Welcome to our 16th Community Spotlight! Before we begin, a note from our Spotlight Crew members:
The Spotlight Crew wishes to express a big "thank you" to CCubbage for all his hard work on the spotlight crew. He has finished up his run, and is now no longer a part of the Crew. Your commitment to excellence and enthusiasm for the game will continue to be an inspiration to us. Thank you! Now that you've got more "spare time", get creating! :hero:

We also want to welcome out newest crew member Matt 82! Welcome!
Enjoy the levels guys!

Devil May Cry (Mission IV) Demonic VengeanceKoRnDawwg/KoRnDawwg
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=368&pictureid=3306This is the fourth installment for my DMC series, hopefully it should play right. It follows off from the third mission, where you gain the Elixir stone - a magical stone which will allow you to access the demon world. You aim to exit the castle on Mallet Island and plough through the underworld to get you to the very last stage - defeating the Emperor Mundus once and for all (coming next)!

Another great addition to the Devil May Cry series by KoRnDawwg. Amazing and moody lighting set the tone for a demonically populated level that will keep you on your toes. Lots of demons to take on and an absolutely jaw dropping boss battle compliments of Burnvictim42 round out this fun and spooky level.
A fantastic atmosphere, fantastic enemies and a fantastic boss make this a brilliant addition to an already brilliant series. The fourth installment in the brilliant LBP meets DMC series has finally arrived. This level is a strong story backed up by great graphics and is only beaten by its lovely creature design. You will need to keep your wits about you if you want the extra hidden score bubbles, and you may even need to back-track to find some secrets. Moody atmosphere and a fantastic boss (courtesy of BurnVictim42) add to this level more than anything. A must-play for fans and casual LBP players.
Another extremely atmospheric level in the Devil May Cry series carrys on KornDawwgs tradition of great visuals and wonderful level design. The enemies are brilliantly designed, but prepare to be blown away by one awesome looking, and epic boss. The level oozes atmosphere and playability and rewards any would be explorer with point bubbles if you dare venture of the spooky path!
Aperture Science: Sackboy Chambers (Part One) comphermc/comphermc
http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/5537/aphotof.jpgAs the name suggests, this will be the first part of a two part series. It turned out being a parody on the idea of a portal-gun, in that before the portal-gun, the most advanced piece of equipment Aperture Science had was the "Hand-Held Paintinator Device". The emphasis of this level is obviously on getting to the end, but I wanted to reward the player for doing more. The only way to score prize bubbles is to search out and find the various 'rat-holes' hidden throughout the level, some of which are harder to find than others. Also hidden is an achievement room that will tell you how many of the areas you found. Happy hunting! Good luck and have fun!

I really have had fun playing this level. Very clean design with some complex and noggin scratching puzzle platforming sections will have you really engaged in problem solving. Some funny text bubbles and a faithful companion cube bring out the humor too. Secret area junkies will love figuring out where they are and how to get them. A great level to play even if the cake is a lie.
Expertly made Portal tribute. Puzzles are original challenging, but never frustrating. A hugely enjoyable level that is a must for puzzle fans.Clean visuals, reminiscent of some of the best LBP Portal levels are available, and lots of hidden areas. You couldn't ask for anything more. Puzzles, platforming and secrets combine with the slightly twisted humour to give you this - Aperture Science: Sackboy Chambers. Eagerly await Part Two!This level by comphermc reminds you about all that was good about Portal. Clean, yet detailed visuals, brilliant thoughtout puzzles with the chance of death for those not quick enough on the keypad. There are some wonderful multilevel switch puzzles later on that require some thinking, and must have took quite a bit of planning to achieve. When you can copy, and in some aspects better one of my favourite games then you done fantastic job, and comphermc has done just that. The Tribephife211/Phife24
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=524&pictureid=4611Teaser: After a mining expedition goes horribly wrong, you're sent in to recover survivors and investigate. What ancient secret did they stumble upon? This level is a one-player adventure that focuses on both story and action. From the wreckage of the ransacked mining sight, to a smoldering volcanic core, to the discovery of what the mining team found, this level provides plenty of exciting set pieces, eye candy, and intrigue. This is actually my first level - it won't be my last, so let me know if you have interest in a sequel or a totally new adventure.

