What is your favorite Adventure game?

Archive: 26 posts

Just like the title asks, what's your favorite Adventure game and why? (pick only ONE)

Mine's Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)... The world is so vast and diverse, not to mention the game just OVERFLOWS with pure epicness.

On a side note, team ICO will be revealing their new PS3 game soon...

Honorable mentions: Legend of Zelda 2 (NES), Okami (PS2), Super Metroid (SNES), Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PSX)

Nice! Although, I wouldn't exactly put God of War under "Adventure game"... d:

Also, decided to add two more honorable mentions to my first post... I was in a hurry, so I kind of forgot... xD

Adventure games promote exploration, even if they have platforming, action or RPG elements. :]2008-09-04 23:12:00

I haven't played all that many pure adventure games. But I guess Beyond Good & Evil would fit the best (not quite adventure, but one of the most adventure-style games that I've played) and is excellent.2008-09-05 00:16:00

depends on your definition of adventure games...

action adventure: Indigo Prophecy/ Farenheit (but Shadow of Destiny is pretty close)
rpg adventure : Shenmue
point and click adventure : the Myst Series

all in general, Shenmue, but Indigo Prophecy goes pretty close, if only they didn't screw the ending up....

Thats what I'm saying. The Monkey Island Series is one of my favorites. My alltime favorite adventure game would have to be Grim Fandango(They never made a sequel due to poor sales but honestly if you like old school adventure games this is a must play. The puzzles, story, voice acting and art direction were top notch for its time and amazingly still look good today 10 years later). I also love the old Maniac Mansion series its a classic point and click adventure. Myst was another one. Ico and Shadow of Colossus were amazing too I cant wait to see what Team ICO comes up with next I just dont know how theyll top Shadow of Colossus. I kinda hope they'll remake it for PS3. That would look AMAZING in full HD glory .

They must:

Make the world 10 times bigger.
Add more colossi.
Overall make the game longer.

It was just so bittersweet beating it. Way too short for the epicness it held. Anyway, I don't know... Knowing team ICO, they'll probably either make another prequel to either game, or a sequel...or something like that.

Oh, and, Sam & Max are also good adventure games... lol. Oldschool but cool.

I know what you mean it was a little too short but even still it was an amazing game. I'm not too crazy about the length of a game as long as it keeps my interest thats all that matters. And considering the size of those collossi I can see why it was so short. It might have only been 7-10 hours but they were definately an epic 7-10 hours of gaming thats for sure

And ya man Sam and Max was another good one. When I was growing up all I had was nes snes and PC so I have a bit of a soft spot for old school point and click adventure games since I basically grew up playing them. I kinda miss those point and click adventures they need to bring them back lol.

You can still get them though and replay them. It's been so long I barely remember, but ****, they were so fun...haha.

And yeah. I guess in part SotC was epic because it was short. Maybe not epic, but memorable. It made you want more, you know? Oh well. Hopefully something better or just as good will come by, because personally, Ico bored the heck out of me... It started to feel more like a chore than a game. I wanted to beat it, but I just stopped playing it... ugh.

Really? I got so hooked on ICO I beat it over a weekend when I got it. I loved it, I thought it was really cool that your kinda lost in this world with this girl who you cant even talk to and you have to keep saving her. Plus the graphics at the time were pretty crazy and i thought the puzzles were actually really creative. I didn't like the ending though it was stupid lol2008-09-05 18:50:00

Uncharted is too epic for it's own right. But completing it like 3 times to get trophies put me off xD And yes: Shadow of the Colossus was epic aswell. Great games...2008-09-05 19:37:00

Basically after the queen recaptures Yorda you fight her and kill her but then the castle falls apart and yorda transforms into one of those dark creature things and gets you out of the castle throws you on a boat and stays behind. You then wake up on a beach you walk around and find yorda on the beach looking normal again she opens her eyes.... and game over lol. I might be missing a few details since its been a while but thats how i remember the ending. I didnt really like it
