunately, I'm a Runsecape guy.

Lvl 65 Melee.

Use to play Territory Wars, Silk Road, Disney MMOs (when they were still around), AdventureQuest, and waiting for LEGO MMO (yes, I'm a dork for LEGOs).

And no, I shall never ever indeed play WoW.

Well i used to play mmo's all the time but i've stopped completly now

The 3 main mmo's that i've played throughout my life are Runescape, Maplestory and WoW

I have this weird thing though where i can remember pretty much everything that i do in an mmo, like it's been 10 years since i've played Runescape but i could still give my friends quite detailed instructions on how to do quests or find places.

It's the same with other mmos like Perfect World or Silkroad that i only played for about a week

WoW is by far the best mmo that i've played so far anyway. It can drag on sometimes like every other mmo, but it has tons of quests so you always have something to do, the dungeons are introduced at a low level and are a great way to meet new players, and from my experience the community as a whole is awesome.

I often spent hours just having random chats with my guild or other friends because i couldn't be bothered to do any more quests - 75% of the people i talked turned out to be great people

Anyway in the end WoW was the first mmo that i managed to hit the max level on, but then i got bored and couldn't be bothered to renew my subscription once it'd ran out

AdventureQuest isn't an mmo

You seem to be quite hostile towards WoW, do you mind if i ask why?
I'm not a fanboy or anything i'm just curious

I've played a lot of MMOs, but I don't play any anymore. The only one I'd go back to is probably EverQuest. The ads on this site were nostalgic for me, I played Trickster years ago, and dozens of other nearly identical grindfests.

Hello Kitty Online is awesome, though. I probably won't play any MMOs until FFXIV, but I'm definitely going to be all over that.

I can't wait for FFXIV!

The idea of having an mmo on a console is just awesome to me

And the mmos on PS2 don't count, they were terrible

Ok, ok, just to clear things up:

I didn't notice that AdventureQuest wasn't an MMO. I meant to say Stick Arena. MMO and MMORPG mix-up.

For Disney MMOs, I played ToonTown, Virtual Magic Kingdom (R.I.I.B.L.P.), and Club Penguin.

And for WoW, I only meant that sarcasticly. I know ten guys who play WoW, and all are addicted. So I usually despise it since I am a Runescape guy, and they all HATE Runescape for:
Cruddy Graphics (They Updated!)
PK'ers (Don't Go Into The Wilderness!)
Hackers (Report On Them!)
Account Corruption (Ma- ... actually they have a point on that one. )
So I have a natural despise against the CROWDS I would encounter, not the game itself. Plus, if it wasn't for WoW, my favorite soda wouldn't be back on shelves (Game Fuel: Citrus Blast FTW!!).

Oh, and I've also played Pirates of The Cursed Seas Online. So, there you go.

Pirates of the Cursed Seas makes me think of Florensia. Part of the game is like any other MMORPG. You wander around questing and grinding. Then the other part, you're on the open seas, fighting pirates or port authorities or other ships or giant turtles (read: questing and grinding in water). Your ship levels up and stuff, too, so it's cool.2009-06-28 09:07:00

I thought that might be why you hate it
Back when i was playing WoW there was a load of WoW vs Runescape arguements, i never really understood why they were being compared.

I don't think Stick Arena is an mmo either

Well I used to do Wow and I was looking at joining Warhammer Online to replace it since I love the warhammer universe and PQ's are awesome; but unfortunately people don't seem to like warhammer online so I'm still waiting for a good MMO that doesn't need a 2 hour wait for raids and then a duration of 5 hours.2009-06-28 19:55:00

MMO= Massive-Multiplayer-Online.

Trust me, Stick Arena is one of those.

Stick arena is multiplayer and online, but i wouldn't say it was 'massive' or 'massively multiplayer'

If Stick Arena qualifies as an mmo, then you could say Counter Strike is an mmorpg

I remember playing Everquest, the original. I did not get very far though, only like level 10 or 15 or so. I can't quite remember the reason why I stopped, I think it might just have been too overwhelming.

I played Runescape a bit as well. It's fun and interesting, but it was... maybe too slow I think.

I've played WoW quite a bit in the past. I got into the game a few months before the first expansion (the Burning Crusade) was released and played quite heavily. I had 4 level 70s and another level 60, but a few months before the second expansion (the Wrath of the Litch King) came out I had some trouble with my credit card expiring and trying to get my account information updated.

By the time I had gotten everything sorted out the medium level server I was on (Norgannon of the US) was in decline and the patch before the expansion had come out, updating the talent trees, had just been released. I remembered what hell it was to relearn everything from the previous talent shake up from the expansions, and the fact that the server was dying out and I was getting busy with other things... well, it just made sense to move on.

Maybe I'll go back again one day. I still have buried somewhere the expansion disc which I bought and a 2 month pre-paid card to restart things, but I'm always busy with other things and remembered how I needed to spend 40+ hours a week on the game to keep at the level of real world experience in knowledge that I had of the game. Considering that's about the length of time someone puts into a full time job, I just cannot easily and casually justify that amount of time usage lightly.

Certainly I spend more than 40 hours a week in video games, but almost all of them have beginnings and ends and it makes sense to stop. Maybe some day I'll go back to WoW, I still keep a casual eye on how it's going, but just not today or tomorrow.

I played Runescape for a year... that was actually the orgin of my name as RockSauron .

Anyway, I LOVED the house aspect, despite how expensive it was. Must have spent millions on it...

Right now... I guess I may try Final Fantasy 14... maybe :/