Another fantastic underground adventure awaits in this level. Go in search of your felow mining workers to find out what has been unearthed that's causing so many problems. Nicely lit and moody you can feel the weight of the rock above you as you make your way through caverns with burning debris and wrecked mining equipment. The drill is an especially nicely done section. A lot of fun to play by yourself - leave your friends at home for this one.A thermometer defying journey into the unknown. Huge spiders, tribal warfare and volcanoes are just some of the things you`ll be navigating your way through in this epic level
The Tribe's name speaks for itself. It's snappy, action-fueled and brilliant to play. From the opening section, through the mine and all the way to the ending it will have your attention. The story is brilliant and is the really merit throughout the level. Lucious atmospheres, and good character designs crown off a beautiful well thought out level. I can't believe just how much is crammed into one thermo on this level. Excellent set piece after piece take you throw a cave journey to a battle with a tribe and thier god. I was extremely impressed with amount of visual punch in the level, from the wonderful machines, to the two, yes two bosses and the tribe themselves. There are some great platforming and puzzle sections to, so you really owe yourself to play it!!Nerves of SteelAAAlone/AAAlone
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_7-1.jpgSackboy is once again called upon thwart the enemies of Little Big Planet. His mission is to push a series of timed explosives through a complex base in pursuit of the enemy. The bombs are required to move forward, but are dangerous to be around (tic! tic! tic!). The level features complex bomb handling machinery, rocket attacks, the mysterious Warehouse 13, a daring daring skyjacking, and a last minute escape! The level will rate your performance based upon bomb efficiency (assuming you've got what it takes to complete the mission!). Nerves of Steel! Have you got 'em?

A thinker with a difference! Merging puzzles with epic action movies, AAAlone has created a fantastic level that will please puzzle fans, platform fans, action fans and those that simply appreciate something new.
Contrary to all sackboy instincts, in this level you must protect a bomb... well several bombs actually. It's an innovative game challenge that makes gameplay a bit nerve-wracking but fun. Great details in the military style and an airplane section that would have Jack Bower (24) biting his nails. Explosive doesn't even come close to describing the action on this level - check it out.Another week, another new experience from AAAlone. Since really rising to our sights around a month ago, AAAlone has shown us lots of new things, and this time he's set his sights on revolutionising bombs. His new level doesn't involve them falling from the sky, rather you pushing them along. Safe zones and puzzles all combine to create a great level. But do you have the Nerves of Steel needed to finish the level?AAAlone showed us in Moving Parts he was a wonderful knack for game mechanics and the skill and aptitude to carry them along in his levels and Nerves Of Steel is no exception. The tight time limits on certain sections will make your palms sweat and your blood pump. I really don't want to spoil anything that happens in the level, you must experience it for yourself. You still here, go play!Zilla's Neighborhood 2Godzillionaire/Godzillionaire
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/littlebiggallery/images/4699/medium/1_zn22.jpgHelp the lord of monsters find his cat in this moody, atmospheric landscape. Make your way through dark woods and past deadly obstacles to find the feline you seek. Done in a silhouetted style with many subtle detailed shapes that transport you into a mysterious realm.

Some of the best silhouette work on an LBP level I've seen which works very nicely with the moody and monochromatic pallet. Much more sweet than sinister in tone it's a wonderful blend of fantasy and spookiness. A must play for players who enjoy the darker side of things in LBP.
Wonderfully crafted and atmospheric level. Has the feel of a russian marrionette show with its featureless yet scary characters. Adding in tight gameplay and a misleadingly cute storyline and you get a level so dark it`d have Tim Burton jealous. It's crooked, it's dark and it's.... very fun to play. The second in this series by Godzillionaire sees you travel deep into a spooky forest in search of a cat. Sounds strange already - wait until you see the visuals in all their glory! Attack of the BORG "Part 2: The HolodeckAJnKnox/AJnKnox
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_28-1.jpgCharge your remote and get a towel, this re-imagined level will have your hands sweating and your jumping thumb pumped up! Enter the Holodeck to rescue your 3 trapped crew mates! What will you find when you enter the Vulcan Temple? Duck into an empty alcove in an attempt to elude death in an encounter with the BORG. Traverse an alien landscape and witness a shuttle crash landing! These are a few of the challenges and sights that await you! There are 7 hidden switches to discover which rewards you with points...if you reach the end. There is a Special Bonus Puzzle Prize...if you find it! This is a skill challenge that will have you screaming at your TV and cursing your remote and or your jumping thumb! If you enjoy skill challenges that test your platforming ability then this is the level for you! Rated H for hard difficulty!

