Lighting that shows up in Photos
Archive: 9 posts
I love having an in game photo tool but one thing about it bugs me. Many creators (myself included) like to light levels using spotlights rather than the global lighting settings. For playing levels it's fine and looks just the way we want BUT when taking in game photos the lights are not shown. It's sort of sad that I can't post accurate photos on websites or in the level opener because the color isn't accurate. If MM could re-think the photo tool to include the actual color/light on a level as it appears when played I think it would be an improvement. Just a suggestion ![]() | 2009-06-25 17:58:00 Author: Morgana25 ![]() Posts: 5983 |
The global lighting doesn`t show up either. My Life on Mars levels use a certain colour correction that looks pretty good in the level, but the photos just appear bright red. The two B&W levels I can think of ('At the Movies' and 'Dark and Stormy Night&apos ![]() | 2009-06-25 18:12:00 Author: Matt 82 ![]() Posts: 1096 |
Yes, i agree as well, a lot of times a level will look a bit less appealing in the pic, when there's actually lights that make it look great during gameplay. Same thing applies to fire and tothe gas lethalizations, Fire doesn't show, only the burned part of the material, and gas won't show at all, making also other parts of the level seem emptier than they look. So yeah lights and all that stuff in pics is a must. | 2009-06-25 18:14:00 Author: Silverleon ![]() Posts: 6707 |
It's a total annoyance. How Mm missed this is completely beyond me? I guess if we had that mythical image import tool we could take a photo and upload it using that, but.... | 2009-06-25 18:24:00 Author: Rustbukkit ![]() Posts: 1737 |
It is a pain, I have a B&W pic in my clubhouse level, but I had to take it with my eyetoy because the in-game camera tool made it in full colour. Sigh. | 2009-06-25 18:38:00 Author: ARD ![]() Posts: 4291 |
Yeah, the hazard thing really bugs me too. Especially when you have a level based around it. :/ | 2009-06-25 22:06:00 Author: midnight_heist ![]() Posts: 2513 |
I agree Morgana25...a re-think is in order. Otherwise, why use the word "photo" to describe the tool, as photo implies an image replica...which in many cases they are not. Rick | 2009-06-29 02:21:00 Author: RickRock_777 ![]() Posts: 1567 |
I concur with the previous posters. Especially for the gas hazard. That one's absence is especially noticeable. | 2009-06-30 00:58:00 Author: dcf ![]() Posts: 468 |

Rick Yes... they should have called it the "Basic Visual Replication Lense" instead of a camera. ![]() | 2009-06-30 22:15:00 Author: Rustbukkit ![]() Posts: 1737 |
