"Republish" or "New Level" for new versions?

Archive: 6 posts

I just finished doing an updated version of my Attack of the Sack Children level.. i havent published it yet, but i plan to once i figure out where...

im wondering what would be the best method....

1. publish over the old version and maintain all the hearts and tag words.. (but lose the risk of those who already played it not realizing the level has been improved)

or
2. Publish it as a new level (maaaaybe with a 2.0 subtitle) ..and let it exist from scratch

the core of the level is the same, but there is a whole new element added and a couple fully new sections, as well as a wealth of new subtle improvements

i may be leaning toward the first scenario, but im not sure... i guess im mostly worried about the level going unnoticed and drifting into oblivion as most seem to after a certain period of time...

What do you think?

(.. wasnt sure if i should post this in Help or Everything Else LBP)

Well, if you want to give it a shot at cool levels you would need to republish it under a new slot. Levels are only in cool pages 7 days from the date first published - so it all depends on what your play goals are.2009-06-25 21:46:00

Republish in a different slot like ccubbage said for a good chance on cool levels. Hit 300 plays with 30 hearts and that should stick you on cool levels. You've got 7 days so republish if needed to hit this magic number2009-06-25 22:42:00

cool thanks... ill probably do a new one then...

i never knew about that 7 day thing
very good to know... almost makes me wonder if i should attempt to republish the last level i put up about a week ago... it was doing really well and getting a good response and then nothing... dead.

Republish, and give out a key to it in your old level. 2009-06-27 22:30:00

Actually, the whole locking thing is a good idea....
'cause i want people to play the new versions,
..rather than get a weaker impression of my abilities through the older ones..

So, I could lock the old ones...
..to prevent newcomers from playing the wrong ones
...leaving the improved versions in the clear

(some of the people who played my earlier levels should have keys anyway..
so they could revisit if they want... eventually i'll prolly just delete the old ones anyway)