A step backward is sometimes a step forwards, and AJnKnox has taken a leap with this level that he has re-invisioned from his Attack of the Borg series. A complete rebuild of the earlier version that has greatly benefited from all he's learned as a level designer since then. Challenging platforming that will test coordination and timing, paintinator action against simulated Borg, a climbing challenge to rescue a crash vitctem and plenty of secrets to find. An entertaining level both for the eyes and your inner gamer. A worthy addition or should I say re-edition to this already fantastic series.
There is a parallel between AJnKox`s levels and the Star Trek series. Good in its time, the original series of Star Trek hasn`t aged well in this age of CGI. AJnKnox felt that his earlier attempts a levels didn`t stand up to his newer levels and set out to fix that. Like the writers of Star Trek he knows that the holodeck gives him a blank slate to come up with anything he can think of and he does so in style. Vulcan Temples, deserts, shuttle crashes and more appear in this challenging and imaginative level. Getting all the bonuses will have you wishing for a tricorder too!Its a highlight for me when I see another Attack Of The BORG level posted on the showcase. This time, AJnKnox has gone back and re-visited an older level to bring it in line with the series. He's improved an already great part 2 no end. Really good visuals, some great puzzles and some really quite taxing platforming elements means a move into the past has as all looking forward to the future. Lone Ninja Episode 3: Race to Ninja Villagecoyote_blue/coyote_blue
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_30-1.jpgThe Holy Sword Kaminarito is predominantly a medium-difficulty platformer. The intent of the series is to slowly add machines and effects that simulate "ninja action" in a mildly goofy, mildly anime-inspired environment. Episode 1, which starts out with the player as a trainee, focuses a lot more on the goofy part.
I understand that, for the most part, Sackboy doesn't talk, and MM made a conscious decision NOT to give the player word balloons in conversations. This doesn't stop me from trying it anyway.

There are a lot of ninja levels out there but this one stands out for me. It's got a great story line, some beautiful scenery and plenty of action but it does something few ninja levels actually do - it makes you feel like a ninja! Grab switches cleverly used make sackboy fly through the air with super human strength and speed, the sword you get to use is suitably mystical and powerful and bounding through a fantastic bamboo forrest make it a memorable experience. The final scene of this level is wonderfully done and has one of the best emotional moments I've experienced in LBP. A great level for anime or ninja fans.
Grappling hooks and sword dashes. Everyday occurances for ninjas, not so much for the rest of us. Coyote_Blue however has changed all that with his Ninja series. Not only will you be flying about Hidden Monkey Crouching Badger style, you`ll also be fighting a giant chicken. Excellent! Robot Town 2Jump_button /Jump_button
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_31-1.jpg I'm trying to push the style of my level more then the 1st one that got a mm pick for how it looked. Some gameplay that I've never see any one do yet cleaning up using a sticker removal area. It also has a section using acid rain.

Explore an even more charming if a bit rusty side of jump_button's robot town. Stylized industrial buildings and layer on layer of decorations and details make this level a feast for the eyes. Uniques sticker removal "puzzle" was a first for me in an LBP level and I thought the robots were designed great. Be sure to explore the neon signs for even more interesting areas to explore. A pretty neat if a bit brief level for you to experience.
Another beautiful level from the artistic mind of Jump_Button. He creates worlds in LBP like few others can and the world in this level, is one of my favourites. Eye candy doesn`t get much better than this and when you factor in the refreshingly new gameplay element that he`s introduced you`re left one one fantastic level. The RoboTown series are some of the most aesthetically pleasing levels you could hope to find in LBP. I love the twisted designs of the buildings, and the way jump_button uses details on all of the planes for maximum effect, it really is a playable work of art. I have also never seen a sticker switch system quite like this one. It perhaps wont challenge you, but it will make your jaw drop when the amount of effort and time so obvioulsy invested in the superb landscape you journey through. SackventureMother-Misty/mother-misty
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=618&d=1244563363This level is actually the result of a creative block I had when making stakker westworld 3. An adventure through a natural landscape fraught with some natural and not so natural ways to be killed. Rolling lush meadows, dense jungle areas, deep bat filled caverns and a climb up an enormous tree are some of the highlights.

A pretty, lighthearted level with lots to see and do. A lovely outdoorsy kind of level with a suitably dark cave section that shows off some subtle and great lighting. Mind the bats, spiders and other creepy crawly stuff hanging around and you just might survive this sackventure! The name tells you what you`re getting straight away. This level brings back memories of Tomb Raider and Uncharted. Sackventure features some fantastic scenery and engaging platforming and after easing you in gently at the start, you soon find the tempo ramped right up and it`s all go from there.
Sackventure sees sackboy travel the rough terrain of LBP, down into a dark cave and then back out again! Great visuals and brilliant use of the three layers helps Mother-Misty on her way to a second spotlight. One warning though - watch out for loose rocks!Forbidden SacrificeCoreymill /Coreymill
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v54/kenshin7777/LBP/fs_lbp_007.jpgSolve the puzzles of The Serpent Temple to collect items and store them in your inventory. Use the items wisely to prove yourself worthy enough to see the gods and bring back your beloved.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtDtfbVpX5E

"This level is long" warns the level description. And it`s right. It`ll take a good 20 minutes to get through this one. However it`s also beautiful, clever, inventive, challenging and well made. By giving you an inventory, Coreymill opens up a whole new way to play and he does it brilliantly. An absolute must for those who love innovation.
Innovation in LBP can take many forms. In this case it's a tool inventory that will help you solve some of the most original and never cheap puzzles in LBP. Beautifully designed with a story that will move you more than most it's a must play. Invest the time it will take to play it - it's worth it. VilterMother-Misty/mother-misty
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=701&d=1245860976your goal... keep the bubble-multiplier running a go for the high-score (now... where did we hear that before? Yep, this level was inspired by Jaeden's Tye Dye) some things to keep in mind... You have about 1 second to catch your next bubble before the multiplier chain breaks, so you've got to be pretty fast, multipliers of 30x or more are perfectly possible. Keep in mind that if you jump, you always land on the highest layer.

Bubble chaining is a pretty popular level theme but when they look this good they stand out. Making a second appearance in spotlight 16 with yet another fantastically fun creation, Mother-Misty pulls out all the stops in this energetic, colorful and addictive level. Go get those bubbles!
Inspired by Jaeyden, perfected by Mother-Misty. There are no bosses, no speech bubbles, no complicated puzzles, just bright colours, rounded shapes, a whole load of score bubbles and many a wasted hour trying to get the high score.Never has there been so much fun collecting bubbles since Tie Dye. The colours really burst out of the screen on this one, giving your eyes as treat and well as satisfying your greed and need for point bubbles. Infinitly playable, and you will play it time and time again to to beat your own score, and your freinds. Another wonderful level by Mother-Misty Zero Punctuation : Quick-Time's RevengeAsbestos101/Asbestos101
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/9164/aphotoo.jpgEngineered in a sinister lab focused on concentrating cuteness to a weaponized level, you need to redeem yourself in Yahtzee's eyes. Luckily whilst busily ranting on his computer, those pesky trolls have taken all of Yahtzee's supply of Branston Pickle. A chance for redemption! This level must have taken over 30 hours and after two 'fail to load level' scares it's finally finished. 30 hours may seem like a lot but it's spread out over the past month and a half.

Anyone familiar with the escapist website has seen the video game review zero punctuation by Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw. In them Yahtzee reviews the good, the bad and the really bad games he's played all seemingly in one long rant (hence the name of the video.) This level nails the visual style and irreverent sense of humor of the original vids and even addresses Yahtzee's comments on Little Big Planet itself. Really funny gameplay and great insider references to be found. Defeat Lord QTE if you can manage to push X not to die and you'll be rewarded by a happy Yahtzee. He would say this level is "made of chocolate" so go check it out.
This level has level design that is really really good like something that is really good and has a charm about it that smiles at you then trips you up and throws you face first into a river bed....made of chocolate and as well as looking rather pretty it happens to be fun as well which is something I don`t say very often so to even out the balance...**** ****** ****....much better. Although I've never actually heard of the source material, I still had great fun in the level. I loved the whole style of the level, from the yellow stickered lanscape, to the wierd and wacky characters and enemies. The level mixes it up really well, and theres some great secrets for people to find, which is always a plus in my book. And hey, who would'nt want thier branston pickle back, cheese sandwiches would never be the same again?Puzzle Islandchillum007/chillum007
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto-3.jpgAfter a long break from LBP I am back, and I think I have made my best level yet. I decided to pull out all the stops on this one and have made it as pretty and as well made and fun to play as possible. It took me ages to finish but I'm very happy with the results. It is a puzzle based level, so if you like puzzles there is plenty to keep you going here. There are a few skill based sections later on as well so persevere if you like the classic platforming action. The Idea is that you are trying to join the puzzle tribe who live on a lush, tropical, rain forest covered island. The leader of the tribe, Chief Contumplate, loves puzzles. In fact, he loves them so much that he has set up some puzzles as trials which you must complete to join the tribe. Your adventure will take you through the jungle and into ancient temples and shrines to the Cat like Goddess of puzzles, and then on the the tribal village.

A Puzzle level with a plot is a fantastic combination in the hands of chillum007. A lighthearted level with some memorable characters and a seemingly simple task that may turn out to be harder than is sounds. Excellent lighting and puzzle diversity. Just the right length too.
Puzzle fans are spoiled at the moment I think. Though this isn`t just a puzzle level. It`s more like Zelda in LBP. chillum007 has made sure that his level appeals so a broad audience with its great visuals, cute characters, nice set pieces and puzzles that tax you without frustrating you. Metal Gear Solid: The Philanthropy Files Vol. 1rob29/TripleTremelo
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=530&pictureid=4640This is a level I've been working for months and months. This level barely didn't even exist, after I was 75% through with it, my save corrupted. I had to collect all items again and rebuild the entire thing from scratch. I almost gave up but decided to make it again. So here it is!Description: Snake and Otacon pursue their anti-Metal Gear activities with their group Philanthropy. This volume finds Snake in the Middle East looking to stop a new Metal Gear from being built. An original level with elements inspired by the Metal Gear Solid universe.

MGS fans need to check out this level. It's really cinematic at times and has a nicely paced story with cool lighting effects, well made vehicles and paintinator action. A well rounded level and hopefully the first of many in this series.
Another excellent level from the creator of Cause And Effect. This level takes a different approach from those however. Based on MGS, TripleTremelo packs the level with a great cinematic fair and couple of bosses. There are some great ideas in this level, each one brilliantly implemented. A must play.
The best MGS level since Mm introduced the pack. Great vehicles, brilliant use of cutscenes and some fantastic set pieces combine to create a level that all MGS fans should experience.

Great levels, we all loved playing these as usual. You creators are making it too hard for us - how about holding off on the good levels for a couple of weeks!

Just wanted to pay tribute to the legend that is Ccubagge, this spotlight was difficult without you. Thanks for your time and effort donated to the spotlight crew.

well done to everyone! there were so many great levels with so little time, that the next spotlight is already underway.

the thing I like most about the levels featured in this episode is that, with a few exceptions, these levels came from mostly new creators. it is not just the same people over and over.

a shout goes out to Ccubbage, who gave up so much of his spare time to do all those previous episodes.

lastly, everyone owes morgana a big thank you as without her hard work, there wouldn't have been a spotlight today!

Because of a lack in time I still have to play some of these but I'll get on it as soon as I login to LBP again.

Oh, and 2 more things
1. CCubage....thanks for all work you did in the spotlights!!
2. Matt 82, I'm happy you joined the spotlight crew.
You always give great and deep feedback to everyone, this is what you should be doing!!

Way to go everyone who made #16 and the review team. Wish I was still a creator, but I leave that sort of thing for the professionals 2009-06-27 18:04:00

Boy, I definately feel appreciated today!

Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere - my time is a bit more limited now and I don't have as much time to play the amount of levels necessary to spotlight.

But it's a good thing - Matt_82 is fantastic and a fresh perspective is always nice.

Thanks a lot for the spotlight, I really appreciate it!

- There are also quite a few levels in this one that I haven't had a chance to play yet. This definitely gives me a lot to look forward to as soon as I have the time to jump back on LBP. C:

Thanks for the recognition from the spotlight team! I also appreciate all the people on these forums who take the time to answer questions and offer advice - without that feedback, we wouldn't be consistently raising the bar.

Now I need to get cracking on these other levels. I've played a few of them and I am constantly impressed by the creativity.

Great levels, By the way Asbestos101 i don't think that 30 hours is long to make a level my current level has way mor than that put into it and its only 50% complete.2009-06-29 09:48:00

I agree.
It's a month I'm working on my 7th Idol like 5/6 hours per day (exception made for weekends...); so, less or more, it's 300 hours withouth counting the time spent drawing the concept art (yes I did it, and I will upload it too on my albums page when the level will be released).

Depends how efficient you are and how much you planned I suppose

For me thats 30 hours realizing the plan, not counting faffing about making cups of tea or sketching it out on pads of paper

At the time I made that level anyway I was having less and less time to make it so I was all about making my time as quality as possible rather than just relying on quantity of time, which I didn't have.

I'm on an 11 week break now though, so expect at least one ridiculous level from me

I love this spotlight concept you all have at this site. It makes finding good levels so much easier.

I can't imagine ever finding these levels on my own

It's a hilarious and spectacular level, themed and styled to a T. It's a definite must-play.
